Clark's Nutcracker arrives surveying the area.
Wow! Are all these for little ol' me?!
This bird was very friendly and quite bold. I was able to hand feed him as he would perch on my knee to take a peanut. Awesome experience!
Clark's Nutcrackers are medium-sized birds with long, sharp bills. Clark's Nutcrackers have excellent spatial memory, which enables them to cache up to 33,000 seeds in the fall, and then locate a large percentage of those during the winter.

A Nutcracker refers to both a mechanical tool for cracking nuts and the beloved Christmas ballet by Tchaikovsky, based on E.T.A. Hoffmann's tale where a girl, Clara, receives a nutcracker doll that comes to life to battle the Mouse King and journey to the Land of Sweets. These popular wooden dolls, often soldiers, are also decorative German Christmas traditions symbolizing good fortune, while the ballet features iconic music and enchanting Christmas magic.
This was one of the more interesting scenes from the Nutcracker performance we saw over the weekend. The little dancers on stage appeared from inside the giant prop dress which was wheeled across the floor.

Featured: Bloom! Baroque Red Chair (other colors avail). This chair has tons of lovely animations and is great for cuddles and thinking, photography and decorating. It inspired the scene that we photographed in and made the look really come to life! <3

😊 Thanks to everyone who took the time to view, comment, and fave my photo. It’s really appreciated. 😊
I couldn't burn these! My sister-in-law bought us these Advent Candles two years in a row- many years ago! I just couldn't bring myself to burn them, and each year I get them out of the box and still can't. ;0)
On Friday, I crossed the street from hanging out at the Americana AGAIN, and I saw this different looking (different enough) nutcracker to get a photo of it. The fact that it was in front of the Museum of Neon Art didn't hurt either. This new phone camera has a 50MP sensor, and combined with an f/1.8 lens allows me to get some quite good low light shots, especially getting the details of a magic hour shot.
My fourth entry for the ABS builder challenge, and a collaboration with Dave Zambito, a fellow Azure Blue teammate. We were both at a local LUG event this Saturday, so I contacted him asking if he would be interested in doing a live collab while we were there. He said yes, so we decided on a subject matter and each brought some bricks to build with. Despite only having around 2 hours to build, we were able to complete the whole thing at the event. 28 of the seed part are included in the build, in 4 different colors.
The situation... we found the alert that the nutcracker sits at a certain point in the Black forest. We went there to find it. When we left the car, we were so unamused about the noise. So many bikes, horrible. We decided to give up and went to the highest mountain of the Black forest, the Feldberg. There, we went for a walk, found many different bird species. And suddenly, the nutcracker popped up and was there. We had three chances to get a picture. I was lucky and could get this really great shot!
