A small town in the province of Lleida which sits at the foot of the Sierra del Tallat mountains, in the valley of Maldanell. Its origins date back to a Cistercian monastery which came to be the most important female monastery of the Catalonian-Aragonese Crown.
The monastery was founded in the 12th century and when the Trento Council decided that female monasteries must not be left abandoned, the inhabitants of the area built a village around it. At present, the monastery of Vallbona de les Monjes houses a significant female community. Its architectural wealth lies in the wide variety of styles on display on its walls and exterior, the best of examples of which are the church door, the cloister and the chapter house. Vallbona de les Monges forms part of the so-called Cistercian triangle, along with the monasteries of Poblet (Conca de Barberà) and Santes Creus (Alt Camp).

Part of my weekend was spent in this Buddhist temple, Hwaeomsa Temple. This is one of the most important temples in Korea, dating back to the Silla Dynasty (544). You can read more about the temple here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hwaeomsa.

It marks the day in 1878 that Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohammad Bin Thani succeeded his father as leader of the tribes of Qatar.
Fighting for independence from the Ottomans, the British and other Arabian Peninsula tribes, Sheikh Jassim is considered the founder of Qatar for unifying oft-divided local tribes under his leadership, and winning autonomy for them.

En imagen: Tramo ubicado pocos metros antes de llegar a 1ª Junta. Túnel independiente Norte que enlaza actualmente con la vía 4 proveniente de Primera Junta. Por aquí tuvieron que caminar los pasajeros varados entre las estaciones Carabobo y Puan, teniendo que caminar hasta la "terminal operativa" de la línea. A pesar de todo, la terminal física sigue siendo Carabobo. La gente sabrá que esto es así?
12:42 Fue esta mañana, cuando una formación quedó detenida entre Carabobo y Puan. Tras permanecer más de media hora dentro del coche, la empresa los hizo bajar y caminar por las vías hacia la estación Primera Junta.

Más de media hora encerrados y sin respuestas. Así estuvieron los pasajeros de una formación de la línea A de subtes, que quedó varada esta mañana, alrededor de las 10, entre las estaciones Carabobo y Puan. "Después de media hora, abrieron las puertas y nos avisaron que nos teníamos que bajar y caminar hasta Primera Junta", contó Mara, una de las damnificadas.
"Fue un mal momento. Nadie nos decía nada. Luego pusieron una escalera y nos bajaron pero a mí me tuvieron que ayudar porque estoy embarazada", agregó Mara en diálogo con Clarín.com. Tras el incidente, efectuó el reclamo por escrito. Lo propio hizo Diego Garre. "Tomé el tren en Carabobo aproximadamente a las 9:35/40. A las 10:08 llamé al 0800-555-1616 ya que la gente empezaba a bajar de los trenes sin que nadie avise nada, y ahí me informaron que si, que había un problema y que espere al personal. El personal estaba en la entrada de la estación Primera Junta haciendo señales, pero nadie vino a avisarnos que pasaba y de que manera debíamos descender del tren", contó.
Jorge Castro, otro de los damnificados, también se quejó. "Todos los empleados del subte desaparecieron y solo quedaron para tratar de dar explicaciones una pareja de policías, desbordados por la gente".
Desde la empresa Metrovías, confirmaron que la línea A estuvo interrumpida porque una formación, que iba hacia el centro, tuvo un desperfecto técnico a la altura de la estación Primera Junta. "Se les pidió a los pasajeros que se bajen y se pasen a otra formación, pero había un grupo que se negó y se generó como un tapón", dijo un vocero.
No alcanzó para calmar la furia de los usuarios. "Nos sentimos, ultrajados, basureados, vapuleados y creo que me quedo corta con estos adjetivos calificativos", opinó Marta Cestaro, que estuvo en la formación varada.

Además aplican un recorte de gastos del Estado. En la Comuna macrista admiten que los ingresos acumulados en 2009 están por debajo de lo esperado, sobre todo por la baja en Ingresos Brutos. Habrá demoras en trabajos de bacheo, vereditas y arreglos en placitas.

