At Repondek Railroad Company's Yankeetown dock facility, they still operate two of the three Yankeetown Dock Co. SD38-2s.

Built in November of 1972 to replace a small fleet of aging Fairbanks-Morse locomotives hauling coal trains on a built-for- purpose, 20-mile line in Southwestern Indiana, they have never strayed. Both 20 and 21 are used mostly for moving cars around the yard or dumper.

Even in 2017, when this was taken, RRC 21 still wears it's YDC paint from the late 80's. Looking closely, the picture shown by the employee is of YDC 1976 (YDC 21) wearing a bicentennial livery in 1976. Both it and 20 (a corner of which can be seen) have each worn at least three paint schemes just for Yankeetown Dock alone.

I have an affinity for coal mine locomotives and have collected slides and researched the lineage of many that once operated in the Midwest. I even bought a pair of the Scale Trains SD38-2s they had painted for Yankeetown Dock Co.

A1x Class locomotive no.32678 seen here with a rake of vintage coaches, waiting at Tenterden railway station.

32678 is an A1x 'Terrier' Class 0-6-0 standard gauge steam locomotive. Built by the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway, it first entered service on the 23rd July 1880.

Between then and 1923 and the formation of the Southern Railway, the loco had already run almost a million miles!

Now owned by the Terrier Trust, the loco operates on the Kent & East Sussex Railway but is currently undergoing restoration.

The following info is adapted from the article "Keeping Olmstead Alive: The Biltmore Estate" at landscapeonline.com/research/article.php/5133

The four-mile-square Bass Pond is on the historic grounds near Biltmore House. The Pond has the original flume designed and installed by Fredericik Law Olmsted in 1894 to keep the pond water clear.

The recently restored flume uses gravity feed, no pumps. After heavy rains or when the water is high and muddy, the manually operated release valve is opened and the muddy water is carried through the bottom spillway and pipe into Four Mile Creek, and from there, into the French Broad River. A huge underground pipe made of brick runs under the Pond, which allows one of the valves to be shut off, releasing water to the bottom of the spillway. The recent restoration of the flume system under Bass Pond was headed up by Bill Cecil Jr., the great grandson of George Vanderbilt. Bill Cecil Jr., is the CEO of the Biltmore Estate, a quiet, intelligently run family organization.

The oldest operating lighthouse in the world, the Tower of Hercules was built by the Romans in the 1st century AD. An additional skin of blockwork was added in 1791 along with a upper storey with a lantern room. The lighthouse is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Located north of Center City, the Richmond Power Generating Station (1924-25) was built and operated by the Philadelphia Electrical Company (PECO). Designed by Chief PECO engineer W.C.L Eglin and architect John Torrey Windrim, it has a Turbine Hall 125 feet high featuring an arched ceiling as the choice of Beaux-Arts Neoclassical designed deliberately chosen by PECO.

"It looks like the temple for steampunk." commented by Aaron Wunsch, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania.

With two of its four turbo-generator units installed and twelve of its 24 planned boilers put into place, the station was generating 100,000 kilowatts of electricity a year.

In 1935, a third unit rated at 165 MW (by Westinghouse) was installed; it was powered by two pulverized coal-fired boilers that gave it an effective rating of 135 MW.

In 1951, a fourth unit, rated at 185 MW was added; it ran at a steam pressure of 1200 psi (as opposed to 400 psi). Also, it was hydrogen-cooled instead of air-cooled like the other units.

Over time, technology, the environment, and politics changed, and this coal-fed behemoth was converted to gas with Philadelphia’s clean-air act in the 1970s. The station was ultimately retired in 1985, during a period when Philadelphia’s population, industry, and employment were at all-time lows.

Since this time, the historic buildings have been closed, though accessed occasionally as sets for movies like “Transformers 2” and “Twelve Monkeys” (how that psychotherapy was originated).

It's been a weird retrospective week - As most people know I'm kinda known for not just frogs, but animal mechs in general.

And sometimes it's like It feels like I'm making these stories up... but I'm not...

But on Wednesday - Blair pointed pointed out these cool Frog based Gundam suits... and the SAME day, Same day I wrote the Visor + LEGO Dad article, I get an awesome package from random gift package from Adam, which contained: Frogs and Brickforge Visors.

... I'm not joking. So I started working on this pair, trying to find something that resembled the gundam.

I started doing stickering last night - and 1ssac posted HIS pink frog build and tagged me on IG ... and this morning Someone ELSE pointed out the gundam sets....

... Yeah this is meant to be. :)

Complications with motive power shortages at Southern Shorthaul Railroad and a delayed delivery of GT46ACe Manildra owned locomotives has seen many Aurizon locomotives off hired to operate Manildra Group trains to make up the shortfall. In the case of ACC6031 & 30, the locomotives have just made the trip from Kalgoorlie to NSW and were put to work within a couple of days.
