Just received my order of Black Rock Ranger widow patches from the vendor. Dude, these are PVC patches.

What an interesting way to fix a wall! But I'm glad that it is so patchy because that creates a very interesting random pattern. It makes the wall alive. This shows that randomness beats the uniformity anytime :)
You may have seen the "Secret Squirrel" patch around. There's even one clearly visible in the movie Zero Dark Thirty. You can get them, in many colors and materials from Milspec Monkey.
But I designed them. And for a few years, bought hundreds at a time, took orders from locals and obscure military/government/police forums (the US Secret Service were particular fans) and mailed them out all over the world. Eventually, I got tired of this, so gave it to Money Boy to deal with instead.
Note, due to the timeline, if it was indeed worn by someone in Neptune Spear, it looked like the above and not the new MSM ones. If this happened, I personally sold it to the actual guy who wore it. This is entirely plausible.
This year, we didn't get around to going to the pumpkin patch until the day before Halloween. Normally we're there at least a week before.
Usually I don't get home until 8pm or so, and the kids are being put to bed by then. But since the day before Halloween is the last day the pumpkin patch is open, I left work a little earlier than usual so I could get home in time to take them.
Had a good time. They got to go on some rides as well as a few of the jumbo slides. And of course I got to get a few pictures in. I swear I must have been the only one taking pictures there without flash. Everyone there shoots with flash. Makes for much better pictures to shoot without it. I'm pretty sure this shot would have looked horrible if I took it with a flash.

I made a ton of fabric patches for jackets or bags. White cotton stretched then painted with acrylic and fabric medium, silkscreen inks. Then I sewed around them with zig zag stitching and added embroidery thread.

Patches is a sweet little calico Manx who has been at the refuge since 2008. She is incontinent due to a birth defect, and she requires daily hygiene cleanings. Because of her special needs, her chances of adoption are considerably lower than our other cats and she will likely be a lifelong resident at the Goathouse Refuge.
She loves people and getting attention. Every night at dinnertime, Patches knows it's time to get in the cage with her name on it! Some of our cats are caged at night if they require a special diet, which Patches does. We can also monitor her litterbox this way. In the morning, she is happy to come out and spend the day lounging on the futon or exploring the outside area, although she never goes far! She's a gentle little homebody cat.

well....unfortunately, this patched step was not patched when i was a freshman in college,
and even more unfortunately, it lead to my first broken bone.
september 13, 2001. 3 weeks into school i broke my ankle in this exact spot. i wasn't seeking it out in my visit to lawrence, but it happens to be the front steps to the school of architecture, which i did visit.
it was very traumatic at the time.
I must say though, i think having to learn how to navigate with crutches made me a better architect....when it comes to ADA.
and I can't make this trip without saying a note about this girl:
