For more than half a century this sign has greeted Montrealers driving over the Champlain Bridge, walking through the Old Port or Little Burgundy, or descending from Mount Royal, but perhaps for not much longer. In July, the sign went dark, its owners having decided to do away with it. As one of Montreal’s most distinctive and beloved landmarks faces extinction, a question is raised: do we care enough—or even know enough—about our sign heritage?
I had a previous post "View from Windy Hill Estate" that was shot at this same location. This is what is left of the estate built on top of Windy Hill. this image further paints the images I had in my head as I sat on the edge of this estate and overlooked the Caribbean sea below. Matthiessen Bridge View on black.
I went up to Matthiessen State Park again yesterday - to see the park in the Spring - in all of it's flooded glory - and it didn't disappoint. I spent most of the day standing in cold water lugging around gear and could not have been happier.
I started just after sunrise at the south end of the Dells portion of the park - trying to get to the Wishing Well and the big falls there. The river, 10-15 feet in that valley last November, was at least 40 feet across now and three-to-four feet deep. It was slippery, muddy and very slow going. I think a small inflatable boat and a very watertight bag are going to have to be pursued for next spring.

The chocolate paste is poured into a section of a spherical mould with a pouring vessal and is then enclosed in the upper section. To ensure that no chocolate can escape from the closed mould it is secured in a vice. This vice is rotated on its axis in every direction on a centrifuge. This causes the chocolate paste to spread over the wall of the mould creating a uniform chocolate shell.
In the second stage, after cooling, the fledgling truffles receive their high quality filling. Finally the filling hole is sealed with chocolate. The truffle balls are then passed via a conveyor belt to a machine which coast them with chocolate. Finally, prior to the last cooling state, a counter-rotating wire mesh gives them their prickly texture.

Rani Mangamma's palace has been renewed and converted to Gandhi museum.The museum displays information about Mahatma Gandhi, and most importantly it showcases the original blood-stained garment of Gandhi when he was assassinated by Nathuram Godse. The other piece of the garment is kept at the Gandhi Museum in Delhi. This museum, is one of the 5 museums in India (others in Mumbai, Barrackpore, Sabarmati and Patna) known as Gandhi Sanghralayas. Also lot of pictures taken during Gandhi's lifetime with various leaders all around the world and also during various incidents of freedom struggle is kept. Martin Luther King Jr. visited the museum during his tour of India in 1959 and is said to have got his inspiration to launch a series of peaceful agitations against racial discrimination.

Mount Hope Station (Outbound)

Mount Hope Station was built in response to the sudden population growth in the Roslindale area in the late 19th century. While the Boston & Providence RR already had a 2-track right-of-way running through the Roslindale business districts southward to communities such as Needham and Dedham and to points south and west, Mount Hope Station was located on the newer 4-track main line running from Boston, Massachusetts to Providence, Rhode Island. As such it had popularity for travel in both directions.
The inbound side of Mount Hope Station was located at what is now Hyde Park Avenue at Blakemore, and the outbound side was located at and Florence at Blakemore (outbound). The outbound station constructed of stone and brick and the inbound building was constructed of wood. Its date of construction is unclear.
Sturgis and Brigham ordered a double-dial clock from the Howard Clock Co. in September, 1884, so it would appear that the outbound depot is the Sturgis & Brigham designed building.
The building has been demolished, but it is unclear when this occurred.