En la Ciudad ya hablan de "contexto recesivo" y confirman que deberán reducir gastos y "hacer más lenta" la marcha de las obras públicas.
Según la página de la Agencia Gubernamental de Ingresos Públicos, en el acumulado de los primeros cinco meses del año la recaudación alcanzó los $ 4.989 millones.
El dato más evidente de la desaceleración lo mostró el impuesto a los Ingresos Brutos, que creció un 20,4% en cinco meses, cuando en igual plazo de 2008 había saltado el 36,2%. ¿Por qué este número es el más indicativo? Primero, porque grava directamente sobre la actividad económica: si cae, quiere decir que las empresas porteñas están facturando menos. El segundo punto es que este impuesto representa el 70% del total de ingresos de la Ciudad, por lo cual cualquier mala noticia en este rubro tiene fuertes consecuencias.
Pero sí habrá retoques en cuanto a inversiones. En el Gobierno aseguraron que las obras más grandes no se frenarán: las del teatro Colón, el arroyo Maldonado (que tiene financiación del Banco Mundial) y las estaciones de subte Corrientes de la línea H y San José de Flores (imagen) y San Pedrito de la A. Es que este Gobierno, que ganó las elecciones con la promesa de una gestión eficiente y mucha inversión, no quiere tampoco verse obligado a frenar las obras más trascendentales. En cambio, sí podrían ir más lento en la reparación de baches y veredas, arreglos de plazas y otras tareas.
El ajuste también llegará por el lado de los gastos corrientes. Macri ya firmó el decreto N° 493, aún no publicado en el Boletín Oficial, que dispone que hasta fin de año no haya más contrataciones de personal ni compra de vehículos. También evitarán todo lo posible la compra o alquiler de inmuebles, se reducirán al mínimo las misiones y viajes del Ente de Turismo, no habrá viáticos para los funcionarios ni nuevos cargos jerárquicos, y se restringirán las entregas de subsidios y expropiaciones.
Es que el problema no es sólo de más o menos inversiones. Por la crisis, el Estado cada vez recibe más demanda de ayuda social. Fuentes del Gobierno contaron que, en lo que va del año, con el programa Ciudadanía Porteña pasaron de 60.000 a 65.000 familias asistidas por mes, y de 21.000 a 26.000 las que reciben tickets para comprar alimentos. Además, en los 360 comedores comunitarios saltaron de 34.000 a 36.000 raciones diarias de comida.

En la Ciudad tenían la previsión sobre una caída en la recaudación pero ahora admiten que en lo que va del año es mayor a la prevista. Sin hablar de freno se reconoce una marcha más lenta en la obra pública. Lo que debería ser una mala noticia en plena campaña electoral, puede convertirse en estrategia. A obras que ya deberían estar terminadas se le suman otras que incrementan la idea de Ciudad intervenida.

Trabajos en plazas
Hay varias intervenidas. En la plaza de Retiro ya hay demoras y en Constitución (foto) recién empezaron.
Pasos bajo nivel
De las 5 obras licitadas, sólo se avanzó en el túnel de la calle Dorrego (foto), bajo las vías del San Martín.
Intervenciones en veredas
El ensanchamiento de las veredas de Corrientes en Once debía estar para este mes. La obra aún sigue.
ABL y Patentes, con saldo negativo en mayo
No sólo Ingresos Brutos mostró números desesperanzadores. Las tasas de ABL y Patentes directamente tuvieron en mayo un saldo negativo respecto del año pasado.
La principal caída la sufrió Patentes, que facturó $ 28,7 millones, un 17,5% menos que en mayo del año pasado. Esto se debe, claramente, a la fuerte disminución en las ventas de autos: según informaron en el Gobierno, en mayo último hubo un 18,2% menos de patentamientos en la Ciudad respecto de igual mes del año pasado, de acuerdo a las cifras del Registro Nacional de la Propiedad Automotor.
La tasa de ABL, en tanto, mostró una caída del 4,4%, lo que demuestra que ya hay vecinos que están dejando de pagar. De hecho, la recaudación por los planes de facilidades de pago que la AGIP dispone para quienes tienen deudas aumentó un 28% en mayo.
La baja en la recaudación es un problema que en la Ciudad puede ser relativamente más pesado que en el resto del país, porque el Estado porteño se financia para sus gastos en un 88% con recursos propios. La Coparticipación Federal representa sólo el 12%, mientras que en la Provincia de Buenos Aires, por ejemplo, alcanza el 46,2%.
Arriba: Máquina removedora de balastro detenida en el sector "Este" de la futura estación San José de Flores. Si todo sale bien, la obra debería estar terminada a finales de 2011 pero todo parece estar muy lejos aún.

