My photography day started off on a rather uninspiring note, the weather was very dull and overcast with the prospect of rain to add to the misery. Both Steve and I decided that we should make the effort to get out with our first stop being Crovie which is a small village that sits on the East Coast of Scotland. The main street is for pedestrians only, everything has to transported by shopping trolley or wooden barrows as there are no cars allowed. There is however some limited parking at the far end of the village. We were pleasantly surprised to see the weather had brightened up enough to catch the odd photograph where the sun shone.
If you've never experienced having an estimated 140,000 geese taking off at once you've missed a GREAT birding experience. Squaw Creek Wildlife Refuge, Mound City, Missouri.
I love discovering new walks and today was a great example of one which has been right beneath my nose for some time.It was the field itself which caught my eye -the sloping hill of lush green. The grass was so short you could tee off!
I received good news and bad news in the last 24 hours.
Gravesend has puddles; when I arrived at the River Thames this morning and crossed the grassy - ha ! - expanse the exposed dirt was moist. With a light wind and persistent cloud cover that may not be burned off before we get our next wee bit rain.
The bad news is I have been a Celtic supported since about 1963 and last night my team disgraced itself profoundly and laughably. Ho, hey-ho.

Chances were that no one here would survive the war.
As with others at the "Tip of the Spear", they knew it very well !

Taken earlier this year at RAF Lakenheath. Most of the jets were taking off 'normally' but this pilot decided to invert the plane as he/she left the runway. Pretty cool. Maybe they requested a flyby too?
This photo is for Barbara. See what I mean? A tiny yellow bird was flitting through the tree branches and when it stopped I focused and pushed the button and here is the shot!
After working Staley, CSAO MO-33 rolls back through Delmorr Avenue with six outbounds for Morrisville Yard.
We're off tomorrow for a summer of hiking the Pyrenees from the Bay of Biscay to the Mediterranean (fingers crossed). This is from a much shorter (three days) but fairly wild and grueling hike last summer, in Tombstone Provincial Park, the Yukon.
I'll catch up with folks in late August or September. Enjoy your summers.
