It was dry and snowless, but very cold and windy, so I dragged my reluctant urbex partner out (he has a car and some locations require that) and we made the return journey to Whittingham. When we were there last time we got around the main hospital complex and that included the wards, socialisation rooms, the patients’ rooms/cells, theatre, chapel and shop. There were several outbuildings visible from where we were though, plus one large building, a church and a water tower, all of which I was determined to get back to see. I also wanted to find evidence of the railway and station that I knew to have been part of the asylum. We parked at the same spot, just outside the complex and carefully made our way in, creeping through bushes past the security hut. The main block was to the right but this time we veered to the left and reached the small church first.
