Because of the Santa Ana winds a big brush fire started around Camp Pendleton and the sky over the ocean was filled with smoke.

The raw (virgin) wool is carded 3 (or was it 5?) times and then transformed into a webby sheet which is later spun onto bobbins.
The carding process: taking fluffy sheep hair and turning it into a sheet of fluffy wool to be spun into yarn
