My cup finally got here and I had my coffee in it this morning. I read up on the 24-70 Lens. I already have a 24-85 mm lens which is close.

I love these Art Deco styled cameras, from a different era. The green one on top, is called the Falcon Jr., and was manufactured byUtility Mfg. Co. of New York. As you can see, it's a bellows camera, that fits neatly in your pocket. The lower camera is called the Bullet, and was made by Kodak. The part sticking out the front, with the lens in it, actually screws in and out. Very cool. These are two of my favourite cameras in my humble collection. And, I gotta tell ya, I love the Bakelite construction of these little puppies. For reference, they are about the size of an average point and shoot digital camera of today.

Well, I had a title for this-same as the file I have it in-but, it was a bit of a double entendre, and in today's environment, I don't wish to be misunderstood. IYKWIM So, just enjoy the bluishness. I've got a yellowish, and a steelish, and a rusticish shot in the works too.

We tend to celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied ad multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

Ok, not sure if it's 'are' or 'am'. Any grammarians out there? 😜😜 By the way, the green book is titled "Record of Pennsylvania Volunteers in the Spanish-American War, 1898", printed in 1901. Apparently, at some point, it belonged to my great-aunt Dorothy, my grandfather Herb's older sister. Don't know why she would own it. It doesn't seem to have any of our ancestors listed.

For a few years, Pepsi Canada had great summer contests where one could win lots of cool stuff. (In the first contest they "offered" a Harrier jet for millions of points. Turns out the offer wasn't real. Who could've seen that coming. lol Not the guy who thought he got it. lol) I personally won all kinds of things, from a Weber BBQ, to sunglasses, hacky sacs, gym bags, shirts, hats, dogtags, and more.Sadly, it seems the good contests are a thing of the past. Last year was just something to do with music. MEH. I do plan a bunch more Pepsi shots when the weather warms up. The Pepsi Max glasses were given to me by a student last year. And, yes, I did win two, yeah two, pairs of sunglasses the first year. lol Never worn them.

The Flickr Lounge-Photographer's Choice
Decided to get a White Poinsettia for the table this year. It's my favourite colour.
My grandfather was a complex man, who revealed very little of himself to me, till it was almost too late. Sometimes big hearted, sometimes grasping, and self-serving, but, then, I guess we can all be like that sometimes. These clubs are my grandfather's. They date from some time before WWII, when he and my Gram, and my dad, lived in Milwaukee, where they had moved for work. I have a newspaper clipping from the time, mentioning a tournament he played in. He was not a professional, by any means. lol I never saw him play. Life caught up to him, in the form of being one of 9 siblings orphaned in 1932. The youngest was a baby, the oldest, married, as was my grandfather. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943, though because of his age, and family situation, he could have avoided service. While serving on board a ship in Australia, he was crushed (to death, they thought at the time), and had his heart moved over to the right side of his chest. Anyhow, a few years after he passed away, my Gram gave me a lot of his stuff, as I was the only grandson. I've kept these clubs since. They are actually in playable shape. In fact, I played the best round of my life using them. lolA funky coincidence, I'm sure. The grips are a beautiful leather, and the leather bag is a thing of beauty. More to come.
I heard that about 500 years ago, "kompeito" was very precious and the generals in Japan in old days could buy a mountain with 2 or 3 "Kompeito" pieces.
Picked this up at the little grocery store in Trumansburg. I always like to have fresh flowers on the table, more so in Winter when there aren't any outside.
