This pair of Stilts comprises the adult (probably male based on the blackish back) on the right and his new youngster. It takes the kids considerable time before they can sport the intense reddish colors on their legs... they transition from tan to red. The dense reed cover in the background is conducive to the survival of the new chicks... this pond supports an annual crop of this specie.
