It was raining this morning, so I slept in. Went to the Arboretum for breakfast thinking I would be home early and get some chores done. But, the rain and wind stopped, and a little fog rolled in. The colors were saturated and the light was pretty good, so I ended up there until late afternoon.

View On Black

This green moss carpet lay on the back of a fallen tree. Skirted along the edges where burnished leaves that took on a red hue in the late afternoon sunlight. A refreshing day in the woods with family, taking in the beauty of late November and laughing all along the way.

Path leading from the lane to Croonaert Chapel Military cemetery.Just on the left where the trees are. The cemetery is situated in No Mans land between what was the German and British front lines during WW1.

March on. Do not tarry. To go forward is to move toward perfection. March on, and fear not the thorns, or the sharp stones on life's path.

Yes, there really is a cliff just to the right of this view, but not overlooking the sea. These are effectively the backs of houses in Jesmond Road, Clevedon, enjoying a superb view to the south. Parallel with the path is precipitous drop into what used to be Hangstone Quarry. The houses were built by W A Green in the period 1895-1905 and have some very fine details, some of which are visible here: decorative terracotta tiles on the window bays, patterned roofing tiles and elaborate woodwork on the gable ends (thanks to Derek Lilly's Builders of Clevedon for this information).
