The first permanent photograph was an image produced in 1826 by the French inventor Nicéphore Niépce on a polished pewter plate covered with a petroleum derivative called bitumen of Judea. Produced with a camera, the image required an eight-hour exposure in bright sunshine.

This photo was taken on one of my favorite places on the Blueridge Parkway. You have to walk up to this spot, because there are no places to park. If you find this spot be careful on your walk, everyone is looking at the beautiful scenery and not the road.
Heres a funny little ritual - I only ever take my tights or stockings off just before getting into bed - why I don't know - A touch of OCD maybe?.
... and never land again
in fact these are toy-balloons that i saw in the showcase of a toy-shop near my house.

As they love to do, this Peacock was "showing off" its beautiful feathers !! Seen in the Celebration Garden at the Los Angeles County Arboretum, Arcadia CA.
I really wonder if this is the same Anna's from last fall that seemed to watch my every move, fly really close to me, perch as near as possible to me and listen to me talk. I like to think so anyway! See below.
yesterday the waiting time to get into the Chinese pavilion was five hours and to the Saudi-Arabian pavilion 4 hours. these are the two most popular ones.

The common buzzard measures between 40 and 58 cm (16 and 23 in) in length with a 109–136 cm (43–54 in) wingspan and a body mass of 427–1,364 g (0.941–3.007 lb), making it a medium-sized raptor and has a wide variety of plumages which can vary in Britain from almost pure white to black, but usually shades of brown. They breed in woodlands, usually on the fringes, but favour hunting over open land. They eat mainly small mammals, and will come to carrion. A great opportunist, it adapts well to a varied diet of pheasant, rabbit, other small mammals to medium mammals, snakes and lizards. They are fiercely territorial, and, though rare, fights do break out if one strays onto another pair's territory, but dominant displays of aggression will normally see off the interloper. Pairs mate for life. To attract a mate (or impress his existing mate) the male performs a ritual aerial display before the beginning of spring. This spectacular display is known as 'the roller coaster'. He will rise high up in the sky, to turn and plummet downward, in a spiral, twisting and turning as he comes down. He then rises immediately upward to repeat the exercise.
The gathering of orange hi-vis rather gives the game away: Metrolink tram 1014 has come a cropper, as a points failure has caused her to head straight on and off the rails instead of gliding round to her right and on to the Piccadilly Gardens stop.

37884 & 57312 pass Willington with the 5Q65 Derby Litchurch Lane to Oxley on March 12 2022. Sandwiched between the two loco's were barrier vans 6378 & 6379 and brand new West Midlands Railway 'Aventra' 730006.
Just about the only interesting working to pass during a sunny spell throughout the entire day!
One advantage of driving Lewis to school this morning was being able to catch the lovely sunlight falling across the fields - I might use my nifty fifty more often for landscapes!!

While out walking this morning, for lack of anything else to occupy my mind, I started paying attention to the many signs posted as a result of covid-19. No aesthetic value per se, but truly a historical reference.

Pulau Pangkor is an island off the coast of Perak in north-west peninsular Malaysia, reached by ferry from Lumut (a small coastal town that links to Ipoh, or from Sitiawan). It has a land area of only 8 square kilometers, and a population of approximately 25,000 islanders. It is heavily promoted as a low-key tourist destination by the Malaysian government, but fishing and fish products remain major industries.
Historically, Pangkor was a refuge for local fishermen, merchants and pirates. In the 17th century, the Dutch built a fort in an effort to control the Perak tin trade. In 1874, it was the location of a historic treaty between a contender to the Perak throne and the British government (The Pangkor Treaty), which began the British colonial domination of the Malay Peninsula.
Pangkor is famous for its fine beaches and a mix of low budget to 5 star accommodations. Teluk Nipah and Coral Bay on the north west of the island is extremely popular with travellers from Europe. The quality of sand is far more superior in the Pasir Bogak Beach as compared to elsewhere on the island. The sand is golden brown, quite similar to most leading prime beaches.
Since the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami in Indonesia, Thailand and to a lesser extent the West Coast of Malaysia in December 2004, there has been less local tourists visiting Pangkor.
In 2006, a biotechnology centre, a joint venture of Global Hi-Q Malaysia S/B and Hi-Q Bio-Tech International (Taiwan) Ltd has began operations with initial investments of RM100million (USD30m). Their operations include fish farming, aquaculture and the first harvest is expected in 2009.

the photos presented here were taken on the occasion of two weddings,
observing with an external but participatory eye, the great event that is created outside the churches before and after the religious wedding ceremonies, due to the presence of friends, relatives, parents (and, as a side dish, also curious and tourists, in fact there we find in Taormina) .... all wearing the best smile (now covered by masks), and the best dress, women exhibit original or showy hairstyles, grateful for some jewels, while men show off ties and socks sometimes too short, wearing polished shoes. The two religious ceremonies took place a few days apart from each other, before the decree of the President of the Council of Ministers of 24/10/2020, one in the church of San Giuseppe, the other in the Basilica Minore (ex Duomo), both from Taormina (Sicily).
The photos unfold presenting sometimes a temporal succession of the same marriage, other times from one ceremony to another; I used a photographic technique at the time of shooting, which in addition to capturing the surrounding space, also "inserted" a temporal dimension: in fact, most of the photos are confused-blurry-blurred-imprecise-indecisive ... the Anglo-Saxon term that encompasses with a single word this photographic genre is "blur", these photos were made in the shooting phase, deliberately lengthening the exposure, and not as an effect created subsequently, in retrospect, in the post-production phase.
......... ........ .........
