The new boy on the block had Imho to be licked into shape. I’m sure he will age gracefully and cost above the average price of £35.000 I suppose a bright lick of paint was in order too but till he ages gracefully ( are chalets he’s or hers ‘ btw ? Well anyway until it blends in I blended him in..although I do think 🤔 my deranged brain may have gone a bit overboard….” Over board - get it ;)

The mechanical pool, once a marvel of golden gears in motion, now lay in chaos. Loose nuts rolled across the metal floor as the protagonist leaned over the edge, frowning. The gears had fallen to the bottom, swallowed by the watery shadows, and the machinery's core—that pulsing heart of copper—had slipped out of sight, hidden behind a tangle of pipes and mist. Something inside grew led with an even rhythm, like a wounded beast. Taking a deep breath, he tightened his grip on the wrench. He couldn't fix what he couldn't see, but if he wanted to prevent disaster, he would have to dive into the mystery lurking beneath the surface.

El tema de esta semana (14 de Abril) es "Tuercas & Tornillos".

The theme for this week (on April 14) is "Nuts & Bolts".

A great snack that I make every year during the Holidays.

sold my Canon EOS 7d m2 and Canon EOS R last year as I decided that my Canon R6 would do both jobs I ask of my Canon kit, local landscape and big wave chasing. I used the 7d in combination with my EF100-400mm 4.5/5.6 L for the waves but in low light which usually coincided with stormy weather I couldn’t really push the photos passed 400iso, so I thought the R6 would fix that. Unfortunately I lost the focal length expecting a full frame to do the same job, even with the 1.4x extender attached it was unsatisfactory. So I ordered a R7 on the announcement of the release, three month later I cancelled that order as they was no sign of getting my hands on one. However in December they became available and I managed to get one. What with one thing or another this year I’ve not really been able to use the camera so to fix that I took it around my local park last week armed with the ultralight RF100-400 and some monkey nuts.

after all the hustle and bustle of the Christmas Season... I'm sure we all felt that way... now we can sit back and crack open a few!!

Merry Christmas!

Nuts & bolts construction board we gave to his brother, Orson, for his birthday a couple of years ago.

I will need to explain this one as none of this looks like a number nine and neither is there nine items in the photo.

I got into computers quite a few years ago just for fun and learnt a bit of COBOL/Machine code programming and how to use them. So for this theme I had the idea of representing the number nine in a binary way.

For this I didn't really want to photograph writing on a piece of paper and after a while I came up with the idea of showing the binary 1's and 0's using nuts.

As a basic explanation computers understand only 1's and 0's, on and off. The more of these that are grouped together the more powerful the computer. There are 8 nuts in the photo and each nut represents a bit. The whole setup represents a byte.

Starting from the very right the value of the bit is 1. If the bit is turned on then this is added to the whole value of the byte. The next one to the left would be a value of 2. The one to the left of that is a value of 4. Each bit has a value of double the one to the right of it. So the value of bits in a byte are from the left - 128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2 and 1.

In the photo the nuts that are facing the camera are representing a 0 and the ones turned sideways are representing 1.

So from the left 128 = 0, 64 = 0, 32 = 0, 16 = 0, 8 = 1, 4 = 0, 2 = 0 and 1 = 1. So here 8 plus 1 is equal to 9.

I used the smallest nuts that would fit in the photo and the whole setup is 7cm across.

I did do a version with an extra nut in the frame just in case this is not deemed valid.

Converted to Black and White as there was no colour in the photo anyway.

I couldn't resist and used f/9 as the aperture.
