Nice to see this old friend again at Luton, TAG Aviation UK operated Global XRS G-XXRS taxies out to enter runway 25 at Luton for it's departure. Gorgeous pearlescent paint on those engine nacelles.

Astra contains a good helping of both silvered glass and fine silver wire. The final encasement in clear glass magnifies the reactions between the glass and the silver to create an almost pearlescent effect, accented with dots of silver.

Some photocards from the Twilight DVD Borders Exclusive Edition.
I know they don't look as clear as they should... but they were printed on a pearlescent paper so that they could give a sparkly effect.
And I actually scanned them! =]
Deboxing the Designer SQ Elsa and Hans Doll Set. Elsa has been deboxed. She is posed standing, supported by a Kaiser stand. Her cape is in a normal partially opened position, and her right leg is showing through the slit in the skirt. Her hair braid is draped over her left shoulder.
I have finally deboxed the Designer Fairytale Snow Queen Elsa and Hans Doll Set (2015). My set is #4597 of 6000. It was the only set that I didn't get at the Disney Store raffle, so I had to order her online. I show the set boxed, during deboxing and fully deboxed. After deboxing them, I place them back on their display stand, in a different pose.
I was a little surprised that Elsa has the body construction of the 2012 DS Classic Princess dolls, so has external hinged knee joints and ankle joints. It makes her legs a bit unsightly when they are exposed by opening the slit of the skirt. She has shiny pearlescent skin that is similar to the Harrods Elsa doll, but doesn't have the heavy blush. Her Snow Queen outfit also has embellishments that are more similar to that of the Harrods Elsa rather than that of the LE 2500 Snow Queen Elsa. But rather than the jeweled snowflakes of the 17'' LE Elsa she has single clear rhinestones throughout her braid, and a few on her head. The snowflake and icicle design in her cape are printed rather than embroidered (as in the 17'' LE Elsas) or glittered (as in the Classic Elsa). They are flat and smooth, and I don't think are as effective in depicting ice.
The major embellishments of Designer Hans over Classic Hans are the addition of white gloves, and a sword. However, It's disappointing that there is no scabbard for the sword - it is loosely sewn to his pants legs, which looks rather cheap.
I will show the dolls in side by side comparisons to other Elsa and Hans dolls in future postings.

A group of peacocks is called, for obvious reasons, an ostentation. This is my linocut print of 'An Ostentation of Peacock. It is printed in metallic and pearlescent inks on Japanese kozo (or mulberry) paper 12.5 inches by 8 inches, in a slightly variable edition of eight.
The word 'Ostentation' is in a rather rococco and ostentatious typeface. I designed the font of 'Peacocks' to echo the feathers shapes and eyes.
...then it dried. The color is beautiful. This is only one coat, it gets another soon. It dried very light, and now I'm happy. I was after more of an effect rather than a color, and I got it. The shop is calm and {temp}cool colored.

This pretty pink, soft grey and lilac phone case has been hand crocheted from soft and tactile chunky yarn and finished with a strap over the opening fastened with a coordinating pearlescent button.
This cute little bag is crocheted using lilac yarn with a glitter thread throughout giving it a pretty sparkle. It features a heart shaped flap secured with a heart shaped pearlescent button and a short handle for carrying.
colour blocking was the theme for Day 6. I embossed the Hero Arts stamp onto three pastel pearlescent card and cut them up to make 5 cards...

Hook : TMC 300 #8 or #6
Thread, black, brown, or whatever
Eyes: Small bead chain
Body (rear): Olive pearlescent tinsel chenille
Tail/Dorsal fin: Two tan or dun barred or speckled hen hackle, tied Matuka style
Pectoral fins: Grouse or barred hen feathers
Thorax/head: Fur Out, brown & tan, twisted together
Start thread @ eye of hook, & tie in bead chain eyes. wrap a tinsel chenille body on rear 1/3 of hook, (i tied this "backwards" so my thread would be at the hook bend after wrapping the chenille body)
Tie in two matched barred or speckled hen hackles, dull sides in, to make a short tail, then bind the rest of the feathers Matuka style to the top of the hook, to the beginning of the chenille body. Tie off.
At this point Tie in one grouse body feather or one speckled hen hackle on each side, to make the pectoral fins.
Tie in two short (2 - 3") lengths of Fur Out, one brown, one tan. take hackle pliers and twist these into a "chenille rope". it will be a pretty fat rope. Wind as tightly as possible up to the eye of the hook, crossing over the bead chain eyes to make a woolly head. Tie off securely and whip finish.
Trim Fur Out head to a pleasing "sculpiny" shape.

My 2015 Elsa Limited Edition 17'' Doll, fully deboxed. She is posed standing, supported by the included doll stand.
The Limited Edition Elsa Doll, released in stores in North America on March 3, 2015. My doll is #2942 of 5000. She is in jeweled purple felt (made from faux wool). This is the outfit she wore as an 18 year old when saying good bye to her parents before their overseas journey. She is wearing ice blue jeweled satin gloves, which help repress her ice powers. Her hands are clasped together. Her pose and look are that of a sternly repressed nature. She is standing in front a purple window of the Castle, which is closed, as she is closed to the outside world.
She is wearing black flats with floral decoration. Her jacket is pinned to her dress, which I left alone, as it helps to keep the jacket from opening up. There was a large amount of tissue paper stuffing under her skirt. I had to remove her from the doll stand before I could remove the tissue.
She has shiny pearlescent skin, and her skin tone is between that of Coronation Elsa and Snow Queen Elsa. In bright lighting, her skin is iridescent with a a purple sheen. Her hair is slicked down in the front and is in a bun in the back. There is gold tinsel in her hair, even in her side burns.

PCAGOE February challenge- "celestial". This Mexican inspired wall art piece is the largest decorative piece I've ever made. It measures approx. 7 1/2 inches diameter. Metallic gold and silver clay along with other pearlescent clay and metallic seed beads add a little sparkle.
I repeated the featured flower design on the background of this pearlescent card and added a couple of 'get well soon' sentiments using a stamp from the Hero Arts set LL662 Small Greetings

Five blue lampwork beads featuring tiny roses form the cruciform beads of this Anglican 33-bead prayer chaplet. White pearlescent beads form the weeks, with a delicate silver cross charm terminal.
Anglican prayer chaplets were developed in the mid-1980s as an answer to the Roman Catholic rosary and the Eastern Orthodox knotted prayer rope. The 33 beads mirrors the 33 years Christ lived on earth, teaching and preaching.
2 HKX has Pearlescent paint work using sea shell particles. This changes the colour of 'Blue' daily, as the level of sunshine, depth of sunshine, height (or lowness) of the sun and also cloud cover and colour is reflected into the camera. It is a fascinating car to photograph. The iridescence (also known as goniochromism) of the paintwork has the property of appearing to change the colour dramatically as the angle of view or the angle of illumination changes.
Water colour for CardMakers on line class has started. First card finished. Used some pearlescent paints and a stencil. I cased Jennifer Razza's card.
