UBU 72N was unique with Crosville, as all other Seddons in the fleet were RUs.
This bus had been built as a Pennine VII demonstrator, and as such was mid engined, rather than rear underfloor. It was powered by a horizontal Gardner 6HLXB. Contemporary gossip has it that the bus was either given or permanently loaned by the manufacturer to the operator to assist with vehicle availability caused by poor reliability of the RU fleet. It was also said that many of the horizontal Gardner power units from the latter found their way into Crosville's Leyland Nationals replacing the inadequate fixed head 510. Bodywork on UBU, and for that matter the RUs was built in house by Seddon's Pennine Coachcraft subsidiary. It is seen here making a U turn in the centre of Chester.

No cheating, pure reflections, sun in water in black building in the background, and some not visible background reflected in the window on the left, and something reflected in the arched window on the right ... Odd
Soo 6058 and 1551 east are in the midst of a rather unusual move at Watertown. Rolling into town on the wrong main, they head east, over the crossover back to the eastbound main, then hit reverse and back all the way up past the CNW diamond on the eastbound rails. Track work to the east likely required the odd move. August 1991
Testing my Sony E 3.5-5.6 / 18-55mm objective with Kooka 21+16mm extension tubes for macro shots. Wasn't very impressed, hard to get good focus.

From the vegie patch over the weekend. Set up on a sheet of white cardboard by the back window. Some very tiny blobs of blutack cloned out, levels and curves (smartcurve plugin) adjusted in PSE6.

Yellow, black, yellow, yellow...
Sure, there's still a few patched Southern Pacific units out there. But I no longer actually expect to see one. Least of all on what looks to be a pretty important Intermodal.
It is, after all, more than two decades since the yellow team swallowed the black team.

While grabbing some sunrise shots yesterday I turned around and saw this odd white cloud poking out through some stormy clouds. HDR 2xp (I appearently missed the high end shot)...
The municipal Warrington fleet started to take the Dennis Dart in 1991 in 9 metre form with bodies from a variety of builders. The odd one out was 220 which was an 8.5 metre example and had been exhibited by Northern Counties at the 1991 commercial motor show at the NEC in Birmingham.
When new it had been fitted with orange moulded plastic seating which quickly earned it the name of "The Clockwork Orange", but these were removed in place of conventional seating not long after, the orange units being fitted to the Leyland Titan PD2 that was in use as a promotional vehicle for the Coach Lines subsidiary at the time.
The bus is seen here parked one evening at the Wilderspool premises in the company of a similar Carlye bodied Dart.
