The Pendleton waterfall can be reached by following the trail starting from the back of Pendleton lake in Blackwater State Park. After about 0.3 miles you need to leave the main trail and the fun starts. To me this has been one of the most challenges waterfall to reach. You need to go down along a very steep barely traced trace to the first waterfall, than things are getting even worse to get to the lower one. I did few steps on my butt to get there and I think this is not a place you can get if it has rained just few hours before. Saying that this is also one of the waterfall I loved more. I have been there by myself for a couple of hours and just enjoy the nature and had my "zen" moment. Too bad you have to come back up through the same very steep trace.... (-:

The picturesque village of Pendleton in the Ribble Valley. The pub on the right sells some of the best beer in England and also some great food :-))

The Pendleton falls include the upper and lower waterfall. They can be reach walking down a steep trail somewhere not easy to find and follow. This image is showing the upper fall late in the afternoon. It was a cloudy day but I was lucky some sun light beams went through creatins some good light situation, The image was taken with a 6 stop ND and a circular polarizer.

Happy Caturday has the theme "Peaceful" this week and Rena isn't known for her peaceful nature. When people are around, her tail is constantly lashing. I think sometimes it must have highly developed muscles.

But today she rolled in the sunshine while I was on the computer and her fluffy tail was still. So this is Rena at peace.

Happy Caturday has the theme "Favourites" and this is one of mine. Just taken today and my son and I like Rena's eyes in this one. She loves her perch but doesn't sit on it unless the rest of us are in the living room.

(for those of you who have asked about my broken bones here's an update. My left wrist is immobilized at least until the 6th of April but doesn't hurt much if my fingers don't bend backwards by accident. My left shoulder still hurts when I move my arm out from my body and I can't lift my arm higher than my waist. BUT, huge, I can take care of myself and have been out for lunch.

Kerri and Alex have been life savers and I'm so grateful to both of them for their loving kindness.)

Please forgive all the posts without commenting. We're off for the day and there isn't much access to this room.

By the way, Rena Pendleton is my grandmother's maiden name. We thought that would be fun.

The barn and horses are part of the Gifford Homestead in the Capitol Reef National Park in Utah.

This was taken the day Rena came home. She was such a confident kitten, eating, scratching on her post and using the litter box as soon as she got here, within minutes.

This was taken a few hours ago, playing with the Cat Dancer, always a favorite toy. Rena is still confident, although so skittish acting you might not think so.

(Happy Caturday theme; then and now)

Rena charms me when she comes and finds me between 1:00 and 1:30 p.m. This is treat puzzle time. She has a new, harder puzzle this week and it takes her longer but she goes to it first. She likes the new challenge, although maybe it's exhausting!

(P.S. Kerri and George have both been quite sick for too many weeks so Kerri hasn't been able to post. They're both much improved and she hopes to be back soon.)

Happy Caturday Group this week has the theme, "one word about your cat". Rena's word has to be "silent".

She doesn't meow, doesn't purr audibly, or even squeak if I accidentally almost step on her tail or she finds herself shut in a closet. She CAN meow loudly but only ever in the car on the way to the vet.

Rena's eyes do the talking.

Pendleton Falls is actually a series of dozens of small cascades that plunge hundreds of feet down into the Blackwater Canyon.

The highway in eastern Oregon on the way back from Pendleton, right through these great rock formations!

Rena is unusual in lots of ways but I think one of the most interesting is that she's silent. No meows, no audible purring, no chirruping; she can make a loud meow and does it on the way to the vet's but never, ever at home.

Her vet said that cats in the wild don't meow at each other and she was found on the streets near Los Angeles when she was tiny so we think she didn't learn this way of communicating.

Blackwater Canyon - West Virginia

Just got back from a 4 day trip to the beautiful highlands of West Virginia (Canaan Valley & Blackwater Falls State Park) where Fall colors are peaking. Wow - the Autumn foliage there is so spectacular, so vivid, so widespread. It was pure eye candy everywhere I went. Even on the overcast days (as when this pic was taken) the colors popped.

THANKS FOR VIEWING!

NS 9722 leads NS train I9N, empty auto train east near Pendleton, Missouri on Norfolk Southerns St. Louis District. I9N is a new weird symbol to me, hopefully it's a new train for this line.

An image taken during a moody and magical morning at Pendleton Lake in West Virginia. This spot quickly became one of my favorite Fall locations to shoot, and there is so much to explore in the immediate vicinity, with a dramatic overlook and forest booming with vibrant color during the Autumn.

Looking forward to more scenes like this just around the corner. :)

NS 9020 leads the former Columbia Star Dinner train east near Pendleton, Missouri on NS's St. Louis District. NS 9020 picked up the beautiful Wabash painted Columbia Star Dinner train set up in Centralia, Missouri then called NS train #957 and is taking it to Terminal Railroads yard over in Madison, Illinois where the Canadian Nation will take it from there and send it up north to it's new owner in Wisconsin. I'm just glad me and the misses got to have brunch on this train back when it was running trips between Columbia and Centralia, Missouri and back when we did.

The Bennett Point development replaces two surface parking lots along 12th Street in Cincinnati's Pendleton neighborhood, nicely blending in with the existing historic buildings on the street.

Arts area just east of Over the Rhine Historical District in Cincinnati. Final Friday Art Show is in the eight story, center right, building. The building was a warehouse for Shillitoe's Department Store. Verdin Bell's offices are in this area. One of P&G's towers is center right, several blocks to the south of this district.

I visited the falls on a beautiful, foggy morning. You can see the sun is shining brightly across the flat land above, but hasn't yet been able to reach all the way down into the canyon.
