These are the photos from the Julien's auction, of the original phaser rifle prop seen in the second pilot episode, "Where No Man Has Gone Before."
A snapshot from a Dissipative Particle Dynamics (DPD) simulation of a A3B7 block copolymer melt undergoing microphase separation.
A3B7 means that the polymer consist of two parts (A and B) that have different solubilities. The total length of the polymer is 10, part A consisting of 3 monomers and part B of 7.

The original Maestro PS-1 phasers were cooler-sounding for guitar, but the Stage Phasers were just monsters for bass.
I built one of these for Cherokee Bunn a while back. He'd used one in the 70's with the Brides of Dr. Funkenstein and always regretted selling it.
When I finished the build I played my Junior through it and was like, "Eh...it's OK, I guess." But then I thought I should play a bass through it so I'd know the calibration was going to hold up under his bass signal. It sounded HUGE as a bass phaser. WAY better than with a guitar going through it.
So I've been meaning to build one for myself ever since.
Phase two of the minesweeper sub-project. Approx. 14000 pixelblocks.

Serged the edge of the board. Attached the yoke of the back part and applied the first top stitches in multi-colour yarn.

Background Pro Tip: If the show is set up on concrete, track down a cardboard box to stand on. This is a TEN hour show, so this is a real feet/knee saver.
Okay, transferred with all the essentials to hand, still don't know what to do about the cartouche and have to start cutting soon.

Orientation phase of CAVES 2011.
ESA’s cave training prepares astronauts to work as an international team in real exploration conditions. Sending astronauts underground to survive and explore Sardinian caves in Italy for almost a week is just one element of their long training.
The caves are isolated from the outside world. The astronauts need to get used to confined spaces, minimal privacy, technical challenges and limited equipment and supplies for hygiene and comfort – just like in space.

Amtrak's Heritage Phase II P42, the "Baconator", ambles past a model and what I guess is the director of a photo shoot along the Chicago River.
It just so happens that she found her way in front of my camera as the AAR Superintendent's Special passed Canal Street on a unholy hot afternoon.
