From my shoot with TS. These were shot with my Mamiya 645 AFD with my 80mm 2.8 lens at about f8 on Fuji Provia 100 which I hand developed. The main light was a White Lightning X1600 with a Paul C. Buff 47" Octabox above the camera. The rim light and the background light were done with an Alien Bees B800 with a Paul C. Buff 86" Extreme Silver PLM. There was also a silver reflective panel camera right as fill.

The other side of my face wasn't exactly blown out but it looked funny...so since it's 3am I didn't want to mess with it and just chopped it off. I like half images anyways.

...no idea what's up with my hair. I was probably jumping around or something.

Life has been really, really amazingly good lately. I just randomly became a happy person like 2-3 months ago, and it's been pretty epic. I had no idea life could be like this. Nothing happened to warrant this new mood. It's like I just woke up one day, and life was easy. I woke up, and the little things didn't bug me any more...heck- the BIG things...the MASSIVE things that would totally throw me in the past, barely bother me now.

It's ridiculous. I'm still amazed. I'm still so in awe of this new way of life. I had no idea what happiness meant...I had no idea how easy it made your life.

I honestly didn't think I would ever anticipate life. But now...I'm excited about it. And for absolutely no reason at all. I just love life. I feel the possibilities. Even when I'm failing now, it's so much better than when I was at the top of my game before. I don't think that I was necessarily unhappy before...I simply didn't really notice either way. Like...my life was tooootally starting to tailspin, but "happy" and "unhappy" just didn't enter into my mind. I'm not sure I really understood it. I didn't realize how unhappy I was until I became happy- I'm not sure I really deeply understood what unhappiness WAS until now that I've experienced simple happiness for a sustained period of time.

I've been on a decent schedule for the past few months, but even when I'm not, I'm still in this great mood.

I kind of feel jipped. Like...I had NO freaking idea that life could be this easy & enjoyable. I've got *loads* more stress in my life now than before...but for whatever reason, it doesn't bother me. I'm somehow able to handle it.

The last few months of the year should be pretty crazy...I just hope this good mood continues on until then...because if it doesn't, I'm totally screwed.

2-3 months ago my life was crumbling before my eyes. The free-fall had begun, and I simply didn't care enough to stop it. And now...things absolutely could not be better...and there's no explanation. As much as I'd like to say I had this crazy huge moment with God, I didn't. As much as I'd like to say I just decided to try harder, again, I didn't. Things just got good.

I don't need to know how, or why- and I don't even need to know if it will last. The relief is just so incredible and so desperately needed that I would be a fool to ask questions. Happiness has found me...and I think I've taken to it quite well.

This is the longest it's ever lasted...and it might end tomorrow, but it's been an incredible experience. If the rest of my life could be anything like the last few months...I wouldn't miss out on it for the world. Because again, nothing special has happened...I've just somehow developed this strange zest for life. And even if everything goes wrong again...maybe this experience will have been so solidly good that it'll get me through until it decides to strike again.

so yes *sighs* whatever the reason, however it happened- I'll take it! I'm not going to waste my time asking questions, rather I'm finally going to enjoy living my life.

don't let go

don't let go

we can crawl out of the shadows

don't let go

don't let go

we can find our way back home

silence keeps our stories straight

fighting for the perfect stake

wave your flag

oh i believe

hope is comfort if not relieve

don't let go

we can crawl out of the shadows

don't let go

don't let go

we can find our way back

there is a heart that still can beat

with every breath thats inside me

and find a spark that is buried deep

and wont go out,

so please

Another fantastic creation by Niki Crew. Set in a bolted wooden frame, the canvas is clear glass, and the wonderful creations, in this case the fish, are made of re-heated glass. The fifth one from the shoot.

Strobabble stuff: 300Ws Hobo Lighting Merlin on full power underneath in a 120cm octabox, pointed backwards to light white background. To camera left, another Merlin 300Ws with 7 inch reflector cross lighting the frame from top left. Triggered using Ojecoco H430 triggers at 1/250s on Nikon D800 with Tamron 24-70 at 48mm, F5. Black flags used to the front on right and left to provide definition to the fidh.

This is Tom AKA DoubleTee ....I met Tom on Saturday at our little mini workshop/meet here at our studio. Tom is just an all around NICE guy, he has the best smile and such warm eyes. He loves to model and was the first one to step up and say he wanted his picture taken. I had heard so much about him through other Flickr friends and I must say they were right about him. He is the kind of guy you want to hang out with as you know it will be good times. He is an avid traveler and has some pretty lofty goals that he has set for himself by the time he hits the big 5-0!!!!! Check out his profile for more info on that, he has been around the globe and the country quite a bit! Make sure to visit his stream for some really cool pictures!

Enjoy,

Hector

@Doubletee.....I just showed your portrait of him....he liked it a lot and says hello! You and Kim are too funny!

the other night at one of CTP's final shows i did shoots with Venia, and Destruction Of A King. my buddy mike drums for CTP and informed me after my shoot with the first two that this was one of their final shows and they'd like some tour shots with every one as well as some funny shots just chilling. i gladly obliged and we shot a lil bit i didnt set up rims or fillers due to no room nor did it really fit them they are a simple to the point band and in hardcore its not about flash as much as its about the person next to you in the photo. i captured one serious one just incase they might need it but yea def a sad note in hardcore for me. (catch them at the "bring it back to the kids fest" in May for the final show)

Katie asked me to shoot wedding last weekend. Katie and her soon-to-be husband were one of the most laid-back couples I have ever met. Their wedding was not as formal as most, yet it was elegantly romantic in its simplicity. It was an absolute pleasure to shoot the wedding and bridal session.

New toy - fabulous light source 120 cm Octabox from Karlu

www.karlu.com/product_info.php?products_id=10944

This thing is amazingly easy to set up in comparison to any softbox. It's mounted on a Bowens speedring and just folds out like a brolly - done in seconds. No messing about with rods etc. It has an inner baffle as well as an outer and the light quality is amazingly soft. This is not a sales pitch for Karlu but just an observation on the best lighting accessory I have ever bought.

My brother Brad and his friend Eric took time out of there busy day to come over an install my wall mount system. They did a quick pose against the new background. The living room is unorganized, I still have couches in the way so they were basically on top of the paper. Still a good first test and another step closer to studio setup
