Taking macro photos of roses I found this spider that in fact is about 3mm long,I never saw it until the photo was on the computer.
I should have tightened the aperture for this shot (depth-of-field and all that jazz). At Presqu'ile provincial park.
Stepping into those guard boxes is not allowed, no matter how great the tourist snapshot would be...

I had the amazing good fortune to be present for a blessed event on my mom's 85th birthday--the birth of a alpaca! I had made arrangements ahead of time to visit Alpacalypse Farm

in Millbrook, New York, USA, after locating them on the Internet. I knew that one of their alpacas was due to give birth soon, but what a happy coincidence! She (Alpacalypse Aurora (nickname Rosie) went into labor at about 11 am! When I arrived at 1:15 pm, she was progressing nicely, although, as a first-time mom, she seemed a bit confused. The babies' legs were visible. There was an alpaca midwife there to help (or, at least, encourage)--an older female, who had had several births herself. By around 1:30 pm, Rosie gave birth to a beautiful, dark black baby girl--the same color as her dad! I stayed, snapping pictures, till about 2:15 pm. The baby, Alpacalypse Liza Jane (Liza) wasn't strong or coordinated enough at that point to stand or nurse, but she made several tries, one of which is shown in this photo. This is the "after" picture! I got an email from Peggy, the herd manager, today & she says that Liza is running around & doing just fine! What a thrill! Stay tuned for more! Seen on May 15, 2010.

It's not like I did this for the first time: left batteries in a device, left it for a while (a year or more), after which the batteries started leaking, and destroy stuff. I highlighted the areas with leaked battery liquid...
So this is a bicycle LED light which luckily was not completely ruined. But the button doesn't work anymore, which used to select between: Off, On continuously, and On Flashing... So now it's always on...

4 June 2011: Oops!
Moral - don't run the speaker wire under the expensive (and apparently very hot) server motherboard. the smoke trail is where the wire was. hopefully the motherboard is ok (as well as the 8 cores of Xeon goodness plugged into it). One thing after another with this computer...
I messed up on this little (ok, not so little) guy's trunk, so he's going in the shop as-is as an "oops!" listing! Still super cute and cuddly :)

This sign has been upside down for years. I pointed it out to them the first time I saw it, I guess they don't care enough to fix it. Why, then, do I give them my business?

You know it's a great wedding when the bride starts breaking things! One of the glass tubes that makes up this ceiling light fixture broke when Myriam flung the bouquet.
So we're making maps in cartography class, and I somehow caused this misprint. It's pretty cool looking, though.
Momo fell out of a tree in the most artful, Alice-esque way possible.
Y'know, aside from the panty shot.