There's nothing more exciting than being Twiggy dor the day!
I'm not that much into models or modeling, but if I had to pick my favourite model, it'd be for sure Twiggy.
So beutiful!! I think I started watching America's Next Top Model because I knew she was in it... She's awesome! Tyra Banks? I really don't like her... She's funny though (unintentionally haha).
So here's my best Twiggy look. Of course she didn't have such chubby cheeks, but I'm quite happy with the makeup and hair. This picture was supposed to be B&W because it's some kind of a recreation of my favourite picture of hers, but I just couldn't give up the colours on my eyes. Twiggy's lashes were painted, but I thought falsies would be fun!
A little AJAX X10 Light controller I wrote the other night. The interface responds to changes in my apartment in near realtime. All communication runs through a php script on my website to a little VB service on my computer (which talks to a CM15A via the latest ActiveHome ActiveX Control).
Kinderdijk is the only place in the world where you'll find the largest concentration of operational windmills. There are nineteen windmills at Kinderdijk, and they were built between the years of 1500 and 1740. All specimens are well-preserved, and in 1997, the windmills were put on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
About the Kinderdijk Windmills:
More than half of the Netherlands is reclaimed land which lies under sea level, making the land prone to flooding. During the 13th century, periodic flooding became problematic, so canals were built to get rid of the excess water in the reclaimed land areas, called the Alblasserwald polders.
To keep flooding under control, the windmills at Kinderdijk were built to drain the excess water from the polders, and they would pump the excess water into a reservoir until level of the Lek River was lowered. However, in the 1860's the windmills could not cope with the amount of water coming into the polders, and as a result, pumping stations, powered by diesel fuel were set up, and the windmills were retired.
During World War II, diesel fuel became scarce, and it became difficult to operate the pumping stations, thus, the Kinderdijk windmills were brought out of retirement, and they were fully-operational until 1945, but were quickly closed down again when fuel became available. However, these noble windmills are not out of commission forever, as they can still be used in case of an emergency.

201 años dempués de la declaración de soberanía de 1808 Fai! quixo recordar esti 25 de mayu como'l día nacional d'Asturies. Pa ello, entamóse una folixa que cuntó con un recital poéticu, la ellaboración d'un mural y un conciertu con 4 grupos asturianos que punxeron la banda sonora a una xornada reivindicativa pola soberanía popular asturiana.
Más d’un cientu de persones participaron esti sábadu 23 na I Folixa Nacional entamada por Fai! como reivindicación y celebración del Día de la Nación Asturiana, recuerdu de la xornada qu’abre la historia contemporánea d’Asturies, el 25 de mayu de 1808, día de la declaración de soberanía de la Xunta Xeneral.
Doscientos ún años depués d’esti fechu y de la creación de la bandera asturiana, la organización d'esquierda soberanista Fai! quixo ufrir un menú folixeru y combativu nel marcu del CSOA La Reflexón. Abriendo les actividaes, Sergio Gutiérrez Camblor, Carlos Suari, Pablo X. Suárez, Xabel Vegas y Xandru Fernández protagonizaron el recital poéticu “Poetes agresivos (disparen les sos obres contra los que se duermen)”, onde tuvo bien presente, de la mano de los sos versos, la crítica social y la ironía más característica de cinco poetes que representaron na Folixa’l presente y el futuru de la lliteratura nacional, al tiempu que nes paredes se proyectaben imáxenes subversives qu'afalaben l'ambiente combativu del recital.
De siguío, dellos artistes plásticos emprimaben a diseñar un mural que tenía la histórica fras como protagonista: “Asturies enxamás vencida”.
Dientro del CSOA, organización, delles puestos de material y músicos ultimaben tolos detalles pa que dende les siete y media, la música entamara a sonar na I Folixa Nacional con un escenariu enllenu d'asturines y de banderes d'otros pueblos en llucha como les de los Països Catalans, Castiella, el País Llionés, Andalucía, Euskal Herria, Palestina...K-Nalón yera’l grupu encargáu de romper el silenciu col so rap dinamiteru 100% n’asturianu.
Darréu Arma X y 13 Palabras xubíen al escenariu de La Reflexón pa que la revolución de rimes nun aparara.Metanes l'actuación, una pancarta xubió al escenariu pa denunciar la illegalización de les idées y pola derogación de la llei de partíos.
Al finar esta actuación los sones reivindicativos dexaron pasu al actu políticu, onde militantes de Fai! lleeron un manifiestu en favor del 25 de mayu como día nacional d'Asturies. Enantes, un representante del Comité de Sofitu a Iniciativa Internacionalista n'Asturies, que llamentablemente foi la única organización qu'acudió a la llamada que dende Fai! se ficiere a los partíos de la izquierda nacional asturiana pa dicir unes pallabres, agradeció'l convite y presentó la campaña que ta desendolcando'l comité nesti país, a pesar de les torgues y la criminalización que careció y carez esta y otres munches opciones polítiques d'esquierda soberanista nel estáu español.
Na segunda metada del conciertu Vinagre de Sidra abría capítulu pa les guitarres y el rock, que yá na fin de la nueche diba zarrar Gomeru, depués de cinco hores de música dende la trinchera más reivindicativa del país.
Dende Fai! nun queremos que s'escaeza la nuestra historia, la historia d'un pueblu combativu que siempre supo tar a l'altura de les circunstancies. Güei tócanos a nosotres y nosotros, les y los asturianes y asturianos del sieglu XXI siguir na llucha en busca de la soberanía popular d'Asturies.

