Glencoe, Scotland

When you go through Glencoe for the first time, the atmosphere becomes suddenly very particular and heavy of History! The vast landscapes are breathtaking whatever the light or weather conditions. I would definitely recommend that place as a stop over if you are road trippin' in Scotland. This is where happened the massacre of Glencoe in 1692, in which 38 members of the Clan MacDonald of Glencoe were killed by forces acting on behalf of the government of King William III following the Glorious Revolution.

Signal replacement on the former Montana Rail Link main line has been at a rapid pace in 2024, quickly moving to the far west end of the railroad on BNSF’s MRL Fourth Subdivision. The westbound searchlight signals protecting the west siding switch at Noxon will soon fall too, seen here with a westbound BNSF coal train passing the endangered searchlights on July 5, 2024.

The former Milwaukee Road's Latta Sub was a very interesting piece of railroad.

CS5 can't parse 7D2 RAW files so used DPP4, straight to PS, slight rebalance with a quick excursion to Topaz De Noise as shot was in grey/low light. Its sharpen routines don't harden edges as does the Adobe code.

Thanks my friend for your support.

Have a nice week :))

On a day which started with thick fog but which gradually improved (though some residual haze is evident in this shot), Standard 4 tank no. 80080 crosses the embankment at Burrs with the 14.15 Heywood to Rawtenstall service on the 1st November 2015.

Excerpt from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_Harbour:

Victoria Harbour is a natural landform harbour in Hong Kong separating Hong Kong Island in the south from the Kowloon Peninsula to the north. The harbour's deep, sheltered waters and strategic location on South China Sea were instrumental in Hong Kong's establishment as a British colony in 1841 and its subsequent development as a trading centre.

Throughout its history, the harbour has seen numerous reclamation projects undertaken on both shores, many of which have caused controversy in recent years. Environmental concerns have been expressed about the effects of these expansions, in terms of water quality and loss of natural habitat. It has also been proposed that benefits of land reclamation may be less than the effects of decreased harbour width, affecting the number of vessels passing through the harbour. Nonetheless Victoria Harbour still retains its founding role as a port for thousands of international vessels each year.

The harbour is a major tourist attraction of Hong Kong. Lying in the middle of the territory's dense urban region, the harbour is the site of annual fireworks displays and its promenades are used as gathering places for residents and also tourists.

After having dealt with a stopped X308 that blocked the last switch I needed to test and the entire town of Durand for 6 hours, the parade of waiting trains started to flow, which meant I had to wait more. To pass the time, I decided to get high... above the tracks and shoot CN A451. Clipping along the train makes the turn around the Chicago wye off of the Holly Sub and on to the Flint Sub. While I had to wait for a few more trains, this certainly made the last few more tolerable.

CP H57, nickle loads from Levack, races past the Onaping Falls at right with CP 6259 and CP 5920. The Levack turn is really unique, it's the only nickle ore train in all of Canada!

Currie Street - the passing parade by the pentacostal church is always enterntaining

It seems that I'm drawn to places where cool and warm tones meet or mingle.

A ship passing the southern tip of Vancouver Island in heavy weather.

I've been ill for 7 weeks now, but I've finally picked up my camera again and created something. I'm hugely better than I was, but still needing lots of pills every day, which make me very sleepy. Sadly, I seem to have missed the whole summer. :(

One of the activities which has helped me pass the time is creating wax seals - a modern version of the seals that were used to authenticate important documents in the Middle Ages. They're much prettier now. The lovely thing about it is that when things go wrong, as they do, you can just cut them up, melt them and start again. :)

Thank you to everyone who wrote kind, supportive, comments on my last upload and special thanks to those who sent me personal messages. They really cheered me up and I'm very grateful.

I hope I'll be back on Flickr properly very soon.

The 0700 has just finished grabbing some coil cars at Stelco and are passing MANA on their way back to the N&NW spur.

Taken in Pilanesberg Game Reserve, South Africa.

A capture made yesterday, at midday, when I almost never make photos. But then there are exceptions to the rules, and always should be.

I shot this one out of my bedroom window, which is why I keep them as clean as possible. In doing so, you hardly notice the glass.

The location is about 7 miles southeast of Stevensville, Montana.

The spring rains have made a beautiful natural garden out of the backyard grasses. Grand, that some places can remain untouched, and wild.
