The only facts known in relation to British merchant Charles Thompson are the ones he records in his travel account, about which some scholars have hypothesized that it is a fictional narrative. In any case, the work knew huge editorial success; first published in 1744, it was republished in 1752, 1754, 1767, and 1798. From the introduction, one learns that, following his father's death, Thompson inherited a large fortune and, from love of knowledge, in order to appease his sorrow and to satisfy his own natural curiosity, he started out on a long voyage, in the company of a freind who spoke several languages.
The travellers set out from London in March 1730. They crossed over from Dover to Calais, and travelled to Rouen, Paris and Marseille. They went on to Genoa, Milan, Parma, Modena, Bologna, Florence, Pisa and Sienna, to end up in Rome. In October 1731 they visited Naples, and then Ancona, Ravenna, Ferrara and Padua. They sailed to Malta from Venice in May 1732 and reached Chania in early June.
The two travellers left Crete a month later, and, after staying in Milos for a month, they visited Naxos, Paros, Antiparos, Delos, Syros, Kea, Kythnos, and reached Athens. They toured the monuments of the city and several locations in Attica, Boeotia and Phocis (Eleusis, Megara, Corinth, Livadeia, Arachova, Delphi and Thebes). In November 1732 they left for Istanbul, where they stayed for several months. In September 1733, they left the Dardanelles to visit Izmir, Chios, Samos, Patmos, Ephesus, Kos and Rhodes. They ended up in Cyprus in February 1734, from where they crossed over to the lands of the Middle East (Tripolis, Baalbek, Damascus, Beirut, Sidon, Jerusalem). In May 1734 they travelled to Egypt and toured Kairo, Alexandria and Mount Sinai. They returned to England in April 1735.
Thompson includes several details on travelling conditions as well as the history and the monuments of each country in his travel account. However, he is mostly interested in space, modern life, the human factor, social life, economy, production and commerce, and thus achieves to render an comprehensive and to a certain extent objective picture of the lands he visited in the early 18th century.

1734 Mayıs ayında Mısır'a seyahat edip Kahire, İskenderiye ve Sina'yı ziyaret ederler.

I need to work to get top light in with the 40x objective. There is only a small working distance. There are objectives with extra working distance which might be the key, or using something of a ring flash around the objective.

Subjectively Objective #7. An old building located in Janesville, Wisconsin, USA.
I'm very excited to show you a brand new conceptual series I've been shooting the past month! A nice change from my norm subject matter of travel, lifestyle, landscapes, models, and nature. Retro / old "gems" in simple environments. Subtle colors, angular uncluttered compositions.
I hope you enjoy...

