After much fiddling, finally got a valid mesh out of Processing and into Shapeways (via Meshlab and Blender). Very educational. I have a couple of these on order so I'll report further soon.

gives rise to a gametophyte phase that is amazingly different, and was formerly considered a different species - see photo below.

ok, I took @EvilNick's advice and switched the position of the LEDs and the chip thingy. I also added LEDs for NW, NE, SW, SE - so far, they are only connected to power, no inputs yet. The NSEW lights weren't working properly so I added a resistor. 4 of the lights' power goes to one row, then to the rail through the resistor. Same for the other 4. It's still not lighting up properly. N & E seem to work - they are on the same resistor. S & W don't light up at all. I checked the S&W resistor and it seems to be working. I'm not sure what the problem is. I double checked the inputs and they seem right. Help?
Another of Greg's phasers. This one is a one peice unit made of real metal, hand crafted.
The weight of this unit is significant, I'm pretty sure that if the phaser bit fails, a pistol whip with this unit would hurt like crazy
