We're in the process of expanding our front garden by more than 500 square feet.
We started last fall by removing three huge holly bushes from in front of the porch and building a vegetable bed in their place. That was Phase One.
Phase Two includes removing the sod from the lawn to make another vegetable bed and landscaping the areas around it.

(Anser caerulescens). Also known as the Blue Goose, and found in North America. It has two color plumage morphs, white (snow) or gray/blue (blue). These two colors of geese were once thought to be separate species but since they interbreed and are found together throughout their ranges, they are now considered two color phases of the same species.

Pals of the privies came together to watch Phase One of their plans to turn three areas of Glencoat`s Park into play areas for the children and teenagers alike.
Today the old swing park came down and over the new few weeks, we will see it up and running for the younger children to play and love for many years to come..

Phase II build-out at the South Germantown Bike Park. 118 volunteer hours in 3 days to get the beginner and intermediate lines open and running before the 2014 MoCo Epic.
With the addition of the engine and transmission, phase one of the project is now complete. The next step is to get the chassis outside and bring the body in for metal and body work, then paint, before mating the body and chassis back together
At the end of the autumn term, parents and carers of phase two children were invited to see work produced for the Winter exhibition. Year three presented their responses to the climate crisis; year four produced a museum exhibition showcasing their investigations into ancient Egypt; year five showed off vehicles produced as part of their 'How high, how far, how fast?’ project; year six took up residency in The Clipper on Union Street to respond to the question: ‘What does community mean to us?’ This fantastic event was really well attended and the children really enjoyed showing off the results of their learning through the term. A big thank you to all involved!
When things come full circle, I’ve learned they have lasting inspirations. In the 80s, my host sister studied abroad in Ohio, where she learned Phase 10. She brought back a deck to her small rural Costa Rican hometown and Phase 10 quickly became an enjoyable pastime. My host dad and I played Phase 10 several nights a week. For over 30 years my host family used the same Phase 10 deck. One of the most memorable games was when my parents came to visit, brought my host family a new deck, and my two dads played together.

D worked his ass off here. I helped, but he is the landscaping ninja. Pretty new baby aspen (six total), staked and with retaining walls. Pruned extant trees. Will likely put in nice rocks for ground cover and some sort of flowering bushy things here and there so it's not so stark. Will be fixing the fence and putting in 2x4s or some such at the bottom to keep the neighbor's runoff from screwing with stuff (stupid rocks and excess dirt, bah).
Bonus: In not too long, the babies will be as big as the other aspen, and we will have successfully blocked the view of the ginormous yellow house behind us. Yay!
