I was unhappy being unable to reproduce one face several times realizing I was holding my breath, tight, trying to hard, overworking lines so I started to simply doodle... starting with the floral face in center, by the end the lower left face was a lot freer and the one on top of her was sketchy with pen no less...

My first acrylic painting. Trying my hand at this medium and I have mixed feelings about this painting.

It took me 4 days to reach this point and I could have certainly continued with it but I felt since I didn't have a plan of what I wanted to paint at the start of this painting it could have gone one until I really overworked it (it still does feel overworked at this point but I could have really mucked it).

I decided to buy a palette knife today and you could see the results of my enthusiasm with this tool . Entirely inappropriate but, like I said it's an experiment in acrylics.

Fast sketch of greenhand Yara at work, poop deck.

On the left you can see a drawing which became heavily overworked because I was having such an interesting conversation with Redmond. We were talking about Darwin's book The Expression of The Emotions In man and Animals which is of particular interest to a narrative artist like me. On the right is another scene drawn while being filmed. This time I was sitting on the poop deck and the ghostly figure in the middle is Yara, who was working too quickly for me to capture her in any detail.

Our team came from all over the country to bring the message of the unemployed, underemployed, overworked, and underpaid to the annual Federal Reserve meeting in Jackson Hole. This is the first time anyone has ever protested at a Jackson Hole Fed meeting in it’s entire history. We came on behalf of 70 organizations representing millions of workers to make our voices heard. (Also pictured Derek Laney, organizer for Missourians Organizing for Reform and Empowerment on back left; Ady Barkan, senior attorney for the Center for Popular Democracy, back right; Becky Dernbach, organizer for Minnesota Neighborhoods Organizing for Change; and Shawn Sebastian, legal fellow for the Center for Popular Democracy, kneeling).

Herzl died in Vienna in 1904, of pneumonia and a weak heart overworked by his incessant efforts on behalf of Zionism. By then the movement had found its place on the world political map. In 1949, Herzl's remains were brought to Israel and reinterred on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.

Herzl's books Der Judenstaat (“The Jewish State”) and Altneuland (“Old New Land”), his plays and articles have been published frequently and translated into many languages. His name has been commemorated in the Herzl Forests at Ben Shemen and Hulda, the world's first Hebrew gymnasium — “Herzlia” — which was established in Tel Aviv, the town of Herzliya in the Sharon and neighborhoods and streets in many Israeli towns and cities.

Herzl coined the phrase “If you will, it is no fairytale,” which became the motto of the Zionist movement. Although at the time no one could have imagined it, Zionism led, only fifty years later, to the establishment of the independent State of Israel.

Walker - an Homage to the unpaid and overworked Artisans who have refined our Sweet tastes from the cane fields to the Kitchens of the New World on the Occasion of the demolition of the Domino Sugar Refining Plant. Vivien Lambelet's success as an actress, singer and composer is not surprising - she is the daughter of Napoleon Lambelet, the well-known Greek composer. She intended to be a pianist, but overworked in her studies in Brussels and had to choose another career. She turned to the stage and appeared in Hassan at His Majesty's, and subsequently in The Royal Visitor. Her first broadcast was in 1923 when she sang songs of her own composition in the Children's Hour. In 1934 she understudied Yvonne Printemps in Noel Coward's Conversation Piece here and in America. Spanish Intermezzo, an orchestral work of hers, was included by Sir Dan Godfrey in the first concert in England of works by British women composers.

My friends little 3 year old boy spent the day playing with his lego Mack truck – so I decided to draw it. First attempt I totally ruined it with murky watercolour shadows, 2nd version I gave to my friends and then as I intended to remove my first attempt from sight did a 3rd version. I then tried to recover my first version with some watercolour pencilwork over the top... Overworked but here it is.

Nick also did 2 versions for me....

Admittedly not my only cinnamon roll of the day

not my best effort.......the dough is quite tough and i might have overworked it, as well as the one cup of brown sugar tasting too sweet!

recipe

1 cup warm milk

1/3 cup melted butter

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 eggs

4 cups flour

1 t salt

2 1/4 t yeast

I melt the butter in the milk while it warms then add it to 1/2 the flour and sugar in a bowl, then mix in the eggs and salt, then the yeast and remaining flour, usually comes together and seems too wet, but i only add enough flour to get it out of the bowl and knead it about 5 minutes on a floured towel, i wipe the bowl with the butter wrapper and then form the dough into a ball and coat it in the bowl and let it rest in a warm space about 2 hours

then punch it down and roll it out into about 12" x 20" rectangle

coat it with

1/3 cup butter

1 cup brown sugar

2 t cinnamon

1/3 cup flour (helps keep filling in place)

then roll the rectangle into a normal roll or for hearts each side to the center, and slice into 8-15 rolls, depends on how thick you like them I tend to like em thin

i wipe butter wrappers on a baking pan to coat and then sprinkle the with whatever cinnamon/sugar flour fell out during cutting, i place the rolls with room to swell while they bake and before putting into a 375 degree oven I pour

1/4 cup whipping cream in the spaces of the rolls and i brush the tops with egg

i bake for about 20 minutes rotating pan halfway through, sometimes I ice , sometimes not

icing recipe

1/4 cup cream cheese

2 cups powdered sugar

1 t vanilla extract

1 t salt

1/2 cup butter

whip the icing up and ice rolls when they are warm and let it drip into the crevices

January 19, 2011-- Classes started yesterday. I'm already so overworked. A webcam shot at 11:57 will have to do.

