Charlie is his name and he is one of the feral horses of the Outer Banks Islands in North Carolina. The horses are of Spanish descent and arrive in the USA on ships which either sunk or had to be repaired, and as a result the animals on board swam to the shores of the Outer Banks. The horses here are direct descendants of the herds in Spain and have been genetically tested. Their DNA matches only tow other herds. A web search on the "Banker ponies" will yield more information.
