Went here today during our snow storm. The dam was flowing super hard!

Three smoke stacks of the Brooks-Scanlon Mill in Bend Oregon before redevelopment into a shopping center. Taken 1998 on Kodak TMax 400

Found in the village of Dipley,North Hampshire, with the River Whitewater running through.

I could not find out anything of original work, but assuming it was a flower mill.

Found this info since uploading,

Dipley Mill, a Sixteenth Century Mill mentioned in the Doomsday Book on the River Whitewater Hampshire, Corn was ground here until 1921.

Now converted into a very lush home.

I only came across this location due to taking our dog to our groomer, who have moved to a nearby farm yard unit..

Have never been to this location before, its only about 6 miles from me but its off my normal beaten track.

Will return, of course, and spend a bit more time in taking my pictures, due to limited parking near the bridge on which i stood for this.

The iconic Hyde's Mill near tiny Hyde,WI. was built in 1850 by William Hyde.It burned sometime during the 1870's but was rebuilt. It was purchased by the Sawle family in 1931 and is currently for sale for a cool 299K.The Wisconsin DNR has stepped in and made the purchase near impossible because of a bunch of restrictions, according to a family member.Whatever happens, the hope is that the beauty and tranquility of the site will be preserved...

It wasn't very tranquil the day we visited the old mill as the nearby Hyde Store was having one heck of a party. As I was shooting this, the strains of "Sweet Home Alabama" were in my ears. The store, along with the Hyde Chapel make up the majority of the town, just half a mile from the mill site.

Some info on Hyde here...

On a cold, windy, rainy, and foggy Thanksgiving weekend, this is one of the few photos I was able to get with some fall colours.

Thank you for visiting my site and taking the time to leave a comment. Truly appreciated!

Historic Motor Mill, located in the ghost town in the former river town of Motor, IA. on a cold and very dreary early spring day. The Motor Mill was completed in 1869 but was only operational for 14 years and never made the investors any money, and the planned post office never opened. The mill was unique in that is was constructed of native stone in the area and that each side showed a different construction techinique-each different stone mason was allowed to highlight their own style. The old grist mill and town site was purchased by a local farmer and used in his operation for the next 80 years.

The mill and townsite was purchased by the state for a proposed historic site in 1983.The old steel truss bridge, washed out by a flood in 1991,was reconstructed and the site was slowly developed. I will definitely be re-visiting this historical site on a more photo-worthy time of the year!

Patrick Smith is a versatile and in-demand sax player. I've probably seen him with more bands than anyone else. At the Old Mill, he was in the band with Queen Pepper. It turned out to be quite a party. They started at midnight and were still going strong, when I left around 1:00 AM.

First I have seen Patrick playing in the parks during the Pandemania, but since then, he is well established, playing in the best Toronto jazz clubs. Patrick is frequent guest in New York City clubs. He played in several jazz festivals in North America and Europe. He teaches sax, but also still learns in workshops with veteran players in Toronto (Mike Murley, Kelly Jefferson) and NYC (Mark Shim). This year UNISON fundraising was again a success. Not sure about the financial side, but if you have a choice of 22 top Toronto's jazz bands (in 10 party rooms of the Old Mil), the entertainment was quarantined.

The Stanley Cup hockey playoffs left him a bit of an outsider in last few days, as he is an Ottawa (his home town) Senators fan and they are playing with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs prevailed and all is good in the music scene.;-)

Found in Lower Slaughter,Cotswolds.

Upper and Lower Slaughter share a fascinating name, which derives from 'miry place'. The link is the tiny River Eye, tributary to the nearby river Windrush. Lower Slaughter is just off the Fosse Way and very conservation-minded, a wander alongside the stream seems like a privilege. People actually live here! The villages are considered to be one of the prettiest in the area and are well photographed and the village has been used for filming and productions.

Lower Slaughter Mill & café is worth a visit. A mill is recorded in the Doomsday Book of 1086 on the site of The Old Mill. In the 14th Century it had begun to be known as Slaughter Mill and is open to the public to view today.( may be not at present due to the virous, of 23-03-2020)

Upper Slaughter is equally as attractive - a 'sainted village' meaning that it lost nobody in the First World War.

Watson's Mill in Manotick is a fully operational 1860's water powered grist and flour mill.... stil selling stone ground whole wheat flour made on site. The greenery framing it here is what caught my eye.

We almost missed seeing this charming old mill while driving along the south shore of the St. Lawrence River. I just happened to look over to my left to catch a glimpse of the mill tucked in on the other side of the bridge we drove over. Then we turned back. It was near a small community called Trois Saumons, Quebec. I enjoyed that moment of time to get out of the car for a lovely break exploring this area.

Southeast Michigan is dotted with old hydro-electric power plants built by Henry Ford.

The Old Mill Restaurant at Botley is a good new local place for lunch.

In the 17th century, the building used to house a water mill (flour and feed) and parts of the machinery have been kept as décor for the dining experience. In one room you can see a big milling engine and the original millstone housing. On the walls hang old photos of the mill and Botley, from which it can be seen that what is now a car park for diners used to be part of the river course.

In the main dining room is the waterfall, behind glass. My efforts to capture it failed so I probably need to return for another lunch to have another try!

A little walk this evening from Ballytrent to Oldmill and St Helen's. The tide was coming in with some nice waves and those big shower clouds out toward Tuskar Rock lit up beautifully at sunset.

Wishing all a fine weekend ahead...

An unspoilt beauty spot easily reached from the market town of Appleby, with an impressive waterfall, ford, millwheel and natural wildlife.

The mill is now used for self catering accommodation..

This lovely old barn is in Trumansburg, NY.

A familiar shot to some of you by now if you follow my stream. Once again I went to check out the foliage at this spot. Some colour but nothing compared to my last upload. The light was harsh as you can see so the falling water is not very well exposed!
