Back in Kings Worthy but still nearly two km to go.
I've never been in the KC. Must drop in one day.
Thanks to James Brandon's useful article, I now know that this phot was taken during Civil Twilight with less than 10 mins to Nautical Twilight. The moon looked bigger to the eye but I couldn't zoom in any further without losing the sign and the light on the horizon.
Another last climb over Nelson's Hill then tea and buns before bath and a rest at home. Despite the cold and the short day I love the Watership Down ride. Now if only I could climb WD like I did the first time two years ago when I just went straight up without stopping.

Watership Down 108km Audax, 8th Jan 2011.
Started at Kings Worthy then north round the west of Andover via Wherwell, Abbots Ann, Weyhill to the Hatchet Inn at Little Chute.
Back into Hants to Vernham Dean and Linkenholt then up via Combe to Berkshire and a 'nice' climb up Walbury Hill. Down to Kintbury then back into Hants again to Ball Hill and through to Sandham Memorial Chapel at Burghclere.
South past Sydmonton then over Watership Down itself and a long downhill race towards Whitchurch which we miss out at the last minute to skip over another ridge to Freefolk and Laverstoke.
Finally a desperate race against the sunset back through Stoke Charity then over the horrible switchback back to Kings Worthy and home for a bath and a pint.
This year I finished in 7:25, just 20 mins before control shut. This was actually an improvement on last time (2009) because there was still some twilight to see by, and last time it was 2 mins to control closing.

ESA’s cave training prepares astronauts to work as an international team in real exploration conditions. Sending astronauts underground to survive and explore Sardinian caves in Italy for almost a week is just one element of their long training.
The caves are isolated from the outside world. The astronauts need to get used to confined spaces, minimal privacy, technical challenges and limited equipment and supplies for hygiene and comfort – just like in space.

An old Electro-Harmonix pedal from the dawn of time that I've owned since shortly after the dawn of time. I'm pretty sure, going by the pots, that it's a '77.
When I lived in Rhode Island I bought a little solid-state Electro-Harmonix amp for like $25. It was called a Mike Matthews Dirt Road Special. Nothing much to it. It had a Celestion speaker and a little 25-watt solid-state amp. It also had a built-in Small Stone Phase Shifter. It was actually a really cool little amp and I used it as a practice amp for years. Fell in love with the Small Stone while I had it. It was basically a little sealed speaker box with a few circuit boards and a transformer inside. I don't even recall when or why I sold it. I mean, it was a very basic amp. Just a tone control and a presence control. No overdrive of any kind. But with the Small Stone running on a slow rate it was a very trippy-sounding clean amp. And the Celestion sounded good.
Anyway, long before I got rid of the Dirt Road Special I'd bought this. I'm not sure why nothing seems to sound like it, but I've always really liked the specific sound of the Small Stone. Probably because I got the Dirt Road Special in my early 20's and I got used to the sound of a phaser being the sound of the Small Stone. Or it could be because the Small Stone uses Operational Transconductance Amplifiers instead of regular op-amps like almost all the other phasers out there.
Whatever it is, I've owned a whole bunch of phasers over the years. TC Electronics, Mutron (the Mutron was called a 'Phasor' instead of a 'Phaser'), Boss, Korg...and for some reason this is the one I like most.

It just so happens that she found her way in front of my camera as the AAR Superintendent's Special passed Canal Street on a unholy hot afternoon.
The sailing ship Balclutha appears to shift in and out of reality, like a TV channel that goes fuzzy every time someone walks past.

August 6, 2019 - I decided my kitchen needed a facelift. This all started because my dishwasher detergent cup no longer locks it broke in late June. The dishwasher was in the house when I purchased it in 1995. It is probably 30 - 35 years old so it was time to replace it. I was just going to replace the dishwasher however the previous owners put a new tile floor in which blocks the dishwasher from being easily replaced. I was never content with my kitchen the only work I have done to it was to replace the original drop-in oven which didn't work when I bought the house and the matching harvest gold exhaust hood was replaced with a white exhaust hood. I painted the walls yellow in 1996. The oven I bought in 1995 died in March 2018 so the oven is only a year old. I also replaced the kitchen faucet last August. I thought about just maintaining the faucet but decided to upgrade to a faucet with a pullout sprayer.
I engaged KitchenSaver to replace the cabinet doors and drawer fronts, countertop and sink. I want the kitchen to look brand new so hired a contractor to strip nearly 100 years worth of paint off the pantry and basement doors, door frames, window, window frame and sill and repaint the woodwork and walls. The contractor will also be installing wood base since the base was removed by a previous owner. I am also installing a Subway tile white backsplash which will go up to the bottom of the wall cabinets and on either side of the window.
I am a retired architect and it was fun getting back into design. I knew exactly what I wanted and took me no time at all to select everything.
I am going with an Arts and Crafts oak cabinet and drawer fronts. The wood stain is nearly a perfect match to the house woodwork and my furniture. Door and drawer pulls are bronze/copper in the Arts and Crafts style.
I also bought new light fixtures for the kitchen and dining room both with a bronze finish. KitchenSaver will be installing five dimmable LED lights below the cabinets and above the sink.
I decided to add a recycling/trash cabinet and pantry cabinet to fill in the dead space between the refrigerator and wall this necessitated the removal of the existing quad outlet that the refrigerator is plugged into. (no outlet behind the refrigerator) In order to do any electrical work in my house I had to bring the existing electrical circuit breaker panel up to current codes. Which meant I needed to replace the existing electrical circuit breaker panel. I had a duplex outlet added behind the refrigerator. With the new circuit breaker panel I now can use the microwave oven and toaster oven at the same time. What a concept! I also replaced the old fashion knob and tube light switch which controls the basement light. The old switch scared me and wasn't safe.
New window treatments for the backdoor and window. I wasn't able to find a blind which matches the Sherwin Williams Indian White SW 1035 paint color so I am going with a Levelor Cordless Cellular blind that is an exact match to the Sherwin Williams Koi Pond SW 7727 wall color.
One last improvement the contractor got paint stripper on the existing oven exhaust hood so I replaced the hood with a new black hood which matches the oven.

Phase two of a £1.7million CCTV overhaul is underway with key public places added to the programme.
Six cameras will be replaced at Castle Gate in Dudley.
It adds to the hundreds of new cameras already installed and now live in town centres across the borough.