AM I PAYING TO BE PROMOTED?
No. You are paying for the seminars, and while I strongly encourage everyone to be present for the seminars, it is not required. You may show up for the second half only. But, again, I strongly encourage everyone to be present for the seminars. It helps us with organization, expresses to the instructors that you are interested in learning, and fosters a team oriented environment.
WHAT ARE THE STANDARDS FOR BEING PROMOTED?
Under the Capital flag you must demonstrate the 3 Ts: time on the mat, toughness and technique. Visualize a triangle, where technique is on top. On the bottom are time and toughness. Those who are very tough might have the time requirement reduced (but not below the minimum). Those with a great deal of time might have the toughness requirement reduced. Also, other variables may be taken into consideration. For example, one of our newest members is beginning his Jiu-Jitsu journey at 70 years young! Modifications will be made to ensure his journey is both challenge and rewarding!
WHAT ARE THE TIME REQUIREMENTS?
A blue belt takes an average of 1.5 years. A purple belt takes an average of 5 years. A brown belt takes an average of 7 years. A black belt takes an average of 10+ years. Most of the practitioners who tested for black belt had between 12 and 17 years of experience, and the pass rate was about 50%.
WHO MAKES THE DECISION FOR ADVANCEMENT?
Three instructors, including at least one black belt, must approve any promotion.
WHY DOES THE FORMAT KEEP CHANGING?
It’s been consistent for the last two years. However, we do expect that slight changes will be made as time goes on. We always seek feedback from students, peers and our instructors to make things better. The current format is: seminars (optional), sparring, promotions, gauntlet (optional), and group picture.
ETIQUETTE
At promotions events every practitioner should wear a laundered Capital branded white training kimono. This is the equivalent of wearing formal attire for a special occasion, like a wedding. Also, it is extremely impolite to ask an instructor about being promoted.
WHAT DOES THE NAVY BLUE BAR MEAN?
Royce Gracie and the Valente Brothers wanted to honor Helio Gracie’s life and legacy by wearing the navy blue belt that Helio wore. Going forward they are asking representatives to wear the navy bar (excluding white belts and new black belts). For more information about Grandmaster Helio Gracie’s decision to wear the navy belt visit: graciekentucky.blogspot.com/2010/06/why-did-grandmaster-h...
DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR PUTTING A NAVY BAR ON MY BELT?
The easiest thing to do is purchase athletic tape: www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&...
I BELIEVE YOU MADE AN ERROR REGARDING MEMBER X, BY PROMOTING/NOT PROMOTING HIM….
Think about a Jiu-Jitsu competition. Is it possible, from time to time, for the referee to make an error? Of course! It is also possible for the decision makers at our semiannual gatherings to make errors. However, as practitioners progress, more scrutiny is applied to their rank, and ultimately 40 - 60 black belts will test them. At that time practitioners must demonstrate the complete stand-up self-defense curriculum, striking, clinching, grappling and philosophy (the 753 Code).
I caution those who dwell on the rank progress of others, especially as it compares to their own. Instead I encourage you to apply your vigilance to your own journey in the gentile art.
DO I NEED TO BE AT THE PROMOTIONS EVENT?
To be promoted to the next color belt, yes. Technically, to be promoted with stripes on the purple and brown belt, also yes. However, we needed to honor time constraints at Saturday's event, and stripes for deserving practitioners will be awarded this week and in January.
IS THE GAUNTLET HAZING?
What is the difference between a healthy ritual and hazing? What in fact is hazing? According to Wikipedia: "Hazing is the practice of rituals and other activities involving harassment, abuse or humiliation used as a way of initiating a person into a group.” Does the gauntlet qualify?
Couldn’t we define the gauntlet as a rite of passage? Google defines a rite of passage as, "a ceremony or event marking an important stage in someone's life, especially birth, puberty, marriage, and death.” While I don’t know of any peer reviewed research articles, the overwhelming consensus is that there are tremendous psychological benefits to being included in a rite of passage.
There’s also acknowledging that our ritual is far less dangerous than the activities which led to it. Whether it’s the rigorous exercise, intense sparring rounds, competitions or the black belt test. In fact, Professor Pedro Valente noted that we are training to be effective in a proven fighting system. To take a hit is not only to be initiated, it's an essential component of our training.
I am not familiar with many of the reasons why people haze, and personally, I have never been involved in a hazing ritual. The gauntlet is our rite of passage; a tradition handed down to us by our elders. I am opposed to taking away or intensifying the gauntlet tradition. Our tradition is about the student, and I don’t believe that practitioners at Capital MMA experience some perverse pleasure in seeing people suffer. Rather, we are celebrating with the newly inducted.
I believe that the gauntlet tradition should only be carried on in the presence of the black belt instructors, exclusively at our semiannual promotions events. Also, it is our charge as black belts to educate junior members of our tradition, and how we conduct ourselves during the rite of passage. Injury, abuse and humiliation are never our objectives.
Finally, this tradition is, and always will be, optional. However, our requirements for being promoted are not. The rigor, intensity, and sacrifice experienced by senior practitioners is significant.
Objective: Out and About, HDR Photo
Camera mode: I was in Aperture Priority to be able to choose my aperture without having to care about the shutter speed.
ISO: I chose ISO 100 in order to reduce the shutter speed.
Focal Length: My picture has been taken in 28mm because I wanted the whole shed and the grey sky.
Aperture: My aperture was f/29 in order to have as much details as possible in focus.
Shutter Speed: My shutter speed was set automatically to 1/10.
Objective 3: Elements and Principles of Design
Texture: With this HDR Picture, I wanted to highlight the grass, the wood of the shed and the clouds.
Colour: I darkened the highlights and brightened the shadows in order to highlight the orange of the wood, the green of the grass and the white of the gravel.
Space: There is no negative space because I wanted a lot of details in this HDR.
Balance: Even though, the shed is on the left of the picture. The house is directed to the right.
Emphasis: The house is placed on the third line of the Rule of Third.
Objective 4: Lighting
I took this picture outside and waited until the sun had a good position so the shadow is not directly on the shed but towards the side of it.
Objective 5: Post Production
I took seven pictures with seven different exposures (-3.0 to +3.0) merge them to HDR with Photoshop. Then I changed the highlights, shadows, contrast, saturation, vibrance, clarity, sharpening and post-cropping vignetting in Lightroom 4.
Objective 6: Critique
Santa was nice to me this year and left me a Nikon D700. Here is one of my test shots at in a very dim lit alley at ISO 6400

In the very late 1960's I was (too) keen to shoot b&w with my Exakta Varex. I had an enlarger (Opemus II) with a few objectives.
Later I changed the enlarger and got some new objectives - said to be of top quality.
Much, much later I bought at a final sale some enlarging objectives with L39 mount. They have been waiting for suitable projects.
One of the hottest discussions about enlarger objectives concerns the question 'reversing or not?'. So far I haven't experiences - and no opinion.

