“The Ozark Mill, at the heart of Finley Farms, combines craftsmanship and discovery. Inspired by the spirit of the Midwest, Ozark Mill delivers simple pleasures and genuine hospitality, striking a balance between preservation and progress. A working grain mill that dates back to 1833, the Ozark Mill at Finley Farms….” It was a fun adventure to explore the surroundings on Christmas Day. We can’t wait to return and see what the inside is like!
Below the Golling waterfall, also called Schwarzbachfall, there is a rustic old mill next to the creek, which ripples wildly between mossy rocks.

Crystal Mill | Marble, Colorado
I could not resist to return to the Crystal Mill this fall. This place is magical with the mill towering on the rocks and the colorful aspen trees around. As we stayed in Marble for a few days, we were able to leave early. The conditions were perfect this time. Morning mist was wrapping around the landscape, and while we were driving and I admired the beauty of the landscape around us, I was hoping we wouldn’t arrive too late at the mill. We did get some of the misty conditions upon arrival, which was nice.
Looking at old stills from Hitchcock’s Rear Window a few weeks ago, got inspired and started messing with shots…
Beautiful Sunset at this lovely location. There has been a mill recorded on this site in the Doomsday book.
This represents an attempt to compensate for flat light on a dull and overcast day by using an interesting point of view.

The former American Thread Co. mill in Willimantic, Connecticut. This section is apartments I don’t know if it’s rentals or condos but I’m standing on a beautifully reimagined footbridge. When I was a kid, as my mother reminded me this is where we drove our car to get from one side to the other. Now it’s benches, flowers, and views of waterfalls. Just lovely.
Old windmill after sundown in Netherlands.
This windmill Molen van de Polder Westbroek in Oud Zuilen, near Utrecht is the survivor of the fire that destroyed the mill which was next to him.
The name of the village derives form the Old English term "slough" meaning "wet land"
The village is built on both banks of the River Eye, a slow-moving stream crossed by two footbridges, which also flows through Upper Slaughter. At the west end of the village there is a 19th-century water mill with an undershot waterwheel and a chimney for additional steam power. There is a ford where the river widens in the village and several small stone footbridges join the two sides of the community. While the mill is built of red brick most of the 16th and 17th century homes in the village use Cotswold limestone and are adorned with mullioned windows and often with other embellishments such as projecting gables.

Tucked away in the forested gorge of the Pirknerklamm near Oberdrauburg, this old mill stands silent by the rushing stream. I`ve known this place since childhood - and even now, it feels like time stands still here whenever I visit this place.
A place shaped by nature during the years - held in memory :-)

"The Walz mill is a water-driven milling and sawing mill... in the Swabian Jura ... first mentioned in 1406. Friedrich Walz…bought the mill in 1883, which his son Konstantin Walz then took over and which was later operated by the Walz sisters. The sisters Marie and Klara Walz, who lived there without running water and [almost] no electricity as self-sufficiency, operated the mill together as a sawmill until 2001. In August 2001, the 85-year-old Marie Walz died. Thereafter…Klara Walz continued to operate the mill on her own until 2009…The last of the sisters died at the Walzmill in 2015."
"The Walzmill was made famous 1999 by Rudolf Werner's 75-minute documentary on tv: The Lord knows what will happen to us - The Sisters of the Alb Mill“

The old mill, now a private residence, was a working mill until WWI. It is made up of three distinct parts, the mill itself built across a creek, built in 1800 – 1832, the mill store, built in 1800 – 1832 on brick piers and the oldest part, an attached windmill, built in 1720 – 1740. Barges could be brought up to the mill for transporting the milled goods away around the coast.
The mill operated two ten foot wheels, one set higher than the other to make full use of the stream feed and the tide, which was kept behind tide gates.
The black windmill is a distinctive feature of the landscape, its tarred outer skin resilient to the full force of the coastal weather.