But on the plus side, I'm in a show! I just got cast! It's called "The Gnadiges Fraulein", and I play The Gnadiges Fraulein!!! I'm so excited. :)

I seem to live in my office these days and have become lady no fun. But it will all be worthwhile when my kits are FINISHED and in the hands of crafty ladies worldwide

I've actually been shooting a lot of film this week, when I can actually be bothered to pick the camera up.............on account of being overworked and underpaid (and stressed out) by the NHS. I thought I ought bung a digi pic up for a little variation.

I was very impressed with Jonron239 and his Covent garden girl in scarf..................sadly the hot babes have eluded me recently, or so it seems and this is the best I can do in the scarf stakes

Research has demonstrated positive correlations between gratitude and wellness. Yet, the hospital—a place where we come to try to get well—can sometimes be a difficult place to feel grateful. This may ring true whether you are a patient in pain, a concerned family member or friend, a caretaker, or a hospital staff member feeling tired and overworked. But, just as we can find beauty in a rainy day, we can find something for which we can be grateful, even in the most difficult times. This sense of gratitude, in turn, may contribute to our sense of happiness and well-being. In the “Gratitude Showers Challenge,” we invited the entire hospital community—patients, family, friends, volunteers, and hospital staff—to share short messages of gratitude that were vinyl cut and placed on clear umbrellas. There is also a sound component to these umbrellas—solar powered raindrop circuits, built by students during a 2020 Winter Term in sonic arts. These are essentially metronome circuits powered by small solar cells that are being affixed to the umbrellas. Once completed the umbrellas will become part of an installation suspended in a small courtyard adjacent to the hospital cafeteria.

This Youlpa Dolls Zenji belongs to a dear friend of mine, who got a face up and some eyes from me. My friend asked me to make him look overworked and tired, as he's a lawyer. At first I'd made him too perfect, but then I added eye circles and he became perfect to them. All's well that ends well, right?

This fortune is meant to be depicted as a friend overworking herself, and as a result, she missed her friend's birthday party. Therefore, the more you work, the less you have (times with friends and family).

My first crack at a pate sucree. It's usually used for tarts rather than pies - it's crumbly, not flaky. You can't overwork the dough, so after rolling out the bottom crust, i used the scraps to make crusty hearts on top. I made it for my lover when he came over for dinner. :)

The crust is very tasty and unmolds perfectly. I used sucanat instead of white sugar, and I think it'd take well to whole wheat, at least half. I can't wait to try it with a meyer lemon custard.

Saint Francis of Assisi, The Patron Saint of All Animals

PRAYER FOR THE ANIMALS

Hear our humble prayer, O God,

for our friends the animals,

especially for animals who are suffering;

for animals that are overworked,

underfed and cruelly treated;

for all wistful creatures in captivity

that beat their wings against bars;

for any that are hunted or lost or deserted

or frightened or hungry;

for all that must be put death.

We entreat for them all Thy mercy and pity,

and for those who deal with them

we ask a heart of compassion

and gentle hands and kindly words.

Make us, ourselves, to be true friends to animals,

and so to share the blessings of the merciful.

North of the city of Chiang Mai, Thailand is the Elephant Nature Park, a wonderful place dedicated to protecting and healing elephants that have been abused, overworked or neglected. It provides a place where elephants can live peacefully and in a more natural setting than in zoos, cities or logging farms. When you visit the park you get to feed these wonderful animals, learn about them and, later in the day, you get to wash them in a nearby stream. This elephant was on his way to the stream when I shot the photo with my great little Canon digital Elph SD 700.

Mom did warn me about jobs like these.

Finally got around to redoing my little Fairyland LTF Dark Elf Soo's face up. She is in the fairyland tan skin, though the color isn't quite right in a few pictures. That's what I get for using artificial light on one side and daylight on the other! I might retake these later.

It took me about 5 tries to get the eyelashes to a point where I liked them and didn't overwork them anymore. I kept having to wipe them away and do them over and over again. At least I use watercolor so it's an easy clean up.

KAROSHI

Monday 1 July and Tuesday 2 July 8pm £7.

Kings Arms Studio 1, 11 Bloom Street Salford M3 6AN.

'Karoshi' is Japanese for death by overwork. Is work killing you? Does your boss hate you? You are not alone. In her hit Edinburgh show, 'Karoshi', comedian (and tired worker) Mel Byron shows the many different ways in which work is killing us. Long hours; managers from hell; dysfunctional colleagues - they are all to blame. Yes, it's not you, it's them. In the time it takes you to eat lunch and update your CV (don't let the boss catch you), Mel shows, with anecdotes and fascinating facts, why this is happening and what we can do about it.