Focus on Eldercare's response to COVID-19
At the purpose when the noxious impacts of COVID-19 showed first in Wuhan, the entire city and therefore the entire of Hubei Province ground to a halt. The lockdown of Wuhan brought remarkable torment and threatening difficulties for several individual occupants therein first focus. Presently, COVID-19 represents those equivalent difficulties for individuals and social welfare frameworks all-inclusive. Especially, it tests our aggregate endeavors to believe one another, particularly the foremost defenseless among us.
As a populace, individuals quite 70 will generally have more fragile insusceptible frameworks and progressively fundamental conditions that obstruct their capacity to battle the infection. They're likewise sure to dwell on bunch day to day environments, nearby people. Floods of COVID-19 passings in nursing homes — first within the Seattle territory, at that time on the brink of Sacramento and now during the country — have underscored this inauspicious reality. Up until now, Californians quite 65 have made up, at any rate, a fourth of the state's affirmed instances of COVID-19.
Be that because it may, guidelines, especially for helping living offices, are unsafely failing to satisfy the expectations in protecting California's older folks from this infection. Luck, Gov. Gavin Newsom's plan on Aging activity, as of now ongoing, presents an opportunity to forcefully address this peril and find how to secure an enormous number of more seasoned Americans.
Helped living focuses are an aid to the Eldercare business and therefore the enormous corporate proprietors that currently command the market. Simultaneously, in any case, an absence of guideline and oversight of staffing levels and capabilities — particularly prerequisites for on-location doctors and much prepared clinical experts — has left the business defenseless against misuse and unfortunate results. One glaring issue that has got to be tended to: helped living focuses are directed by the state Department of Social Services rather than the Department of Public Health.
In any case, it helped to measure maybe a piece of social welfare and clinical consideration conveyance framework, not only a direction for living. Propelled a year ago, Newsom's plan on Aging has framed a warning advisory group, is holding open gatherings and within the fall is planned to offer a 10-year plan which will address issues from lodging and vagrancy to crisis readiness to manhandle and disrespect. The venture has made a "Value Committee" to urge a contribution from a progressively differing gathering of residents and associations, including agents of the crippled network, Native Americans and other ethnic minorities.
Considering the spreading coronavirus general wellbeing emerging, it's basic that the representative's plan on Aging takes on an expansive and genuine open arrangement job. We weren't bothered with elevated level clichés for tending to the wants of the old. We'd like solid arrangements, solid guidelines with implementation teeth and a guarantee to continued oversight.
The Age of COVID-19
Older people who get themselves out of the blue alone without authority over their conditions are at specific hazards for an assortment of serious, even hazardous, physical and psychological well-being conditions, including a subjective decrease. Limitations on the opportunity of development ought to be proportionate and not founded solely on age.
COVID-19, as different irresistible melodies, represents a higher hazard to populaces that live in nearness. This hazard is especially intense in nursing or matured consideration offices, where the infection can spread quickly and has just brought about numerous passings. About 1.5 million older people individuals live in the nursing homes in the US, barring helped living offices and different settings making nearness.
Twenty-three individuals kicked the bucket in a flare-up at an office in Washington State in February and March, and the US Centers for Disease Control detailed 400 additional cases in offices as of April 1. On March 31, wellbeing experts in the Grand East district of France detailed 570 passings of older people in nursing homes.
Older people often end up in nursing homes due to governments' inability to offer adequate social types of assistance for individuals to live freely in the network, approaches that have put millions at included danger of getting the infection as a result of their organization. Governments ought to guarantee the progression of network-based administrations with the goal that individuals don't wind up in organizations without different alternatives.
Expound now on the roles played via care laborers in continuing the lives of the old during that emergency, and who, however dreadful themselves, by and by remain day in and outing inside the bounds of their wards to offer fundamental consideration.
Care supervisor Chang, the woman in charge of the consideration laborers among whom I led my hands-on work, coordinated the change of her ward into a self-sufficient fixed of a unit of care. The passage to her floor is carefully monitored; just fundamental conveyances are permitted, for instance, nourishment and clothing. Since nobody can enter or leave the structure, the flask for the older was transformed into a dozing region for care laborers. Despite the very fact that a lot of consideration laborers have their circle of relatives to require care of, they put that piece of their life under the control of others. Care specialist Lin, whose spouse died at the start of the pandemic, did not have the chance to completely grieve his passing due to incessant understaffing at Sunlight. She came back to figure following the burial service, despite realizing that she not, at now expected to figure at Sunlight to hide her significant other's clinical costs. Lin's arrival says much regarding her promise to her calling, to her colleagues, and to the old she had come to understand so well. My examination with care laborers recommends that it's an enthusiastic association and an awareness of other's expectations that propels them to remain the end of the day in care work. This is often borne out immediately.
Carefully add China is often seen as being grimy and unfortunate, thanks to an excellent extension to its nearby hook up with the realistic consideration required by slight, skilled bodies. Chinese consideration laborers are for the foremost part provincial to urban transients or urban specialists laid far away from previous state-claimed processing plants. In any case, direct consideration is intricate. In any case, its unpredictability goes unrecognized, or maybe disregarded by institutional powers that organize benefits and generalize the old as bodies to chip away at, to the disregard of their social-passionate necessities. As is valid with Sunlight, things which might typically undermine the keenness of care laborers, for instance, the absence of institutional acknowledgment for his or her enthusiastic work, are required to be postponed. Care specialists are currently centered around a shared objective: ensuring the gift assistance of the older. COVID-19 propels care laborers to consider what kind of care is required and the way to offer that care. It fills in as a channel through which the elemental beliefs of care are observed. Care is about common human weakness and our intrinsic association. Care laborers at Sunlight, in their aggregate every minute of everyday endeavors to secure the older, typify this ethic through their consideration. May the respectful regard, they hold of the older in their consideration redound on them and everyone consideration laborers overall who are fighting this pandemic on the bleeding edge!
Like the consideration laborers at Sunlight, the laborers in numerous nations are regarded human life so that we cannot be embarrassed to return clean with the leading edge about ourselves. Salute the spearheading staff who salutes our purposeful endeavors to handle the pandemic in numerous settings around the globe, within the daylight, yet additionally to ensure that veterans are appropriately treated, took care of and washed.
We all hope and pray that the coronavirus will soon be controlled and subdued. And that when the crisis is behind us, that we continue the important work of protecting the elderly and other vulnerable segments of our citizenry.

