Students at the Mt. Pleasant School of Dance prepare for next month's performances of The Nutcracker
LEGO model of the Nutcracker, a classic Christmas icon. Inspired by the ballet by Alexandre Dumas père (an adaptation of the story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" by E. T. A. Hoffmann), set to music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and staged by Marius Petipa. My wife and I saw the San Francisco Ballet version of this last week, and I've been wanting to make a LEGO nutcracker ever since. I was going to make a big one, about two feet tall, but haven't got around to it yet... in the meantime I really like the way this little guy came out.

I accept payment in the form of cash, check, or Venmo only.

A nutcracker is a mechanical device for cracking nuts. Usually they work on the principle of moments as described in Archimedes' analysis of the lever. The earliest use of the term nutcracker in English dates to 1481.

He is my favorite nutcracker and different from any others I have.
This is the last of the 2008 Christmas photos. This weekend, all of it goes into storage for 11 months.

In 2007 these nutcrackers were placed around the downtown Seattle area, decorated by different groups.
The Sugar Plum Fairy dances during Brindusa-Moore Ballet Academy's production of The Nutcracker in December 2007 at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho.
The doll head taveled to North Pole, Alaska 'where the spirit of Christmas lives year round'. Hopefully, she will be arriving in Rome soon. If you want to join in the fun, join Three Traveling Doll Heads.
