Grandma and Grandpa MacDonald drove up from California to see Lauren in the Nutcracker ballet. Lauren had no idea they were coming to see her.

Creighton Dance Company’s production of The Nutcracker recounts the classic tale of a young girls journey, beginning at her parents’ Christmas party and into her nightmares and dreams. Eventually, Clara is transported to a land of “sweets” where she is entertained by the Sugar Plum Fairy and other dance “confections”. She is accompanied by her beloved Uncle Drosselmeyer, and the Nutcracker “doll” (transformed into a “Prince”) that he has given her as a gift. The cast features dancers from the Creighton Dance Department and younger dancers from the metro community.

In 2007 these nutcrackers were placed around the downtown Seattle area, decorated by different groups.

We took a day trip to Manning specifically to find this bird. I was still slinging my camera strap around my neck when I exclaimed to David, "There goes a Nutcracker!" It was the easiest lifer to find so far. Manning Park is rife with them.
