Take off. Hard to believe that little branch held that big bird - but they're actually fairly light under all that plumage.
When I moved from my Nikon D600 to a smaller Fuji mirrorless camera, I was faced with the dilemma that Fuji did yet have a super zoom lens. Since I don't take a lot of wildlife photography it wasn't too big a deal. To help, I hung onto my D600 body and a Sigma 50-500mm lens that I got in exchange for a Nikon prime lens. Moved all my shooting to the Fuji, except for things like this that need the zoom. Works well, but the autofocus wasn't working great on this day. So everything was manual focus. Might have had something to do with the -27 deg morning temps.
Enjoying time in this beautiful spot, I found this place over a year ago when I left a crumby and unsafe SL situation. I needed a spot that no one could find me. And I could find a feeling of zen.

There's a lot to see over quite a distance in this photograph. That's despite the haze caused mainly by the burn off taking place near Dolphin Sands. You can see how the smoke has spread all the way to Coles Bay. This is not something to be alarmed at, just a regular burn to ensure there is no deadly fire season in the hot dry summer.
The island you can see is called Picnic Island, although it does look like a dolphin sticking its head out of the water. You can gather by now that dolphins are common in this area of Great Oyster Bay. Beyond the island lies Nine Mile Beach, and as we continue around to the left we will eventually come to the little historic town of Swansea in the municipality of Glamorgan-Spring Bay. As you can gather the heritage of Welsh settlers in this area is quite obvious.
I have tagged one feature in this photo and that is the plateau of Ben Lomond, Tasmania's second highest mountain, which we can make out in the far distance. It was a perfect day for bushwalking.
Living a dream should be what we all supposed to be doing. Every day we follow the Sun on its daily trip over horizon, hardly paying any attention to how it looks. But this time you are in luck and for a treat. On Monday you will have a chance to witness and to observe a somewhat rare phenomena. Known as “Transit of Mercury” and meaning that our inner planet Mercury will be going over the milky white face of our Sun, at day time and until sunset. It will take hours, so no rush to observe. Don’t miss it, next one unfold in 2032.
Who knows, some leftover fireworks may just decide to go off too.
CAUTION: Looking at the Sun directly or through a telescope without proper protection can lead to serious and permanent vision damage. Do not look directly at the Sun without a solar filter.
Photo - more sunset action from Portinatx in Ibiza.

Pretty jacket on and off. One of the great joys of being a woman is the ability to combine different articles of clothing to produce different looks and moods. And of course some of us love posing too.......

Scanned off an original slide in my collection that did not make my book on Barry scrapyard. Again you can have a go at identifying the locos. Shame so many GWR engines ended up so unloved at the end of GWR steam in 1965.
Today you would be standing on the first floor of a modern house looking out at the pumphouse cafe in the distance no locos tracks or oil tanks.
