En-route to Haystack from the summit of Warnscale. It is difficult to imagine how strong the wind was from this tranquil view! With my 6 feet 1 inch and 200 pounds frame I could lean against the wind ! :) But the climb was worth every ATP !

After far too long and busy week I treated my self with an early wake up and driving to Long Reef to take some shots which last time I didn't have chance to do. Wonderful start before the rain started to spoil this morning sunrise...

Once upon a time Courtney and Ashlie randomly started talking on myspace. they were both sad because they just recently lost their bestfriends because people suck. They started talking and realized they had lots in common so Ashlie was all like "Hey let's be bestfriends!" and courtney was all like "ok!" and they were bestfriends. Then they talked on the phone and stuff every day. One day Ashlie called Courtney and told her to come over and watch Twilight and she did! They hung out and were the bestest friends ever! But one day, the evil ecomony made Ashlie move to Kansas! Courtney cried and cried and the last day they saw eachother was the day this picture was taken. Courtney and Ashlie still talk almost every day. They can't wait for Ashlie to move back to Ohio so they can get an apartment together and be bestfriends again.
I love you Ashlie!
Pink hair, that's meee (:
I gave her that necklace,
she gave me that headband, which I still have!
First off: What a JOY it was to take these photos! In the usual run of things I loathe photographing the outfits. Things took a dramatic turn for the better when Frigg Ragu gave me an unbelievable present in the shape of her poses. And what beauties they are: No weird deformations on the avatar structure, no funny angles jutting out where there shouldn't be any. And beautiful, fluid body language on top of technical expertise! Thank you sooooooo much Frigg! You literally made my day!
This one here is a bit of a change of pace. What with summer in RL and all that, we have been doing quite a bit of naughty stuff of late with only prims and little bits and bobs barely concealing the parts which need to be concealed on a virtual body to allow one to enter even a mature sim these days. So, for all those bashful avatars out there, here is one which is well covered indeed.
The "manbo!" sailor takes its name from an amazing animated attachment of that name created by a most generous soul named Gonzo Shan. I have put the maracas that will let you "manbo!" as an extra little gift into the box which also includes male/female skins, garments, a naval collar and cap, upper and lower "manbo" sleeves and bottom flares, boots, a skirt for the ladies and some rotating naval pennants for ladies and gentlemen. The hair is by none other than the amazing Bryce Tully who is THE hair designer to go to if you want really natural looking ultra short hair in Second Life.

I swear I must be medically unstable or something, my stream is like a jumble or different crazy people all thrown together!
We managed to find a beach this evening and watched the sun set over the mountains, I think it has to be up there with one of the most stunning views I've ever seen. Sadly, it didn't entirely distract me from the fact that there was almost a foot of snow in places behind me and I had my feet in freezing water :P
The weather was amazing today, starting to wish I could ditch England and it's lovely rain :P I seem to be permanently boiling at the moment so am skiing in a tshirt, oh and the tomato tone facial state is getting increasingly worse :/ I'm going to have to start doing bw photos soon or something haha
Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend :)

