Some back story on this creation~

Back in like 2009, there was this guy on VG-Resource (a forums website I guess) that went by the name of Evil Waluigi or somethin'. He and some others had made a bunch of sprites for a Smash Bros RPG. Sadly, the game was never finished, and everyone had disbanded a long time ago before they could even start working on the main game. Fast forward to 2011, I happen to stumble upon his sprites and thought they were amazing. I figured at the time they'd be amazing building material, so I saved a lot of the sprites into a specific folder before they were eventually taken down.

Fast forward again to the present, I recently found the folder that I stored the sprites in! The Mario you see now is one of the sprites Evil Waluigi had created before he disappeared. Whether or not he's still active, I dunno.

I'll give credit here to the dude, but it's been so long, that I don't think he'll care. To be honest though, I have no idea if he's still out there doing what he does. So lemme know if you happen to know the guy, will ya? I'd like to thank him for making these.

Long story short, I'll see about making more of these guys. Hopefully, I can make at least the original 12 and a few others. I'll have to see if I have enough parts... Until then, Gem Jim signing off.

Je suis assez stupéfait du résultat. Le piqué est incroyable

For Pixels' final 52 week photo I wanted something special. I wanted a full body shot, and something that showed who Pixel is. I think this photo does that. I love that her expression is soft- not the hard edged, excitement look that I tend to get. She is such a beautiful, smart little dog. I love her to pieces and am very lucky to have such a great dog.

Pixel won't be returning next year for 52 Weeks, I will be using one of my other dogs instead. You can still see Pixel in my photostream though, and on my blog. (http://manymuddypaws.blogspot.com)

I have created a blurb book of all of the photos and can't wait for it to arrive. This group has been just amazing, and I have definitely learned a lot about my dog, and my camera. I look forward to next year with one of the others (I haven't officially decided yet)

I imagine it all goes the same place.

Even the things that were never real.

It all goes on in the end.

This is my recent design for folding arbitrary bitmap images as origami tessellations. Unlike using four-sink-base (see Saturn Tessellation), each molecule represents just a single pixel rather than a block of pixels, so all pixels look exactly the same.

The molecule is made from a 4×4 grid but the size reduction in folded molecule is just 1:2, compared to 1:3 with four-sink base which needs only a 3×3 grid. So, there is bit more precreasing but the resulting tess is larger, and also the collapse is much easier.

The molecule for visible pixels is similar to a square twist, but only the central square is visible. The CP is very simple so someone may have come up with it before, for example it seems Robson Renê Albuquerque got a very similar pattern at the back of his chessboard tessellation. The empty pixel molecule is just a square twist pulled back to the reverse side of the paper, so in the front just a clean pleat is visible. Anyway, even if the front molecule was already known, I haven’t seen a combination like this used for pixmap images, so I hope this brings something new to the bitmap origami genre.

Crease pattern available here.

This is just a quick demo of the technique — I plan to make something bigger and more photography-like using this method when time allows.

So, lately I've been trying new things with Photoshop. always looking for ways to improve.

Been Waiting since March for a good storm in Nebraska... we have had some but out of my reach due to some vehicle issues. Though just recently this has changed and was able to enjoy this event!

The 2020 Storm Season has been stale to say the least. Though Mother Nature... She would redeem herself this day. Beautiful Severe Warned Thunderstorms, with all the extras. Surreal!

Decided to play it north deep into Central Nebraska that afternoon. Bad road networks and basically no cell services unless you have a booster, which I have. Models that day had it right north of Brady Nebraska then for it to develop and move north northeast. Some of the models had it a little bit further north and that was exactly why I was in the Thedford Halsey Nebraska Area to start.

Though when the storms fired I had a nice TVS warning on this first cell but the storms south which had merged with these storms now and sucking all the energy southward. I had to punch through the core of this first storm to get to the one developing to my due south...The main event for the afternoon.

Epic Nebraska Supercell Structure.... Seeing this up close and personal is what I needed! Incredible defined detail as this cell moved northeast. Directly up from the Brady Maxwell Arnold areas. A perfect viewing point out in the open just to the west of Merna Nebraska.
