While driving down a country road in west Ottawa I spotted a small, unusual white 'bump' just sticking up from a clump of corn stalks about 50 meters (160 feet) into the field. A check with binoculars confirmed my guess.
It was a VERY cold, windy morning but I waited this bird out from a distance at the roadside. It had been actively scanning the surrounding field.
Finally it took off. The wind was to my advantage as it was blowing hard from over my right shoulder so the owl took off into the wind and partially facing me.

A street entertainer pauses between performances in Nice.
The costume remains bright, but the expression belongs to the man beneath it — a quiet moment where the character fades and the person returns.

WIT
It is november but already the buds are visible on the shrubs in my garden. And it has been raining all week. Such nice combination.
I also further tried the new mask functionality in Lightroom Classic. It is really amazing how easy it is to select the subject and process background and subject separately. I do notice however some chromatic aberration top left, at the lower part of the stem (purple), the upper part of the stem (green) and the top part of the drop (green). No idea how to remove that....
Salton City, California
I found myself in lovely La Quinta, California for the past week on a vacation my wife booked for us. I'm not the sitting around type, so while she laid by the pool I went and did dirty desert stuff..
Interesting sets of photos to follow.
What must the shade of this man think, he who was burned alive where his statue now stands, resolutely facing his tormentors?

Most of the piers along the Embarcadero are either still working piers or have been converted into bars, restaurants, museums etc. This one (I forget its number) was fenced off and looked in a bit of a state. Given the price of real estate in San Francisco it's surprising to see something this size unused.
There were quite a few Canada Geese at the lake today, swimming back and forth, here and there.
At one point, this fellow started honking loudly and flapping his wings. I'm guessing he was trying to show off and impress the ladies? But if that's the female right next to him he was trying to impress she doesn't look all that interested.
Off work today and not too much to do so just taking it easy.
A short walk earlier -this is the little wood just a field away from my house.
This is the ramp leading from westbound I-90 to southbound I-405 in Bellevue, WA - full rush hour, and I’m not moving an inch. Figured I might as well get some pics, the clouds were kind of cool.
As usual I have no idea why doing this sprang to mind just thought of beans flying off of my toast....so there you have it :-))
Just for the hell of it, I knew I would be passing Amtrak 304 on my way home from Bloomington, so I decided to track it via my Amtrak app. Just as I got past Elkhart, I noticed this stellar lashup on MBNAS-09. I knew it had to be waiting in the siding for 304, which hauled by my truck a few seconds later. After one spot in Williamsville being a no-go due to the recent fence work by UP, I settled on this shot, which still features the fence, on the southern edge of town. With a neat horn show, the train takes off at a steady pace bound for the Alton & Southern yard in East St. Louis.