The Cathedral of Morelia is a religious compound headquarters of the Archdiocese of Morelia of the Catholic Church in Mexico. It is located as the name itself says it in the city of Morelia, capital of Michoacan, Mexico. The cathedral is located on the first frame of the city, forming the trace of the Historic Center of Morelia. The building was built in the eighteenth century the Spanish colonial times, is in Baroque style and is made of pink quarry which gives it a distinctive and characteristic color.
# Architecturally, the Cathedral of Morelia compared against other Cathedrals in Mexico is similar to the Metropolitan Cathedral in Mexico City, Puebla Cathedral, and even inside the Cathedral of Guadalajara.
# The cathedral is the most emblematic and representative buildings of Morelia given their height, since it has two tall towers that can be seen throughout the valley of the city. For his height, the towers of the Catedral de Morelia (66.8 m) are the fourth highest in Mexico after the towers of the Sanctuary of Guadalupe (Cathedral Unfinished) in Zamora de Hidalgo (105 m) of the cathedral in Villahermosa (80 m) and the Sanctuary of Guadalupe, San Luis Potosi (68 m).
# Has a unique scenic beauty lighting placed by the company that lit the Eiffel Tower in Paris. On weekends, the cathedral offers a sound and light show with this lighting.
# The cathedral is dedicated to the Transfiguration and its interior houses two highly venerated image, Sacred Heart of Jesus who is the patron saint of the city, and the Lord of the Sacristy a Christ very old paste made of cornstalks. Which is much visited and loved by the congregation.
# Its beautiful architecture and history are other reasons why it has become an icon of the city.
# Inside this enclosure because of its beauty, sound and spacious sound, set for a variety of artistic and cultural events as the International Organ Festival in Morelia, and the International Music Festival of Morelia.
The current cathedral of Morelia was not the only cathedral in the city has had since 1580, when civil and ecclesiastical powers were transferred from Patzcuaro Michoacan to Valladolid (Morelia previous name), opened a cathedral, much lower the current size and artistic value. That building was located on the corner of the present streets of Corregidor and Abasolo. However, due to growth experienced by the city at the end of s. Sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, and because of a fire in 1584 severely affected the former cathedral building, it became necessary to think of another temple, larger, robust and important. That is why at the beginning of s. XVII the cathedral chapter began efforts to build the new cathedral.
Many projects were proposed, but until mid-century the project was accepted by the Italian architect Vincenzo Barrochio, also known as the Plaster Vicente Barroso by the Viceroy Francisco Fernandez de la Cueva, Duke of Albuquerque on March 22, 1660 concluding continuous procedures and construction projects over a long period of almost 80 years.
On May 6, 1660 the first stone of the building was laid by Bishop Fray Marcos Ramírez del Prado. The building itself was given by Vicenzo Barrochio until his death in 1692, why the great architect could not see completed his monumental work. However, only 52 years after the death of the teacher, his pupils got through the daunting task of architecture, so that the magnificent work was completed in 1744.
The cathedral suffered several raids by the army for independence, in the year 1810. By the end of the nineteenth century built the perimeter fence that marks the atrium. In the late 90s of the twentieth century restoration work carried out various internal and external, thereby better preserved the beauty of the building. Also, in the early twenty-first century, opened the new stage lighting of the cathedral of Morelia.

Excerpt from fpf.ccidahk.gov.hk/en/location/detail.php?id=76:
Tsuen Wan Jockey Club Tak Wah Park was designed along the classical Chinese garden theme. The park, with an area of about 1.63 hectares, is located in Tsuen Wan town centre. Being a Chinese-style garden that is rarely found in Tsuen Wan, Tak Wah Park provides a fine place for relaxation in the bustling town area. Sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, construction works of the park were carried out in 2 phases. Phase I was completed in 1989, while Phase II was completed in 1995. Modelled on the setup of a classical Chinese garden, the park has rock mountains made from Taihu rock, thick foliage, ornamental lakes, ancient village houses, a "pai lau", stone bridge, a stone boat, a pavilion and a verandah. A "Chess Garden" was built in the park, where giant stone-carved pieces of Chinese chess are used to display the endgame for the deliberation of chess lovers. In addition, there are 2 theme gardens in the park, namely, "Camellia Garden" and "Herb Garden", where different species of Camellia and herb are grown. Tak Wah Gallery and Environmental Resources Centre are converted from ancient village houses on the site. They are managed by Leisure and Cultural Services Department and Environmental Protection Department respectively.
this is a spot in kefalari, kifisia, a bit of northern athens (on the map). it has a little roundabout where the cobblestone curves upwards towards the central green. it's quite pretty, with cafes, restaurants and a park, and people gathered to enjoy a particularly mild sunday afternoon.
i'd wanted to take a picture here for a few days now, but, now that i look at it again, i can't say i'm very happy with it... especially that awful blown out sky.

Fall colours at Deer Lake in Burnaby near Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
About this photo: Fall is my favourite season and that season starts tomorrow! I am so excited and can't wait for the leaves to change colours soon. In the mean time I will share a photo I took last year around mid October at beautiful Deer Lake in Burnaby near Vancouver. This place is only about 10-15 minute drive from my place, so I will be checking it out over there frequently and hope that the colours will be as vibrant this year as well.

