A case of semi-accidental lighting here. I happened to have a Sony lens box out next to where I was shooting and noticed it reflected in the shiny nutcracker metal. Rather than moving the box I went with it and it used it to create some contrast and colour in the shot!

The Clark's Nutcracker is a very cool bird to experience. They are also an important part of the ecosystem in Coniferous forests of the Rocky Mountains and the Cascades. This bird is unique in that a single individual can store as many as 100,000 seeds in a single year, many of these seeds that they stash for food reserves end up in a favorable place to germinate and form new trees. without the Clarks Nutcracker forest cycles could very well suffer. for these reasons it is considered a specialist and a keystone species.

"Clark’s Nutcrackers are conspicuous birds in open subalpine forests near treelines in the West, where they fly with woodpecker-like swoops, perch on vertical pine branches, and jab at cones with their bills. They’re also wide-ranging and move through middle-elevation conifer forests, where they tend to stay near the canopy."
Some of the best sights to be seen are actually in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn.
Starting in the 1980s, Christmas started getting bigger and brighter out in Brooklyn with each passing year.
In 2020, expect to see massive, professionally done light displays (some costing upwards of $20,000!).

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is an orange day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Crazy Tuesday is nutcracker. So as you can see, my picture do not represent some kind of torture device but just our old nutcracker (so maybe, in the end, it is a torture device for nuts !). You just have to put your nut in the middle and squeeze as hard as you can, and then the magic happens: you will end up with a delicious ready to eat nut. I wish you all an amazing day !! Mucho, mucho amor for you all !!
