Mercedes Notton Hill and Julija Ki riding Peter and Jack. These two ladies look happy, probably due to teaming up at the end of the pairs after losing their original partners quite early in their official rounds.

I had no Valentines story to tell but then as I was doing the Great Backyard bird count today these two canada geese showed up at a feeder in my backyard. Nothing unusual about that except neither of these birds can fly, the closer bird has a birth defect so it's wing tips pointed upward, time and freezing weather has eliminated the feathers, the second bird has a broken wings I don't know how it happened, as a result they must walk everywhere they go. The wonderful thing is that this is the 3rd year they have been together, 3 years of surviving the Canadian winters and predators and all the things that are a threat when they are on the ground.
I have no idea how they found each other or how they have stayed together for this long. I was glad to see them and today it was more special.