Some information on Deer Lake Park: Burnaby is a city which belongs to the Greater Vancouver area and is about 10-15 minutes from downtown Vancouver. Deer Lake is a relaxing 5 kilometre/3 mile walk around an urban lake just outside of Vancouver. The walking trail around the lake is good any time of year and is very popular with dog walkers in and around Burnaby. Trails in the park lead to a kids playground, washrooms, a boat launch and picnic tables. In the summer months Deer Lake Boat Rentals offers canoe, kayak and pedal boat rentals. Gas or electric motors are not allowed on this lake.
Deer Lake is also home to the Burnaby Art Gallery, Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, Burnaby Village Museum and Century Gardens. The Burnaby Art Gallery manages the City of Burnaby's permanent art collection while the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts is a multi-purpose community arts facility providing public exhibitions, performances, festivals and art classes. The Burnaby Village Museum depicts life in the area from the 1920's. They have reconstructed 31 full scale buildings over 10 acres, with staff in costumes like in the 1920's.
Deer Lake Park is a great place for outdoor activities and cultural life in Burnaby. Whether you want to visit an art gallery or see an outdoor concert, Deer Lake Park is the place you will find it. Your kids will love the park for the beach, the playground, the water activities and the Burnaby Village Museum. In the summer months the park comes alive with outdoor concerts and lake activities and in the off season it is a relaxing park to go for a quiet walk around the scenic trails.
I know I said I am coming to the end of my Old Tukai Elephant series but I just realised there are a few more shots I would like to share here. I think I am experiencing some kind of inertia about moving over to other animals. I still have tons of photos I like and would love to upload, but I find myself transfixed by the elephants. And Amboseli skies. Does this happen to you guys? Do any of you think back to a particular photo adventure and find it difficult to move on from it?
This photo was in my deleted pile for the longest time as I didn’t like the way the elephants are spaced out, but when I looked at it yesterday night I fell in love with it. This photo is perhaps the most moody of all my Ol Tukai photos; the swirling rain clouds and the solemn elephants present an almost stoic picture. And I love the way their tusks always seem to glow in against their dark skin. Ironic isn’t it, their most impressive asset is also their most cursed

11/04/00-11/04/09=R.I.P. Happy Anniversary???
How uncomfortable it is to have a date that should by all rights equal happiness and love..be a day of discomfort and uncertainty. Gone are the flowers...the cards...the sweet sentiments...the forget-me-nots...the gift of love and adoration. Replaced by foulness..anger..bitterness...blame...finger pointing and an incessant need to run fast in any other direction! Today shall be a tough one as I am in the throws of divorce and moving on yet still in my complacency and awaiting the loose ends to be tied up. There is no finalization yet..it is limbo at its best. How does one get uncomplicated in a complicated mess? I do not cry or hope or wish or beg...for it is not the loss of my husband that bothers me but certainly I will mourn the loss of what I thought things would be....
BUT that road ahead sure does look colorful, bright and inviting..I think I shall get on it!

