Ancient Aliens Patches is a small project to create a limited collection of badges inspired by supposed original Mayan archeological finds. I love ancestral cultures, as the Mayan, and science fiction books and films, so this Ancient Aliens Patches are the perfect mix of both.
Sometimes I feel like I don't belong on this planet. Actually, many times and for many reasons, and I'm sure you too. It’s not just a question of being different but you really are, each of us is unique. Each one in its own way is special. So I decided to design and produce these identificative patches, thinking about all those people who sometimes feel out of place, that they are not like the others and hope someday to return to their true home, with their own.
I believe we are not alone in the universe, so I will be waiting for my friends from the stars to come and pick me up soon or late.
Last week had a chance to meet Jill Badanes editor of NorthPotomac/Darnestown Patch at Bageltowne in the Traville Gateway center in Rockville. I am amazed at the speed at which North Potomac Patch updates local news and for a commmunity of about 20k residents (as the last census said) Patch is a great place to look at local news.
Jill also interviewed me for her new video series Meet-your neighbor Interview which you can find here aol.it/dHsZ8a
These nine patches will be the centers for my final sister's choice blocks. Seeing them together likes this makes me wonder if a scrappy nine patch quilt may be in my future.

The little tiny patch is from this lovely cotton I bought in a thrift store for a dollar, years ago. I made Phoenix a little summer outfit from it and still have a bit here or there.
One of 3 quilts I just started. My quilt guild, LIQS, had Christmas in July workshops last Monday. I decided to take the disappearing 4 patch class and use it as an excuse to make a new Christmas quilt. I love how the blocks look and can't wait to get it finished!
A very big bag. The bottom fabric is propably Ploeg-fabric.
It feels and looks like it anyway. The drops-fabric I printed myself. Sold.
8. The seam on the right has a little wrinkle but will work just fine. It sorta popped down when we polished it but pops back too.

Task Force Marauder, which is aligned under the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade for deployment, is composed of Soldiers from the South Carolina National Guard, Pennsylvania National Guard, Illinois National Guard, and Iowa National Guard and provides aviation capabilities with AH-64 Apaches, UH-60 Black Hawks, and CH-47 Chinooks. Pictures from our usual visit to the pumpkin patch around this time every year. We always have a good time. This year was no exception.
The Combat patch for United States Forces - Iraq
Soldiers who have been attached to United States Forces-Iraq wear the history, security and prosperity of a nation on their uniform.
According to the Institute of Heraldry, the shoulder sleeve insignia of USF-I has been worn to represent service of combat and contingency operations in Iraq since 2005. The shield patch is a symbol of the many ideals that has ushered in a new dawn for Iraq.
The patch contains four distinctive symbols:
The Star
"The star represents a vision of unity for the seven peoples of Iraq (Sunni,Shia, Kurd, Turkoman, Assyrian, Yazidi, Armenian) leading to a more secure, prosperous and free future for Iraqis."
The Crossed Scimitars
"The crossed scimitars of the insignia recall the partnership between Multinational Forces and Iraqi Security Forces essential to bringing a democratic way of life to Iraq.
The Palm Fronds
"The palm fronds symbolize peace and prosperity for a new nation."
The Mesopotamian Human-Headed Bull
"The colossal statue of the Mesopotamian human-headed winged bull recalls the rich heritage of Iraq and underscores strength and protection for the people of Iraq."
On a black shield, the star shines above the crossed scimitars. The palm fronds wrap the canvas as a base and the Mesopotamian human-headed bull is the center-piece.
Soldiers who have served in direct support of USF-Iraq are authorized the tactically colored shoulder insignia on the Army Combat Uniform and the full color insignia when wearing the Army Service Uniform.
