After I came up with "Color From the Heart" I tried one other mix with the objective of keeping the cool color gradients but in a simplified format. I mixed "Pepper Art - 9 Frames w/Color" with "Pepper Polka Dots - This Week's Bonus Pic" and the texture from the kevlar speaker cone and that was it, at last I was done. This is what I wanted all along and no further mixing of the pepper will occur, this is it: "Pepper - The End" The images used to make this are in the first comment, enjoy and thank you, have a great Sunday.

RKO_3803. How extraordinary is it to watch these beautiful and colorful little birds doing their diving act!

This male Common Kingfisher achieved its goal and had a wonderful, though relatively small, meal!

It was a challenge (and objective) to get some nice shots of the diving Kingfisher and I guess I too achieved my objectives.

One of my objective for the Spring/Summer this year was to try to get a photo of a Rufous Hummingbird feeding on the wild flowering current. I believe that we have more Rufous than usual around Victoria this year. So this should have been an easy objective but, every time I saw the behavior I had no camera, not even a point and shoot . Now the current is practically finished flowering around here, so it was a nice compromise to catch this behavior on these wild roses while in Tofino. We have Anas Hummingbird all year round in Victoria but the Rufous' visit is something that we enjoy only from early Spring until August. A real sweet little bird to have around. Actually, I think these flowers are not roses but flowers of salmonberry shrub, but I am not an expert.

My main objective in this recent trip was to make the crossing of Chile to Argentina without using air transport, but through the Andean Cruise, a delightful crossing the beautiful lakes that divide the two countries.

I had heard that the crossing was very beautiful, and I must say it has exceeded my expectations despite all the rain and gray days.

I intend to return there, and delight myself with the real color of the lakes, which oscillates between the turquoise and the emerald on sunny days.

The crossing is made from the Chilean city of Puerto Varas, already mentioned by me, a lovely and small town of German colonization, on the shores of Lake Llanquihue.

This lake is 877 kilometers long and has around it other cities of German influence, such as Puerto Octay, and especially Frutillar.

On the opposite side of Lake Llanquihue are the Osorno, Calbuco and Tronador volcanoes.

Last year I was at the base of the Tronador, but on the Argentine side. This time, because of atmospheric conditions, I could not observe the Tronador on the Chilean side, where its largest portion is located.

The Calbuco volcano is the only active of the three, and had an eruption in 2015 that launched ash mainly in Argentina and Brazil.

But the great star is really the inactive Osorno volcano, which many say resembles Mount Fuji by its shape and its constantly snowy top.

Here it is in a rare apparition during the five days that I was in the region.

Crucified with four nails, his hieratic features and the folds of his clothes alert us to the "indolent" drama so typical of this medieval artistic style, where the objective is to highlight more the majesty of the Redeemer than his sufferings for passion.

It’s a strange and wondrous world a photographer lives in, searching for truth that is objective and subjective at once…a combination to show what really happened and our own insight. When it comes to capturing a facial expression, you have to gain an intuition about the way a subtle change or a shift in shadow changes our perception of what stage the idea in a mind or a felt emotion was in terms of coming to fruition. We are all complex people but Yoshimi of The Boredoms and OOIOO is perhaps one of the more complicated artists and humans out there. And sometimes, this makes it impossible to choose one photograph instead of two the same way a mind might experience two thoughts at once veering towards the same awareness point. Time passes and that same moment might disappear into a distant vanishing point…this is why we have cameras after all…in order to study the nuances of what makes us humans.

Incidentally, this same kind of conundrum and artistic experience occurred a few other times but most notably when I took a couple of portraits of the Canadian singer, Julie Doiron. I couldn’t decide what I liked best and so I included both:

www.flickr.com/photos/kirstiecat/3596469364/in/photolist-...

I also think that we’re all living many lives and sometimes catch glimpses of each other….are we the same human if we’re the sum of all of our experiences and those experiences diverge at a certain point? Maybe not…..but perhaps….perhaps….we can catch a glimpse of ourselves and show some recognition and maybe even a smile.