Eso es lo que dicen los informativos, que estamos afectados por una masa de aire siberiano. Lo llevan anunciando desde hace días como si el infierno fuese a caer sobre nosotros. Yo simplemento lo llamo invierno. Que ya tocaba. ¿Que hace frío? Pues nada, abrigo, gorro y bufanda.

Jillian Geurts trained in musical theatre and performance with The Fame Theatre Company from 1995-2005. During this time she performed many lead roles in various productions and toured Queensland three times. In 2004, upon discovering Zen Zen Zo's unique brand of physical theatre, she participated in their Youth Physical Actor Training for two years. Jillian was a member of the award-winning St Rita's College Showchoir for three years (2003-05) and in 2005 she won the senior section on the Toombul Time to Shine talent competition. In 2006 she performed in Children of the Black Skirt (St Rita's College) and as the lead role of Dorothy Brock in 42 Street (St Rita's College).
In 2007, Jillian undertook a gap-year in Europe, after which she returned to study film at Queensland University of Technology. Throughout 2008 she continued her training in Zen Zen Zo's adult classes, as well as training and studying Butoh dance-theatre. She worked on the front-of-house team for Zen Zen Zo's In the Raw production Zeitgeist and in late 2008 was accepted into the company's 2009 Internship group.
In March 2009, Jillian worked with Butoh master's Muramatsu Takuya and Yuyama Daiichiro during a three week creative development, culminating in the sold-out performance Gaia - The Dairakudakan Project. From this, she was selected for cast of Zeitgeist touring to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2009 and Adelaide Fringe 2010.
She performed the role of Miranda in Zen Zen Zo's production The Tempest, as well as assisted with the documentary charting the show's creation. In August this year, she will tour to Edinburgh to perform in Zen Zen Zo's tour of Zeitgeist.

The city of Pompeii was an ancient Roman town-city near modern Naples in the Italian region of Campania, in the territory of the comune of Pompei. Pompeii, along with Herculaneum and many villas in the surrounding area, was mostly destroyed and buried under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.

This dress is the ugliest dress I have ever bought. I liked the style but hated the pattern. Anyways, when I wore it....my aunt just loved it. I thought it was cute. She said it reminded her of a blouse she made with almost the same pattern. Just thought I'd share that with you.

So here we are :)
Today (not really "today" because i'm writing this description a day after the shot...) i explored the awesome set 1000 Faces of Eliza[beth] Grace (below you can find the links...) and i was so excited about her incredible shots that i wanted to do one like her.
This is Pam, after a little photo session in my bedroom :) She doesn't likes too much the usual "do this", "smile like this", "move", "try to be more expressive..." but this is what we got at the end of the session.
I'm very happy/proud of the result. I used a little lamp in total darkness to lighten up her face from right. What do you think of the shot?

De Luis I-brug (Portugees: Ponte Dom Luís I) over de rivier Douro is een opvallende boogbrug in de Portugese stad Porto.
De brug is vernoemd naar koning Lodewijk I van Portugal (Dom Louís I, 1861 - 1889), die de brug in 1886 opende.

The Luís I Bridge (Ponte Luís I) is a metal arch bridge that spans the Douro River between the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia in Portugal. At the time of construction its span of 172 m was the longest of its type in the world.
The Government held a competition for the construction of a metallic bridge over the Douro River on a site that was adjacent to an existing bridge and would replace it. Teófilo Seyrig had already engineered the D. Maria Pia Bridge project nearby, whilst working as a partner of Eiffel. He now took sole responsibility for the new, major Luís 1st Bridge. The construction was begun in 1881 and the bridge opened on 31 October 1886.
