We have two feijoa trees on our property - Feijoa, also known as pineapple guava or guavasteen, is what we call it. They resemble olive trees in color, with sage-like leaves, and grow quite slowly. They’re supposed to bear fruit, but they’ve never produced much. I guess these trees need a bit more love and attention than they’ve been getting, so I’ll work on that.

This season, they produced about 5-6 fruits total, and this is one of them.

Feijoas are very popular in New Zealand, I’ve heard that almost every house has one. Is that true?

Thanks for everyone for faves, views and comments

long exp. trying to convey the power of the surf, not sure if it comes across that way.

**More coming from this series.

Our feijoa tree is covered with buds, and this is its first bloom. Interestingly, it’s the only bloom so far, the rest are still buds.

Ananas

Ananá

Ananas bracteatus (common name, red pineapple) is a species of the pineapple. It is native to South America.

It is grown as an ornamental plants for its decorative red fruit. The leaves are long with sharp spines, so it can be used as a protective hedge for home security. The ripe fruit is more or less palatable (depending on clones), but it is smaller (less than one kilo), usually full of seeds, fibrous, lacking in juice and less fleshy than commercial pineapples, but very attractive.

You buy a pineapple. You cut it up for eating and make juice. You take top portion put it in the ground and wait almost two years for this. Now you have to wait another year or so to get another….pineapple. Just go to the store and buy one.

A potted pineapple in my Gold Coast hinterland garden shows promise and a Fibonacci series end-on.

Matthew 25:1-13

New International Version

The Parable of the Ten Virgins

25 “At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4 The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. 5 The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

6 “At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’

7 “Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’

9 “‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’

10 “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.

11 “Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’

12 “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’

13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

There was a pineapple guava tree blooming on the SDSU campus. I wonder who collects the fruit? 😋 I have planted this type of guava in my garden few weeks ago. Hoping for some flowers soon.

Pentacon with its 33cm MFD did pretty good at this close-up, imho.

I held my camera up above this colorful pineapple plant, but this was as high as I could get the focus, I'll have to go back and check out this colorful plant. Enid A. Haupt Conservatory New York Botanical Garden, the Bronx, NYC -- April 5, 2023

Wikipedia states: In a 100-gram serving, raw pineapple is an excellent source of manganese (44% Daily Value [DV]) and vitamin C (58% DV). However, I can only think of this song when I see a pineapple...Pen Pineapple Apple Pen. Here is a link so the song can wind its way through your brain. Enjoy! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ct6BUPvE2sM
