First registered as a commercial establishment in 1835, Johnson Mill is believed to be the oldest business in Arkansas. Partially burned by Confederate troops following the nearby Battle of Pea Ridge in 1862, the mill was refurbished after the war and functioned as an operating mill well into the 20th century. In 1992, the mill reopened as a unique hotel facility, noted for its fascinating blend of historic and modern architecture. Also here is a historic home called the Johnson House, which was built in 1882. Both the house and mill listed, together, on the National Register of Historic Places.
This is the old mill found at the top of Walter's Falls in Chatsworth, Ontario. It is a spot to hike past on the Bruce Trail system as well.
A long exposure of the old mill, at Lower Slaughter, in the beautiful Cotswolds region.
Hope you enjoy it! 😉
The Danville Mill, also known under its historic name the Jaeger Rye Mill, is an old Rye Mill from 1854 located on the side of County Road TT, and just down the river from Astico Park, in nearby Danville, Wisconsin.
This timber-framed mill was constructed in 1854, harnessing power from the Crawfish River in order to grind rye and other grains for local farmers. The mill was purchased by a man named Franz in the 1880s. Sometime afterwards a sawmill built in 1843 was moved here and placed across the river, serving as a feed-storage area until its demolition in 1989. Franz taught the milling trade to his sons Edwin and Oscar. Edwin operated the mill into his 80's. Milling ceased here in 1967, but the retail operation continued until 1997, selling brewer grains and garver feed. Tom Mannlein, great-great-grandson of Franz purchased the mill from his grandfather in 1982. An Amish Carpenter was hired in July 2018 to install a new metal roof, to further secure the interior of the structure. The stone-foundations around the Mill have had to be repaired multiple times, including during the floods of 2008 in which one of the walls was completely undermined by the rushing currents.
Genevieve (Gigi) Marentette is a singer with wide repertoire, but sticking mostly closer to jazz. She had a long career in Asia and Europe, but came back to Toronto to establish herself at home. She has a killer voice, looks and fashion is her domain. Gigi is one of the founders of Kensington Jazz Festival (Since 2016) and can be found doing million things preparing the festival and even more, when the festival is happening. I saw her this month at great event at Old Mill Inn, where she prepared a special program of song of one of her mentors Don Francks. On the photo she is the one with black & red dress, Dione Taylor (with the hat) joined her from the audience on improptu duet.
Surprisingly, I seen her at Jazz Festival in Cuba in January, where she was featured performer (and only Canadian) in Bobby Carcasses showcase of his best fifty, or there about, musical friends. She is a true performer, not famous yet, but well known in Toronto musical community.

The historic Crystal Mill near the small town of Marble, Colorado. One of the most photographed historic sites in Colorado, Crystal Mill is a picturesque location especially in Autumn when the Fall leaves are in full color.

Crystal Mill was built in 1892 on the upper Crystal River to help power the local silver mines. It was closed in 1917 and is now on private property that has been preserved with help from the local Gunnison and Aspen historical societies. I was surprised at how remote this Mill was - it's accessible only in the snow free months by a 6 mile un-maintained, single lane, four-wheel-drive only, gravel/dirt road that's both steep and treacherous. The real scary part happens when you encounter traffic heading the other direction, somebody has to back up and hopefully find a wide spot to pass. You can hike the road if your fit and have the time but we hired a local Jeep tour guide - definitely a good investment :)

Is winter here? Less than a week ago we were still enjoying some nice weather from the previous season and it felt great. You know that wonter is here when IG nation rushes in to posting snow images. I personally like my seasons to transition slowly. What do you think?

Like many of the old abandoned mill buildings in the town I grew up in, this one is in the phases of getting a renovation to become office spaces, studios, and probably apartments. This sapling growing in the window will fall as a casualty of this space reuse.
After shooting this, I was tempted to break in to this old mill (something I did as a teen), find this old window, and unroot the tree and replant it somewhere. It was 90F the day I took this a few weeks ago, and it likely would not have survived. Its days remain numbered.
No, it's not the UK, but right here in NEOhio. We hadn't bicycled Mill Creek Park (Boardman, Ohio) in many years, and I was happy to find the old mill still looking good. This local treasure was built in 1845 and restored to its working condition in 1982. It operates today as it did in the 1800s, grinding corn, wheat, and buckwheat. The products are made and sold on premises.
The six-storey, red-brick Anchor mill sits alongside the tumbling waters of the River Cart and is an everlasting monument to Paisley’s rich history in the textile industry. Built in 1886 by the Clark and Co Ltd who eventually amalgamated with J & P Coats Ltd to become the largest thread manufacturer in the world. In 2005 the Grade A-Listed building was developed into 60 Luxury apartments with some office accommodation included.
Lindsay House is said to pre-date most tenements in Glasgow, having been built in 1863 by David Lindsay (son of the snuff mill owner) for himself and his workers. The tall, narrow baronial tenement seems out of keeping with the cottages in the vicinity and above the door is a perfect monogram with all the letters of the Lindsay name intertwined. The old mill buildings in the right, built as a meal mill in the 18th century were converted to a cardboard mill in 1812 with a small snuff mill added two years later. On David Lindsay’s death in 1902 the the mills closed and were subsequently converted into what they are today, Private houses.

An old style look to this photo taken at the weekend in Filipstad, Värmland, Sweden. A variety of textures added then a layer of Nik Silver (B&W) overlayed at 90% opacity.
At last I’ve managed to get away for a short break. Went for lunch at Langstone Quay in Hampshire. This is the old mill just along from The Royal Oak pub. Blue sky, sunshine and warmth, what more could you want
The Old Mill Bridge spans the Humber River in Toronto’s west end. Completed in 1916, its stone arches have become a familiar landmark for walkers, cyclists, and anglers along the river. The bridge stands as a quiet reminder of Toronto’s early 20th-century craftsmanship, blending history with the natural rhythm of the valley.
The fire escape on Britannia Mills, Stoney Battery, Huddersfield. This is a drone photograph in an effort to achieve a straight on perspective which can’t be done with a regular camera due to the height of the building and a steep tree covered embankment.
Built in the 1850s along the banks of the Galien River in New Troy, Michigan, this flour mill--originally known as the Morley Mill after its founders, Thomas and Ambrose Morley--remained in operation until 1989.