"Never speak to a woman about her defects; many a lover has had occasion to congratulate himself on having observed this very profitable reticence. The wingèd-footed hero, Perseus, never found fault with Andromeda for her swarthy skin. Andromache was, in everyone's opinion, far too tall; Hector was the only one who considered her of the average height. Accustom yourself to the things you don't like; you'll learn to put up with them; habit makes a lot of things acceptable. At first, Love will be put off by the merest trifle. A freshly-grafted branch that is just beginning to draw the sap.
from the green bark will fall off if the slightest breath of wind disturbs it; but if you give it time to grow strong, it will soon resist the winds and, developing into a sturdy branch, enrich the tree that bears it with its alien fruit. Time effaces everything, even bodily defects, and what we once looked upon as blemishes will one day cease to seem so. At first, our nostrils cannot bear the smell of the hides of bulls; they grow used to it in time and bear it without distress.
Moreover, there are words you can employ to palliate defects. If a woman's skin is blacker than Illyrian pitch, tell her she's a brunette. If she squints a little, tell her she's like Venus. If she's carroty, tell her she's like Minerva. If she's so skinny you would think she was at death's door, tell her she has a graceful figure. If she's short, so much the better, she's all the lighter. If she's thick-waisted, why she's just agreeably plump. Similarly, you must disguise every defect under the name of its nearest quality. Never ask her how old she is, or who was consul when she was born. Leave it to the Censor to perform that uncomfortable duty, especially if she has passed the flower of her youth, if the summer of her days is over, and if she is already compelled to pull out her grey hairs. My young friends, that age, and even an older one than that, is not without its pleasures. It is a field that you should sow and one day You will reap your harvest. Labour while your strength and your youth allow. All too soon tottering eld, with noiseless tread, will be upon you. Cleave the waters of the ocean with your oar, or the glebe with your slough; wield with warlike arm the deadly sword, or devote to women your vigour and your care. ’Tis but another kind of military service, and in it, too, rich trophies may be won.
Nor should it be forgotten that women, who are getting on in years, have experience, and it is only experience that sets the seal of perfection on our natural."
Unfortunately this english translation of Ovid's ars amandi by y J. Lewis May in year 1930 is very victorian, epurated of every reference to sex. Here he talks about woman's defects instead of translating it "Believe me you must not accelerate to get the extreme pleasure". Mr. Puritan lives just in another world! Here the link to his translation www.sacred-texts.com/cla/ovid/lboo/

The Common Chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes), also known as the Robust Chimpanzee, is a great ape. The name troglodytes, Greek for 'cave-dweller', was coined by Johann Friedrich Blumenbach in his Handbuch der Naturgeschichte (Handbook of Natural History) published in 1779. Colloquially, it is often called the chimpanzee (or simply 'chimp'), though technically this term refers to both species in the genus Pan: the Common Chimpanzee and the closely-related Bonobo, or Pygmy Chimpanzee.
Common Chimpanzees are found in the tropical forests and wet savannas of Western and Central Africa. They once inhabited most of this region, but their habitat has been dramatically reduced in recent years.
Human and Common Chimpanzee DNA is very similar. The DNA sequence differences between humans and chimpanzees is about thirty-five million single-nucleotide changes, five million insertion/deletion events, and various chromosomal rearrangements. Typical human and chimp protein homologs differ in only an average of two amino acids. About 30% of all human proteins are identical in sequence to the corresponding chimp protein. Duplications of small parts of chromosomes have been the major source of differences between human and chimp genetic material; about 2.7% of the corresponding modern genomes represent differences, produced by gene duplications or deletions, during the approximately four to six million years since humans and chimps diverged from their common evolutionary ancestor.

CASTELLANO

LET THE LIGHTS TURN GREEN AND
LET THE ROADS BE CLEAR AND
LET NOBODY BE IN THE WAY
DAYLIGHT TRAFFIC MOVES SO SLOW
GOING TO FINALLY LET YOU GO
DOGWOODS BLOOM BY THE RIVER
COME HELL OR HIGH WATER YOU LL BE THERE WHERE I OUGHT TO
NOW I ALWAYS WANT TO BE THERE
WHEN YOU WORK THE WHOLE THING THROUGH.
YOU ASK ME TO DECIDE
LIKE THERE S A CHOICE THAT MATTERS,
LIKE WRITING LETTERS EVERYDAY.
BROKE AT LAST,YOUR EYES WON T FAIL
WAKING OUT ON THE WRONG DAY,
GOING TO LOVE YOU ANYWAY
COME HELL OR HIGH WATER YOU LL BE THERE WHERE I OUGHT TO
NOW I ALWAYS WANT TO BE THERE
WHEN YOU COME OUT OTHER SIDE
EVERYTHING I THOUGHT WE KNEW,
SOMEONE S OLD IS OUR NEW,

