Actually I pulled the filter off the Infrared camera for this shot. It was much more red but I liked the starkness of the crooked tree and the glow across the meadow.
color me happy....
This old tree in Battersea Park, looks like it wants to explore the other side of the lake?
Its old gnarled branches reach out accros the surface of the water, as if to reach the other side?

The Obere Wöhrd is the western of two river islands in the Danube in the urban area of Regensburg. The western end is used to be called the Wehrloch. Until around 1500, the transport connection from the Obere Wöhrd to Regensburg's old town and also to Stadtamhof could only be made by boat. Even today, the Obere Wöhrd, classified as a water protection area, is a much-used recreation and excursion area. There are nearly 30 listed buildings on Oberer Wöhrd, including former summerhouses, fishermen's houses and skippers' houses, which are now used as guesthouses or residences. There are also two large beer gardens with views of Regensburg's old town.
Der Obere Wöhrd ist die westliche von zwei Flussinseln in der Donau im Stadtgebiet von Regensburg, deren westliches Ende man früher als das Wehrloch bezeichnete. Bis um 1500 konnte die Verkehrsverbindung vom Oberen Wöhrd zur Regensburger Altstadt und auch nach Stadtamhof nur per Boot erfolgen. These old cherry trees at the Tidal Basin are the symbol of maintaining the historical and cultural significance and promoting friendship. The trees, gifts from Japan to the United States in 1912, have attracted millions of visitors each year during the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
However, they may be removed soon from this iconic location due to the Park Service’s Tidal Basin seawall restoration plan. The project's site preparation at the Tidal Basin begins in late May 2024, which will remove 158 of the nearly 3,700 Japanese flowering cherry trees on the National Mall. The restoration plan is expected to be complete in 2027. Really wish these beautiful old cherry trees can stay.

This image records the first time I saw this particular Little Owl. With just her head visible, she spent ages catching the warmth of the sun. Here she's looking in my direction, both eyes open but not alarmed.
Another 35 minutes passed before she flew out to start hunting for food. A lovely sighting to end a great day of photography in Suffolk.

My third visit to the Little Owl nesting site this Spring.
As previously, the female was encouraged to start hunting by a visit from her mate, though no calls from him this time.
Yet again, she took her time to reach the edge of the entrance pipe. In this image, she was almost there and had started to raise her body up a little to survey the immediate surroundings.

A colleague from San Diego wanted to visit Adelaide Hills wineries. So we took off on a planned route to visit 5 wineries. Along the way we came on Nepenthe. It is a winery with this very view.
Nepenthe is situated at Jones Road, Balhannah, only 25 minutes scenic drive from the centre of Adelaide, just minutes out of Hahndorf. And yes we ended up eating German food at the Hahndorf Inn.
I'm pretty sure that this is already my favourite shot from 2024.
The drizzle and heavy fog created a film like grain and the snowless February offered unique colors.

A few years ago, the administration of the Bavarian Forest National Park decided to continue the cultivation of some Schachten with cattle. These meadows were cleared centuries ago as summer grazing areas for cattle in the forests in the Bavarian Forest. Later, this form of grazing became unprofitable and was abandoned. Since then, the Schachten, which are considered cultural monuments, have been in danger of becoming overgrown with forest again. Rotes Höhenvieh ("red upland cattle") was selected as the cattle breed.
Die Verwaltung des Nationalparks Bayerischer Wald hat sich vor einigen Jahren entschieden, einige Schachten wieder mit Rindern zu pflegen. Diese Wiesen wurden vor Jahrhunderten als Sommerweideflächen für Rinder in den Wäldern im Bayerischen Wald gerodet. Später wurde diese Beweidungsform unrentabel und aufgegeben. Seitdem drohen die Schachten, die heute als Kulturdenkmäler gelten, wieder mit Wald zuzuwachsen. Als Rinderrasse wurde das "Rote Höhenvieh" ausgewählt.

This is a beautiful 300 year old cherry tree that stands alone in the mountains of Gunma Prefecture Japan. It has a big trunk circumference of 6 meters and a branch width of 17 meters. It is near Katashina ski resort.
