Plaubel Makina 67 / Kodak Portra 400VC / Epson V750 / 2021

Amidst, company, family, my son's family trying to buy their first house, yada, yada, yada, I took some more back yard photos today. After shooting a whole buncha black eyed Susans, I decided to throw this cone flower in the middle of the mix. I put the vase on an old, weathered bistro table, that has been on our front porch, back porch, picanics, and the new deck. Now, the table is in the back yard, off the deck. I stood on the steps of our new deck, and shot straight down on this bicolour buffet.I think the echinacea flower should have been a bit smaller. lol It's like the elephant in the floral room.

ODC Our Daily Challenge: on the table

A little country song, for your Sunday afternoon smile.

Chocolate Smiles, And Peanut Butter Laughter

I love chocolate peanut butter

Maybe even more than my mother

I tell you this without an ounce of guile

Chocolate peanut butter makes me smile

Chocolate peanut butter makes me smile

It was just the other day I was moping sad

It might a been the worst day I ever had

I was feeling all alone and forgotten in a funk

My friends were disappearing like they smelt a dead skunk

When a thought came to me in the grocery store

So I sat on down right where I was to wait for more

Minding my own business, mumbling to myself

I leaned on back, ‘gainst the nearest shelf

Oh, I love chocolate peanut butter

Maybe even more than my mother

I tell you this without an ounce of guile

Chocolate peanut butter makes me smile

Chocolate peanut butter makes me smile

It happened then when I looked up

That I seen that temptatious Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup

My troubles blowed away like dandruff in a storm

And my heart swelled up with a brand new aplomb

You see, somehow I’d landed right in the candy aisle

So I reached on up for that magneticious chocolate smile

I didn’t have a penny so I grabbed the cups and ran

Out the door with that chocolate smile firmly in my hand

Oh, Oh, Oh,I love chocolate peanut butter

Maybe even more than my mother

I tell you this without an ounce of guile

Chocolate peanut butter makes me smile

Chocolate peanut butter makes me smile

I started running down the street, I didn’t stop

When I was confronted by a chocolate cop

I flew right by him, as he flashed his badge

Chocolate peanut butter was my energy beverage

When I smiled at him, he knew I was the chocolate thief

There was chocolate peanut butter all over my teeth

Now here’s a little lesson you can consider worthwhile

If you’re stealing chocolate peanut butter, ‘member not to smile.

Yeah, ya know, I love chocolate peanut butter

Maybe even more than my mother

I tell you this without an ounce of guile

Chocolate peanut butter makes me smile

Chocolate peanut butter makes me smile

Same shot, finished two more ways, including cropping. I like them both, and, I don't like either. I know, I know, those two ideas would seem mutually exclusive. Do you see why I have such a hard time trying to figure out who, or what I am? So many contradictions in one head. I don't get it. Anyhow, that's the last of this particular shot. More to come for Christmas of 2017.

Ok, not sure if it's 'are' or 'am'. Any grammarians out there? 😜😜 By the way, the green book is titled "Record of Pennsylvania Volunteers in the Spanish-American War, 1898", printed in 1901. Apparently, at some point, it belonged to my great-aunt Dorothy, my grandfather Herb's older sister. Don't know why she would own it. It doesn't seem to have any of our ancestors listed.

I picked this old tool box up in a local antique shop. Not sure if the holes drilled into the visible piece were for screwdrivers, or not, but, that's how I'm using them. The gloves are a soft, tanned cowhide that I just love, as much for their great leather smell, as for anything. They are unlined, and unbelievably warm. They give great grip, and were a good buy from the local TSC store. When I was in high school, in Northern British Columbia, I had a pair of beautifully tanned moose hide gloves, with some beadwork on the back. They were from a Carrier Indian lady that my parents worked with, named Granny Joseph. She was well know for her craftsmanship. Those gloves were also unlined, and freakishly warm, and figure in one of my B.C. adventures, that included frostbite in my fingertips. Not because the gloves were cold. They were, as was I, way too warm, and sweat filled the gloves on our backwoods winter trek, and the gloves actually froze. lol I may tell the whole story some time. Sheesh, the stupid things we do when we are young. Oh, not sure if I've mentioned it, but, I started back to work last week. It will be 6 months, on the 25th on January, since my achilles surgery. It still hurts, but, I can manage. Swelling is still a problem, also, but, I'm hoping for a major change in the next couple weeks-for the better. Just in case you were interested.

Here's Japanese Soul Food, Onigiri and Umeboshi (pickled Ume).

About 12 years ago, my grandmother passed away.

After the funeral, my uncle (my mother's younger brother) who lived with her planted Ume (Japanese apricot ) tree in the garden. My grandmother lived the house almost all her life.

The years passed, the Ume tree grew up and the beautiful ume blossoms come out every year. After the blooming, my uncle harvests the fruit of Ume and my aunt (my uncle's wife) brings them to her mother and her mother makes Umeboshi (pickled ume)

with politeness .

This summer I visited my uncle and he gave a part of new Umeboshi to me.

They are very small but very good size for putting into Onigiri.

We enjoy eating Onigiri with Umeboshi, with thinking about my grandma.

It is a good sleep today! It was possible to rest -

However, it doesn't write a New Year's card.

Every morning, I check the condition of the Cosmos flowers and divide each of them into the best vases/pots.

I hope them to keep their lives as long as possible!

We tend to celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied ad multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.

We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

“A concise poem about our work as stated elow

A place without being

a thought without thinking

creatively, two dimensions

suspended animation

possibly a perfect imitation

of what was then to see.

A frozen memory in synthetic colour

or black and white instead,

fantasy dreams in magazines

become imbedded inside my head.

Artistic views

surrealistic hues,

a photographer’s instinctive eye:

for he does as he pleases

up to that point he releases,

then develops a visual high.

It's What's For... Lunch

I made this in my Aroma Rice Cooker. I love one-pot meals. You just add a little oil, pasta, water, your favourite sauce or butter and garlic powder. You can add meat and other things that you like too. I added a can of Lobster Bisque, and a can of Baby Clams to this one. I didn't use a tomato sauce because I'm sensitive to nightshades. So this was a better option. I find this such an easy way to prepare food. Just a little bowl for me, this is very filling.

For a few years, Pepsi Canada had great summer contests where one could win lots of cool stuff. (In the first contest they "offered" a Harrier jet for millions of points. Turns out the offer wasn't real. Who could've seen that coming. lol Not the guy who thought he got it. lol) I personally won all kinds of things, from a Weber BBQ, to sunglasses, hacky sacs, gym bags, shirts, hats, dogtags, and more.Sadly, it seems the good contests are a thing of the past. Last year was just something to do with music. MEH. I do plan a bunch more Pepsi shots when the weather warms up. The Pepsi Max glasses were given to me by a student last year. And, yes, I did win two, yeah two, pairs of sunglasses the first year. lol Never worn them.