BUT THERE S ALWAYS MORE TO SAY

Excerpt from www.lecinqueterre.org/eng/arte/vernaantiochia.php:
Legend has it that in ancient times, a small wooden box was found along the coast of Vernazza, containing the bones of a finger of Santa Margherita's hand. After shouting the miracle, the inhabitants decided to build a church in honor of the Saint in the district called Isolotto. A strong storm, however, dispersed the relic and it appeared only some time later, exactly where it was first found. The Vernazzesi then built the church there, overlooking the sea, where it is today.
More prosaically, the church of Santa Margherita d'Antiochia was built in the 13th century in the Gothic-Ligurian style by the Antelami Masters on a pre-existing Romanesque building. Mentioned for the first time in 1318, it stands on a rock overlooking the sea. The octagonal tower, 40 meters high, is crowned by small arches and ends with an ogival dome. Between 1500 and 1600 the church was enlarged, extending the hall by two bells per nave, to the detriment of the original medieval façade which was destroyed. In 1750, new works on the church led to the covering of the Romanesque interior with Baroque style coverings, also replacing the wooden roof with vaults and raising the bell tower. In more recent times, in the years 1964-1970, the church was partially restored with the original internal structure and recovering the exposed wooden roof.
The church has two entrances: the main one is more hidden and less easy to reach, and a more comfortable one, in one of the apses overlooking the tree-lined square in front of the marina, opened during the 19th century. The interior with three naves is raised above the level of the square. It houses two 17th century canvases, the Baroque high altar from 1750, an 18th century processional chest and a wooden crucifix attributed to Anton Maria Maragliano.

ENGLISH
Castel Nuovo (English: "New Castle"), often called Maschio Angioino is a medieval castle located in front of Piazza Municipio and the city hall (Palazzo San Giacomo) in central Naples, Campania, Italy. Its scenic location and imposing size makes the castle, first erected in 1279, one of the main architectural landmarks of the city. It was a royal seat for kings of Naples, Aragon and Spain until 1815.
It is the headquarters of Neapolitan Society of Homeland History and of the Naples Committee of the Institute for the History of the Italian Risorgimento. In the complex there is also the civic museum, which includes the Palatine Chapel and the museum paths on the first and second floors.

One more entry for the SteamWars Madness on FBTB. But the last one.
After some great weeks the building contest on FBTB comes to an end. There were six rounds and each single one was a new challenge. This round was no different.
With no given category this time my decision fell on the iconic Boonta-Eve on Tatooine. All contest long i wanted a Podracer, but it wasn't allowed to build it in the "Speeder"-category. Now I finally was able to do so.
I don't just switched everything of metal into wood, but also changed Watto's Junkyard into a victorian JunkVilla.
I hope you like my take in this topic.
Because this is the last model of a Steampunk-series, i want to take the chance to thank the FBTB-team for hosting this great contest, all contestants for building so many cool entries and last but not least the people that voted for my creations and postet some great feedback here on flickr. :)
Ok now I finally took the time to process one of my favourite shots from the trip to cornwall. I usually tend to get a bit anxious when it comes to processing the shots which during vacation just looked so gorgeous and about which I was the most excited. I often fear that I don't do the scene justice with the shot and the processing. As you can guess this is not out of camera, that wouldn't have been enough for me to convey the emotions connected to this scene. It's a focusstacked DRI image. And I did a little more than usual to enhance the color contrasts between warm and cool and green and magenta.
It's such a bliss when after a clouded day the sun comes into view for sunset. I was desperately waiting for this moment since I knew it would come to bath the foreground into a warm light and give the sky a kind of ethereal look... Well might also be that this is only how the scene looked or felt for me, but I hope you guys also like it!!
cheers

Magma from the mantle intruded the deep crust and cooled slowly. Pyroxene and olivine started to crystallize from the magma. Since these where heavier than the surrounding magma, they sank to the bottom of the magma chamber where they became layered. Later, the remaining melt intruded higher levels of the continental crust, where it cooled and crystallised as tønsbergite, larvikite or lardalite. Some million years later the rock was carved and polished by glaciers during the ice age.

Think of me as programmable soda
Too much cherry?
Baby then you can just add cola
Think of me as programmable soda
'Cause you can
Can be a cruel fella
So okay, then I just back off
The vanilla
Think of me as programmable soda
'cause I've come
I've come to accept that
For lovelies you are a fanatic
But I can't
I can't let that throw me
Into a genital panic
Think of me as programmable soda
Too much cherry?
Baby then you can just add cola
Think of me as programmable soda
When you think
And boy when you drink
When you think of me

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go
To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star
This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far
To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell
For a heavenly cause
And I know if I'll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest
And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star

capturing a butterfly
with a camera
makes a great metaphor
for freezing fleeting bursts
of magical moments
each flitter is a unique gesture
which passes in an instant
each flutter is a singular motion
which never comes back
Looking through my viewfinder while trying to capture this butterfly reminded me how important it is to live in the moment. It doesn’t matter how simple or insignificant that moment might seem to be. I know that within it lie incredible wonders, but which only my heart can see.

