The first signature of this book isn't quite flush. I noticed this because our flight was canceled and I sat in Pasco's airport for 4 hours.

As the seat of Pendleton County, Falmouth is the site of the old Pendleton County Courthouse. This courthouse is a weird structure built in two phases 40 years apart. The first part, the boxy section at the front, dates to 1848. The second phase came in 1884, when they added what practically is a second building on the back, complete with a clock tower. The county renovated this courthouse in 1975, but that evidently wasn't enough to keep the people of Pendleton County happy. Also, it probably flooded in 1997, so the county built a new judicial center out by the US highway on the edge of town in 2011.
I went back and forth about whether I wanted to post a picture that looks at the building head-on, or whether I preferred this picture that emphasized the 1884 addition even though that tree blocks the view of the front door. Ultimately, I decided I liked this view better.
I might have mentioned before that I once had this idea to make a coffee table book with pictures of all 120 Kentucky courthouses. That would be pointless at this point in history, because nobody buys coffee table books anymore. But I should make a courthouse album on here. Maybe I'll do that the next time I get bored.