Quite by chance at lunchtime I looked at the rail tour timetables and noticed that there was one on its way. With only about an hour's notice I headed to my usual location of Crookston Road by Inveresk. Quite a few people turned up to see Class A3 4472/60103 Flying Scotsman hauling the 1Z48 The Flying Scotsman Centenary Weekender from York to Waverley.
I brought both the D40 and D7200 with me this time, so that I could use the Sigma 70-300mm and capture something of the long straight that stretches from Inveresk to beyond Wallyford station where the overbridge is located.
"It's coming, it's coming!" and I was just able to rattle off two or three long photos before hurridly swapping to the 35mm lens for some closer up shots.

One day I noticed in Evilbay a German shop selling oldfashioned Tamron Adaptalls as a lot of four tubes for a rather miserable price - without any warranties. As a player I decided to buy the lot to see...
It is quite impossible to get a plastic feeling with this tube. This must be a 100% glass and metal combination: it weights a lot.

Objective:
Through a partnership between AidJoy, Peru's Loreto region Ministry of Health, The University of Mississippi School of Medicine, Project Amazonas, and Rivers of the World (ROW), we seek to finance, build, equip and staff an Amazon medical boat to address the needs of remote and under-served jungle villages and communities in the Peruvian Amazon. The proposed steel-hull boat will be able to house 16 medical personnel, and will have dedicated dental, minor surgery, and pharmacy rooms, as well as attending rooms that can be opened into a meeting hall.
Activities and programs to be undertaken by the Amazon medical boat:
1.Provision of regular and modern health services and education to the inhabitants of remote river villages and communities, while emphasizing self-reliance and the use of effective traditional remedies and treatments.
2.Solicitation of donations of medicines, medical supplies, reference materials and equipment for the conduct of medical operations. Coordination and distribution of shipments of donated medical materials to hospitals, clinics, and doctors in the Department of Loreto in the Peruvian Amazon.
3.Training of health workers in remote communities for the treatment of independently manageable ailments. Provision of these health workers and communities with basic medical kits, as well as provision of instructional materials for the teaching of preventive medicine by health workers and teachers.
4.Arranging and coordinating visits to the Peruvian Amazon by volunteer health and development professionals, and by appropriate student groups, for the purposes of contributing services and training, and/or participation in health/educational training activities.
5.Initiation of child health programs in the areas of infectious disease and nutritional health.
6.Treatments of medical conditions where possible, while emphasizing disease prevention (health education) and the cultural preservation of effective traditional remedies and health practices.
7.In coordination with the School of Medicine of the National University of the Peruvian Amazon, the development of a tropical medicine course for both national and international participants. Part of the tropical medicine course would take place in the city of Iquitos, Peru, while part of it would be based aboard the Amazon medical boat.
Effect:
Project Amazonas has been addressing the medical needs of indigenous people in the Peruvian Amazon since 1994. Annually, the medical boats provide care for 6,000 - 8,000 people. The new hospital boat will triple the number of people attended to, and provide these patients with more comprehensive medical care.
