Week 40/52 - Weekly Photography Challenge - Technology

Technology is an amazing thing, this is my interpretation for week 40. The camera is able to fire the flashes remotely, no need for wires from camera to flashes.

How the image was taken

> Camera: Nikon D300

> Tripod

> Aperture:f8

>Lens: AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED

a Ford GT takes off with a very happy rider down the main street of London Ohio.

The London Cobra Show put on by the Ohio Cobra Club... this thing was pretty huge with hundreds and hundreds of Cobras on display and driving around town. If you like cars are in Ohio this is definitely something worth driving out to see.

I don't normally capture stuff like this... but I like cars and was invited out by a friend so I drug my camera along for the ride just for fun. Click Here to see the rest of the photos from the set.

Spirit Challenge reached a new competitive level for 88 athletes Sept. 13. For this iteration the Area I BOSS team incorporated elements of the Air Assault Confidence Course and other off-road obstacles between Camps Hovey and Casey to significantly raise the difficulty level. The challenge made its debut in and around Stewart Field on Camp Casey during the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Labor Day Festival Aug. 13, 2013.

Haven't been able to really test the new camera 'cause conditions have been bad for shooting anything lately-it's been hotter than hell and not a cloud in the sky. I went to the beach to try shooting shorebirds and fog was rolling in, completely enveloping the beach. Sunsets have been boring. So I went out and just goofed off while my s/o was mountain biking. This was taken at an open space park (is that a Southern California thing or what?). Anyway, this was the best I could do given what I had to work with!

My grandfather served in the 331st Aerial Photo Lab and was stationed at the Pantanella Air Base near Gioia, Italy during World War II. He left behind boxes of photos like these, and now I'm trying to fill in the details. If you have any information about the people in these photos, the locations of battles, or any other stories to share, please leave a comment.

San Diego DSLR Photo Group - Belmont Park Night Shoot:

I don't know if the parrot was pissed-off or not but he definitely showed a lot of attitude for this shot. Some guy had this bird and a blue-green parrot hanging out on the boardwalk near Belmont Park.

This year’s Veterans Day activities kicked off with a parade beginning at 9 a.m. at 16th Street and Atlantic Avenue, and ending at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial at 19th Street, across from the Virginia Beach Convention Center. The city of Virginia Beach has been hosting the Veterans Day parade since 1970, and the event is sponsored by the Hampton Roads Council of Veterans Organizations and Co-sponsored this year by the Fleet Reserve Association.

Parade lineup includes:

• This year’s Grand Marshal CAPT Manual A. Hipol, MC, USNR (Ret.), and Co-Marshal, CAPT Kenneth Golden, USN (Ret.).

• Marching bands from the U. S. Army, U.S. Navy and local area high school and middle school bands.

• Representatives from various Veterans organizations including the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Fleet Reserve Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

• Honor guards from the Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach Police and Sheriffs’ Departments, and Virginia Beach Fire Department.

• Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops from across the area, drill teams and more.

For five consecutive years, the City of Virginia Beach has been selected as a designated Regional Site for the observance of Veterans Day by the Office of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. The Department of Veterans Affairs’ Veterans Day National Committee selected the City of Virginia Beach as one of 55 designated sites nationwide that serve as a model for community events in honor of our Nation’s Veterans.

The Hampton Roads Council of Veterans Organizations and this year’s parade co-sponsor, the Fleet Reserve Association, along with the Mayors of Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk and Virginia Beach, cordially invite the public to this event.

Ruby was very happy and was looking forward to Tea with Sparrow and his mum, she even took some cakes that Maddie had made earlier.

''Now, I am going to remember my manners, and not talk with my mouth full, and try to not talk too much, anyway, Sparrow has many interesting things I like to hear about so I don't want to miss that, bye then, see you later'

Ruby said as she cheerfully left to go next door

Life has taken me away from both photography and Flickr for quite some time. I hope to be back on more frequently now and look forward to catching up with all the images of my Flickr friends.