Lesson learned: Never go on a trip without a tripod :-)

The Reichert "Neupolar 50 mm F 3.5" is a RMS objective for high magnification macro work and one of the rare lenses made in my home country Austria! It‘s relatively rare and therefore often somewhat expensive so I was glad to find one, and to me it feels like a little treasure I was able to find and return to it’s country of origin! I used its big brother, the 100 mm one to take this shot! Can't say when it was made exactly but it should be way over 50 years, realistically closer to 60 years old, so I'd say not bad for that age!

Shot with a Reichert "Neupolar 100 mm F 6.3" lens on a Canon EOS R5.

A macro view of electric hair clipper blades. The frame spans approximately 3mm across.

I was growing increasingly discontent with the haircuts I had been receiving. It had gotten to the point that I would come home after my hair appointments, pull out my shears, and touchup my hair to my liking. I finally made the decision to just cut my hair myself. That was twenty-five years ago; I have been cutting my own hair ever since. This is a macro view of the electric WAHL clippers I have been using since then.

Side note: The blurry line in the top blade had confounded me. It appeared in each of several alternate (yes–60+ focus stacked) shots. I surmise that it is from the oil lubrication on the blade.

Strobist/technical info:

The scene is a 64-image focus stack composite. It was illuminated by two Nikon SB900 speedlights, CL/CR, fired through 24" softboxes in Manual mode @ ⅛ power and triggered by PocketWizard Plus Xs.

Lens: Nikon CFI Plan 10X Infinity Achromat objective + Raynox DCM-250.

The "objective" shot of a week in Utah also became the nemesis shot, that being the Gordon Creek Trestle. Took until 6:00 PM of the last day on the Utah to finally nail it down, with the lighting the way we really wanted it. Part of the challenge was getting to it on dirt roads, not all trains going over it, and the silent approach. Not only wasn't there much radio chatter, but trains dropped downhill here, and you wouldn't know it was near until it rounded that distant curve. But after several other shots at this bridge, I'm thinking this one finally nailed it as a fitting end to our week on the Utah Railway.

...of a commonly subjective inner feeling.

One of the objectives in doing my photo projects this year is to have more fun with the camera. I don't know many techniques I haven't tried (or I would have tried them) Shooting soap bubbles as they freeze requires a certain set of factors of which the correct weather is foremost amongst them. This afternoon the conditions were correct. No wind would have made the conditions perfect and allowed me to get the beautiful golden hour light perfectly but there is always another day. I have been waiting for an opportunity like this for about three weeks and I had fun taking a few shots as the bubbles slowly froze. For the record, I did get soap in my mouth as I allowed my mind to wander over settings as I inhaled the mixture into the straw. Fortunately, it was only a drop or two.

While at Emerald Lake (see www.flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/20328054333) and enjoying a beer I spotted a few loons in the distance, that kept my attention for a long time. I wanted to make a picture but everytime when I pointed my camera, they swam further, leaving me with suboptimal results. So I ordered another beer, forgot about them, and left after een hour or so. When crossing the bridge -25 meters further- however they were swimming both under my nose, and I hurriedly took my camera, and just got this only picture that shows the magnificence of this amazing bird. I cursed myself afterwards, missing the opportunities but i am still happy with this result.

From 11 june till the 25th of July, I traveled in Canada. Starting in Brighton Ontario, where my sister lives at the border of an amazing part of lake Ontario, I flew to Vancouver, and Vancouver island where I took the boat at Port Hardy to take part 1 of the Inside passage, to Prince Rupert in BC. Two days later I took part 2 to Skagway in Alaska. When coming from Skagway Alaska, you can take the train to Carcross. it is a very scenic train ride that halts at Bennet lake.

And then to Whitehorse and further on by car to Kluane National park in the Yukon district. Whitehorse is situated at the border of the Yukon. Frow there I flew back to Vancouver, rented a car, and traveled three weeks in the BC- and Alberta Rockies, visiting the famous, and less famous Nature parks like Banff and Jasper. Last few days back to Brighton Ontario to enjoy lake Ontario once more, before going home. A picture of my itinerary can be found on Facebook (www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152940536581759&set...).

4000 pictures later, it is quite a task to show the right stuff, although the stunning scenery guarantees at least a few great shots to share. Objective will be to make a book (for myself mainly), and that might take a while.