North Star Roller Girl Rhea Lentless is also a very talented wedding photographer. She asked me to come along as second shooter this past Saturday. We had lots of fun in the small arboretum by the Walker Art Gallery in Minneapolis, before moving to the ceremony itself in the (gorgeous) flower-pool garden of the McNeeley Conservatory in Saint Paul.
Rhea let me stage a few on my own. I just 'saw' this in my head but we couldn't find the groomsmen so we almost bailed on it. I'm glad now we didn't! It's one of my favorites from the whole day! :-)

Could you use a good fish story today? Once upon a time there were these beautiful fish who lived five miles under the ocean. How do I know? They were the subject of a PBS television special. So this is a for real fish story. Because these fish are really striking - they are incredibly colorful - some folks thought they might look good in someone's tropical fish aquarium. So, they tried to bring these fish to the surface. They didn't make it. They blew up when they got near the surface! They were designed to live under that pressure at the bottom. No happy ending - except they're leaving the rest of them where they belong - five miles under the ocean. That's where they were created to be!
It really works this way in all of God's creation. There's an environment that things and people were created to be in, and things really work when they're in that place. They really don't work very well when they're not where they were designed to be. Thankfully, God makes very clear the environment you and I were created for, so we don't have to waste our lives searching for it. In fact, probably the single most important question you have to answer while you're on earth is this: Why am I here?
God answers that question in six simple, life-changing words in His book the Bible. Our word for today from the Word of God comes from Colossians 1:16. Speaking of Jesus Christ, the Bible says, "All things were" - now here are the six words - "created by Him and for Him." Try putting your name in that Biblical statement. Here we go. "(Your name) was created by Jesus and for Jesus." Just like those fish were created to be in the pressure of that deep-sea environment. Just like the earth was created to be in an orbit around the sun, you were created for Jesus. You were created by Jesus for a relationship with Jesus, where you live for Jesus.
All these years you've been away from the one that your heart's been searching for all along. Isn't it time to experience the relationship you were made for - to finally be where you were born to be?

Large on black canvas | My favorite shots
Location: Along a fishing-lake at Haren-Ems (Emsland) Germany.
Description: Taken this morning while I was driving somewhere near the city Haren, when I noticed a large (sport-fishing) lake on the right side of the road. Initially I wanted to take some shots of this lake together with these thick cloud formation. But when I looked at the right side along this lake, I noticed these streamlined sky that seemed like a vein of heaven. So, I mounted the camera on my Manfrotto, made some shots, with different f-stops, from a low-angled position. When I got home, I was really surprised about how the sky eventually turned out: it was exactly what I had in mind, but it wasn't quite noticeable on spot with the relatively little LCD-display and bright low-angled morning sunlight.
Exposure: 3 brackets of -2 Ev, +/-0 Ev and +2 Ev at f/8, securely mounted on a Manfrotto 190.
Technique: HDR Tone Mapping & PS color and contrast enhancements.

Today i was feeling really out of shape but then we did a super intense workout in dance. It was so great.

Ronda was first settled by the early Celts, but its subsequent Roman and then Moorish rulers are reflected most prominently in its architecture. The forces of Catholic Spain took control of the town in 1485, during the Reconquista.
Ronda is situated in a very mountainous area about 750 metres (2,500 ft) above mean sea level. The Guadalevín River runs through the city, dividing it in two and carving out the steep, 100 plus meters deep El Tajo canyon upon which the city perches.
Three bridges, Puente Romano ("Roman Bridge", also known as the Puente San Miguel), Puente Viejo ("Old Bridge", also known as the Puente Arabe or "Arab Bridge") and Puente Nuevo ("New Bridge"), span the canyon. The term "nuevo" is a bit of a misnomer, as the building of this bridge commenced in 1751 and took until 1793 to complete. The Puente Nuevo is the tallest of the bridges, towering 120 metres (390 ft) above the canyon floor, and all three serve as some of the city's most impressive features.

I would like to introduce to you Anwar!!! For the past 18 yrs. I get my morning coffee from Anwar!! The best coffee $.75 for small, $1.00 for medium, $1.25 for Large and any danish $1.25!!! I am not kidding for $2.00, I have my morning breakfast!!! Some of those fancy and not so shmancy places for a small cup of coffee they charge close to two bucks!!! and some of them not so good for drinking, I know I am a coffee addict. I'll continue in a bit I need my coffee now!!! Not kidding either!!! LOL!! brb!!
I am back!!! Anwar starts work at 3:30am, he has his ambulant booth/stand on the corner of 42nd and Second Ave. and packs and leave with his booth at 11:30am!!! Few times around 10:00am I see him tired sitting on the cooler in his booth. I always wanted to take his picture!! Well today was a good subject for it in photochallenge: TIRED!!
If you are around that corner, stop by his booth say hello and try his coffee or cold drinks!! He is there M-F rain/snow/shine!!