Quell'odore è dato dai composti contenenti cianuro.

Introduction
This is a relatively-common butterfly that is unmistakable when seen at rest - the rings on the hindwings giving this butterfly its common name. The uppersides are a uniform chocolate brown that distinguish this butterfly from the closely-related Meadow Brown. Despite this uniformity, a newly-emerged adult is a surprisingly beautiful insect, the velvety wings providing a striking contrast with the delicate white fringes found on the wing edges. The dark colouring also allows this butterfly to quickly warm up - this butterfly being one of the few that flies on overcast days.
Variation in this butterfly is primarily focused on the rings on the hindwings, the lanceolata aberration being particularly striking, where the rings are elongated to form teardrops. Other aberrations occur where the rings are greatly reduced or completely absent. Huggins (1959) also describes a form in Kerry, Ireland, that is of normal size until 600 feet, when it starts to be replaced by a dwarf form that, at 1,000 feet, takes over completely.
This butterfly can be found throughout most of the British Isles, south of a line between the South Ebudes in the west and Banffshire in the east. It is also absent from the western parts of northern England, north-west of the Midlands, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. This butterfly forms discrete colonies where numbers vary from a few dozen to several thousand.
Aphantopus hyperantus
This species was first defined in Linnaeus (1758)
Conservation Status
This is one of the few species that is doing well, with evidence of increases in both distribution and population. It is not, therefore, a priority species for conservation efforts.
Habitat
A variety of habitats is used, although sites characterised as being sheltered and damp are preferred, such as woodland clearings, woodland edges and rides, meadows, hedgerows, road verges and country lanes, where the full heat from the summer sun can be avoided and where the foodplant is lush. The butterfly is not typically found in open areas, such as grassland or heathland.
Life Cycle
There is one generation each year, with adults emerging in the second half of June, peaking in mid-July, with a few individuals continuing into August. The flight period is relatively-short when compared with its close relatives.
Imago
Male and female are almost identical in appearance, although it is just possible to make out the feintest of sex brands on the forewings of the male, which contains special scent scales used in courtship. Males adopt an exclusive strategy of patrolling for mates and are often seen in ones and twos fluttering among the grasses that typify their habitat.
A mated female lays her eggs in a somewhat-chaotic fashion, typically perched on a grass stem and ejecting a single egg at random, often into the air, causing it to land in the vegetation. Both sexes take nectar from a variety of sources, Bramble and Thistle being particular favourites.
Adults feed primarily on Bramble (Rubus fruticosus), Fleabane (Pulicaria dysenterica), Hemp Agrimony (Eupatorium cannabinum), Kidney Vetch (Anthyllis vulneraria), Marjoram (Origanum vulgare), Privet (Ligustrum vulgare), Ragwort (Senecio jacobaea) and Thistles (Cirsium spp. and Carduus spp.).
Ovum
Eggs are a pale yellow when first laid, but soon turn a pale brown. The stage lasts between 2 and 3 weeks.
Larva
The larva is nocturnal and hides by day at the base of a grass tussock, emerging at night to feed on the tenderest parts of the foodplant. The larva hibernates while in the 3rd instar, but will feed on particularly warm evenings during the winter. Regular feeding resumes in the spring when the larvae can be found by torchlight feeding on grass stems, although they will fall to the ground with the slightest disturbance. There are 4 moults in total.
The primary larval foodplants are Cock's-foot (Dactylis glomerata), Common Couch (Elytrigia repens), False Brome (Brachypodium sylvaticum), Meadow-grasses (various) (Poa spp.) and Tufted Hair-grass (Deschampsia cespitosa).
Pupa
The pupa is formed in a flimsy cocoon, comprising just a few strands of silk, at the base of a grass tussock. This stage lasts around 2 weeks.