I hope you will enjoy the impression of my travel, one that equals earlier journeys to Alaska and south America, this journey was the first in the digital era, and equally intensive because of all the hiking activities every day on and on. I loved every minute of it.

Bosnia and Herzegovina often known informally as Bosnia, is a country in Southeast Europe, located within the Balkans. Sarajevo is the capital and largest city. Bosnia is not entirely a landlocked country as it may appear on a map – to the south it has a narrow coast on the Adriatic Sea long and surrounds the town of Neum. Many people still associate the country with the break-up of Yugoslavia in the heartbreaking civil war of the 1990's. The scars from that time are all still visible. But today's tourist are likely to remember the country for its friendly, modest and warm people. The country has turned into an exciting and versatile travel destination, with beautiful mountains, numerous medieval castle ruins, seven major rivers, impressive waterfalls. Overall, nearly 50% of Bosnia is forested. A country where Eastern and Western civilizations have met over the centuries. Today integration into the European Union is one of the main political objectives of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The local currency is the Bosnian mark. The euro is also accepted. Islam is the majority faith in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also Orthodox Christianity, and Roman Catholicism are all present. The wild and unspoilt nature makes it an ideal place for both adventurers and nature lovers. Mostar is the largest city in Hercegovina, with a small but thoroughly enchanting old town centre. Mostar has been most famous for this beautiful historic Ottoman-style Stari Most bridge, which spanned the Neretva river in what is considered the historic center of the city.

Mostar is situated on the Neretva River. Mostar was named after the bridge keepers (mostari) who in the medieval times guarded the Stari Most (Old Bridge) over the Neretva. The Old Bridge, built by the Ottomans (Turkish tribes) in the 16th century, is one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's most visited landmarks. The bridge was destroyed during the Bosnian War. The European Union has spent more than $ 15 million on restoration. The restoration was finished in 2004. In 2005, UNESCO inscribed the Old Bridge and its closest vicinity onto the World Heritage List. Today it is the city’s crown jewel, a grand stone bridge which sweeps across the water, making it the most photographed landmark in the entire country for good reason.

Antoni.

Today's photographic outing was scheduled to take night photographs of an abandoned church in the mountains.

The group made up of four photographers and we have met in a good restaurant to eat while we discussed the strategies to follow, during the photographic session, to be able to take the maximum number of photographs with the minimum time (given that at 10 at night everyone we had to be home).

In the end ... today I had to be outside the ruined church while the remaining three took photos inside. On another occasion it will be, so today I have only been able to take photos from outside.

Due to the cold and humidity, we had to constantly clean the water on our cameras and lenses with special cloths, and clean the lenses because they were fogged and wet.

As the grass went, it was no longer green, it was white ... it was beginning to freeze. Luckily today no mishap has to stand out, I hope you like it.

A cordial greeting. Antoni.

My main objective yesterday afternoon was to shoot the Sunset Limited on its early evening run through the Houston area. Good sunlight persisted until just after 6pm, when a slow-moving thunderstorm developed right over the downtown area, aka right over where Amtrak was at the time, and would be for the next hour.

As the tail end of the storm neared right when Amtrak departed the depot, I went to one of my usual spots along the Sunset Route main, at one of the bridges over I-10 east of Eureka Junction, hoping for a sucker hole. With the rain still coming down at this point and me of course still wanting a shot, I simply decided to disregard the conditions and stumbled out of my car to shoot the train anyway. Alas, just as the P42s passed me, the sun popped out, leaving me quite disappointed with my dull, overcast shot as the shortened Superliner consist blew by me. I turned around to watch the tail end of #1 cross the bridge, when lo and behold, I noticed headlights coming towards me on the other track, along with the faint rumble of EMD 645s.

I stood there for a few seconds, quickly deciding whether or not I could make this possible shot work. Just as I had moments before, I disregarded the conditions and snapped the shutter away as UP 1369 with the YER62 throttled up across the I-10 bridge and headed east towards Englewood as a steady rain still fell.

A rare instance when saying "screw it" and shooting the train anyway can produce something a lot more interesting than what you intended.