1. What I like to photograph the most:
Whatever I see through my viewfinder… but seriously, I really don’t know, I’m still trying to find that niche which appeals to me.
2. What I like to photograph the least:
You know when someone says, can you take a picture of us… Any time a sentence starts off that way, I just don’t like to do it because it’s not composed…
I also don’t like to take a picture of a picture (e.g. artwork in a museum) unless I use it selectively with depth.
3. Photography Pet Peeves:
When people take images with tripods that could otherwise be done handheld (and I know they’re not stopped down or taking HDR images too)…
Speaking of which, anyone want to buy my tripod ;-)
4. What I admire from other photographers:
Everything they can do that I can’t!
But I admire and value their sincerity, their willingness to share and not be snobby.
5. What I'd like to learn better:
I don’t own a strobe so the first item on my list is lighting!
Also: fashion photography, creative manipulation, portraits… basically everything you don’t see on my stream.

I took this picture in the beautiful area of Friburgo - on the " Serra " its a wild hortensia - I had never seen one wild - taken during a walk "up in the hills" with my dear friends into the one of the most beautiful natural enviroment I have seen,I was so happy there ... and there it was the bright blue hortensia ... it had just bloomed! .... and as the terrible floods that have destroyed the " Zona Serrana" - just about 100km off Rio- Nova Friburgo, Teresopolis, Petrópolis, Sumidouro, São José do Vale do Rio Preto - this is my small tribute to the victims of this tragedy - meu pequeno tributo as vitimas desta tragedia; may it all bloom again as this little hortensia from Friburgo. My heart goes to all those people and also to my friends over there ... this is my small homage to all the victims of these terrible floods. So all together let us work for this not to happen to our planet

I apologize if i'm being redundant for some. but this morning on january 12 was a great exciting day, fog wise. :)
Every time i go there, there's always something happening. a large atmospheric detail, or a tiny detail. general mood is different too, tones. everything.
With an effective 640mm i can now reach details on the other side of the lake, probably one or two kilometers away. maybe more? i admit having troubles evaluating the distances above Lake Sammamish.

Now if human engineers can do that, don't you think God can? In fact, God's mountain-moving ability may be your only hope right now.
Let's remember the miracle Jesus promised to us, as recorded in our word for today from the Word of God. In Mark 11:23, He says, "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." Obviously, it's not the power of your word that removes mountains; it's the power of God. The words immediately preceding these dramatic promises are these: "Have faith in God."
But we have a God who does remove mountains that appear as if they could never be moved - in answer to the faith-believing prayers of His children. And this may be one of those times when the only way there's going to be a road for you is if God blows away the mountain that stands in the way. But you can ask Him, you can trust Him to do just that, within the boundaries of His perfect will.
Our mountains don't usually come in the form of huge rock formations. For you, what blocks the way might be a person whose heart is hard; whose heart needs a miraculous change. God does those. According to Proverbs 21:1, "The heart of the king is in His hand." Maybe your mountain is seemingly impossible financial obstacles. That's the kind our ministry was facing as it became clear that God wanted us to build our own headquarters to better carry out His orders. We didn't have one dollar in a building fund, we had no reserves and no clear idea of where such an amount would come from. But in less than a year, there was the headquarters, totally debt-free. There was this mountain, and then by God's power and grace, there was a road.
Maybe it's going to take a change of leadership in order for there to be a way, a miraculous recovery, or a seemingly impossible breakthrough. God does all of those, too. God's allowed you to run up against this mountain so you would run to the end of you. All our lives, we underestimate and under trust the God we have. There's way too much of us and way too little of God. And then there it is - that massive mountain in the way, so huge there's nothing you can do to move it. Praise God you are at the end of you and possibly at the beginning of unleashing your Lord as never before.
Looking at that mountain, you'd have to say, "No way." But looking at your all-powerful God, don't you ever say, "No way." He blows away mountains and makes a road where you could have never dreamed there would be one, and then He gets all the glory!

Los pliegos de la licitación marcan tiempos distintos a los de la política.
Las primeras 5.000 lectoras de tarjetas estarán colocadas en no menos de 360 días hábiles. El proceso exige “pruebas piloto”, “un plan de proyecto definitivo” y otros pasos que retrasarán la implementación. Toda la red metropolitana se cubre con 17.000 máquinas.

