When a subject is oft-photographed my tendency is to want to come at it from a different perspective. So while everyone else stood at the centre of this installation at Vivid Sydney capturing the parallax effect that gives the installation it's name I stood on the outside.
The aim for me was to give voice to the light and shadow that the installation was throwing on the roof from which it was hanging as well as the shape, which is inspired by the form of stalactites, of the installation itself.
More information on this installation is available at tinyurl.com/yb7h2rdz
I updated the presets to the latest binaries with the Water Parallax.
You need mods like WATER or Pure Waters with compatible textures.
Oh I also activated the SSS, I balanced it on my textures so I can't guarantee the result on other textures..
I also decided to rebalance the Particles, I preferred to balance the Fog instead of other particles effects because the swamp looked a bit off with the new updates.

P.S I'm using WATER+Pure Waters, I combined them.
The parallax effect is creating the illusion of depth with flat, two-dimensional objects by moving different background and foreground elements at varying speeds. Foreground objects move fastest, mid-ground slower, and the far-off background elements the slowest.
The single frame photograph was captured overlooking the stunning San Sebastián (Basque: Donostia) located in north of Spain. The various planes of the photograph were excised and situated onto multiple planes vertically with a 3d camera pointed straight down at them in Adobe After Effects. Motion graphics were then added to create illusion of flyover, rotation, and varying depth of field.

The sun reflecting off the windshields of two cars, up through a balcony railing, and through a door, to cast dual shadows onto a ceiling. The cars are parked about four feet apart, by chance, at precisely the correct angles*. One windshield was relatively flat (Sun's reflection behind photographer's left) and the other more curved (Sun's reflection behind photographer's right).
The varied parallax caused by the different angles of sunlight from the two windshields (one of the cars parked at a slightly crooked angle, and the different distances to the railing, doorway and photographer create a surprising image.
*Out of literally thousands of times over several years, this is the only time I have seen double shadows.

In the viewfinder window of the scale cameras, there is a parallax correction frame. I constantly forget to take it into account. :)
