Phaser from Star Trek TOS. Base replica from Wand Co., modifications by Steve Dymszo (SD Studios). Improvements include emitter nozzle and casting of grip from a Master Replicas phaser (more accurate than Wand's). "Tenturn" power setting knob replaced with modern metal DigiKey tenturn with silkscreened markings. More accurate "extra crispy" on phaser one sight plate masks the sound holes. Accurate power meter label added. repainted to more closely resemble how the props appear on television.
These are the photos from the Julien's auction, of the original phaser rifle prop seen in the second pilot episode, "Where No Man Has Gone Before."
Plastic model kit. Painted and then distressed with small soldering gun to simulate phaser destruction.

04/04/2020 21:53 Here is the last phase, after kissing the pleiades Venus breaks away and continues on its trajectory, it will take 8 years to witness this wonderful spectacle of the sky, in this photo consisting of 30 shots taken from the garden of the house, as we see Venus comes out of the field of the open cluster pleiades visible in the constellation of Taurus, quite close (440 light years), leaving behind the nearest stars Atlas and Pleione.

This phaser shows how the duct tape I used to hold them together during rough play has not weathered so well

I didn't grow up with Nintendo. I had a Sega Master System. One of my favorite things about the Sega was the very cool Light Phaser. It seemed very 'Star Trek' and 'laser tag' to me. I only ever had one game that used it (Safari Hunt) but I enjoyed that game, so it all worked out.

I got the proof copy of the next Phase 7 collection in the mail today. It collects issues #012-#016 and is 266 pages! It's called B-Sides, and it will be debuting at the Stumptown Comics Fest at the end of this month. I'll have ordering information for everyone else in the next week or two.
It's always fun to stack up all the comics I've done so far to watch the pile grow. This is a little more than 750 pages of comics. For those of you who are wondering... NO! That Basewood book is not publicly available. I'm going to do a kickstarter this fall to try and get it printed properly. More info about that later...

Hanayama, the Flower Mountain, is the first design that I stitched in on my journey to learn Japanese Embroidery.
The five mountains represent the 4 seasons and the cosmos.
In Phase I the student is taught the basic stitches that form the foundation for all the following Phases.