El Sistema Único de Boleto Electrónico (SUBE) no podrá seguir los tiempos que le impusieron la política y la necesidad de los usuarios de conseguir monedas para viajar todos los días. Los pliegos de la licitación marcan otra realidad. En una primera entrega, 5.000 lectoras de tarjetas magnéticas estarán colocadas en no menos de 360 días hábiles, es decir, en 16 meses. Y las 10.000 licitadas en este primer proceso público recién marcarán boletos a fines de 2012. El total de máquinas necesario para cubrir las 340 líneas de colectivo y las 259 estaciones de tren de Capital y el primer cordón del conurbano bonaerense asciende a 17 mil.
El pliego de condiciones particulares de la Licitación Pública Nº 4 para la provisión y mantenimiento de lectoras de tarjetas magnéticas para colectivos, subte y trenes fue adjudicado el 14 de julio a la UTE conformada por Siemens, Metronex (Grupo Roggio) e Indra.
Cuatro días después el secretario de Transporte, Juan Pablo Schiavi, intentó calmar la ansiedad de los viajantes de abandonar el pago con moneda: “La tarjeta única para el pago de boletos funcionará en todos los ramales de trenes metropolitanos dentro de un mes o un mes y medio”. El cronograma de entrega le da prioridad a los colectivos y luego a los ferrocarriles.
Al volver a la provisión de máquinas para el transporte automotor, el Anexo IV del pliego de condiciones, Nación Servicios (la unidad de negocios del Banco encargada de administrar el sistema de transporte) marca los pasos a seguir. “El adjudicatario deberá efectuar las pruebas solicitadas en un lapso no mayor a los 10 (diez) días hábiles contados a partir de su notificación”. Las tres compañías proveedoras fueron informadas por la entidad estatal de la adjudicación a mediados de julio, por lo que estiman que completarán “el período de testeo” a fines de mes, según contaron a este diario.
Además, el documento oficial les exige que el 3 de agosto presenten un “plan de proyecto definitivo”, en el que deberán detallar las condiciones técnicas, estrategias de instalación y los servicios que brindarán, una vez que se les notifique la “orden de compra”. Es decir, que la UTE conformada por Siemens, Indra y Metronex pondrá en funcionamiento el “plan piloto” una vez que reciba el primer cheque de manos de Nación Servicios. Ese proceso podría demorar otros 15 días adicionales.
En una tercera instancia, el Gobierno tendrá que “aprobar el plan de proyecto definitivo”, dentro de los siguientes 30 días hábiles, y recién después las proveedoras estarán “habilitadas para la puesta en producción de 2.000 equipos para las líneas de colectivos involucradas” dentro de los siguientes 150 días corridos.
Una vez que se coloquen esas 2.000 lectoras, con sus respectivos “68 equipos móviles de descarga de transacciones” y “100 terminales de inspección”, las compañías tendrán permiso de colocar otras 2.000 lectoras durante los siguientes 180 días hábiles.
El cronograma de entregas de las 10 mil máquinas sigue. El proceso completo podría demorar más de tres años.
En concreto, una semana antes de las elecciones se repartieron 50 mil tarjetas SUBE. Se subieron al sistema Monedero ya instalado en el subte y las líneas de colectivo 101, 50, 5, 8, 61, 62 y el ferrocarril Urquiza.
De las cinco licitaciones, cuatro ya tienen ganador oficial
El Gobierno dio varias definiciones el viernes a la noche sobre las licitaciones pendientes en el SUBE. Según pudo saber Crítica de la Argentina, Nación Servicios calificó de “no elegibles” a Indra y a Unión Transitoria de Empresas (UTE) formada por la filial local de Tallion, la estadounidense HID y la coreana EB Corp. Esos grupos compitieron en el concurso Nº 5 con otra UTE formada por Metronex (grupo Roggio) y Siemens. Por descarte, fuentes del sector comentaron a este diario que la alianza entre la alemana y el grupo que opera el subte “se quedaron con el negocio del clearing”: la puesta en marcha del sistema de back office que administrará la recaudación diaria de cada medio de transporte. La cuarta licitación (concurso para la provisión y posterior instalación de lectoras magnéticas) fue adjudicada a la UTE Siemens, Metronex y la española Indra el 10 de julio.
El resultado de la segunda y tercera licitación pasó inadvertido. Ganaron Telecom y Global Crossing. Cada una se encargará de uno de los centros de cómputos que demandarán un total de 1,08 millón de dólares.
La filial latinoamericana de Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) se quedó con la tercera licitación. El concurso, del que también participaron Transtex y Gemalto, fue para elegir al proveedor de 50 mil dispositivos de carga y descarga de tarjetas. G&D, de capitales alemanes, fue adjudicataria de la primera licitación de provisión de tarjetas. Fabricará cinco millones de plásticos inteligentes a cambio de siete millones de dólares.
