On the occasion of the publication of James Rosenquist's memoir, Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation and Museum Director Richard Armstrong and writer/scholar Judith Goldman engaged in a conversation with the iconic Pop art painter on his life story in his own words. The evening provided a unique look inside the contemporary art world and the creation of the artistic language of one of the twentieth century's most important artists. Co-organized by Alfred A. Knopf.

The mains connector is not the original, which was a plastic plug screwed to the cabinet back. This was intended to prevent operation with the back removed.
Sometimes, I get a student who has decided not to speak. It's understandable. If you are suddenly plunged into another culture with a language you don't understand, one of the few rebellions open to you is to elect not to speak. it gives you one small bit of power, where otherwise, you are powerless.
C doesn't speak, apart from one-word answers that take a while before she gets the nerve to whisper them. I'm working on her confidence in speaking, but in the meantime, we have the most marvelous written conversations. We talk about food, TV, movies, and people, all with her careful illustrations and our giggles and nods back and forth. The notes we pass are some of my most enjoyable student interactions.
Probably a lot of people think I should be pushing her to speak more. I'm more concerned with earning her trust, so that when she does decide that she is comfortable with conversing verbally, she knows she can trust me to listen to her.

Samsung’un başı dertten kurtulmuyor. Çiçeği burnunda amiral gemisi Note 8 için inanilmaz bir iddia ortaya atıldı. Note 8’in bazı sürümlerinde pil sorunu olduğu ortaya çıktı. Bu basit bir pil sorunu değil. Telefonun şarkı bitip kapandığında bazı Note 8 sürümleri bir daha açılmadı.

I'm in a small Facebook group that is reading a book about charity and then discussing it. Today I quickly made notes as I re-read Chapter 1.
... of the optical kind, notes that remind you of the past amidst all the glossy and textureless newness of the present that has no future so as to ever become the past that was.
All comments are appreciated. However, no response will be made on my part unless I consider this is either required or could possibly add something new to the content of any comment.
Please note that invitations to groups with rules about making any obligatory number of comments or awards will not be accepted no matter how well-intended they may be.

Wow, one week in the San Juan Islands is over..... I can't believe how fast the time went by. It's an amazing area, so many islands. Best of all the Orca whales. There are 3 wild critters I absolutely love, adore and have been fascinated by ever since I can remember, Orca whales, Bald Eagles and Mustangs. The first night there Jeremy and I got caught in a thunderstorm, I was told that they are fairly rare in that area, hubby went back to the hotel to get my wide angle lens because I thought I had it in the bag but didn't. Baddie photog.... he missed the whole thing. Jeremy and I were drenched, lighting all around us, camera on tripod with my rain jacket on, I have to admit it was a wee bit scary, tried concentrating on the lightning when the orcas came in, lighting forgotten. I took this pic and all subsequent ones at ISO 1600. The cloud formation and the light after the storm was just downright amazing, I have never seen anything like it, the sky was blood red. Hubby came back just as the thunderstorm was over and I could just concentrate on capturing the sky, sea and the lighthouse.
An interesting thing to note about these particular orcas is that there are 3 resident pods J, K and L pods and several transient pods. The transient pods live off of marine mammals while the resident pods solely live of Salmon. They are on the endangered species list. The other exciting thing for me is that the baby seen in the middle poking his/her head out was just "found" the day before this photo was taken. So I consider myself extremely lucky to not only have seen it less than 24 hours of it's announcement but also having been able to capture it :) :) :) We did take a whale watching tour and found J-pod a few days later, there were 2 naturalist on board the boat, one marine biologist, I am pretty sure they were quite glad when the tour was over, because I bombarded them with questions.
In general I do not promote outside sources unless they serve a real good purpose and in this case the purpose is protecting our marine life. It's a website/app for marine safe foods and which ones to avoid, the web address is: www.montereybayaquarium.org/cr/cr_seafoodwatch/issues/def... and www.montereybayaquarium.org/cr/cr_seafoodwatch/sfw_recomm...
I am pooped, have a bunch of images to sort through, but will be posting throughout the week! Hope everyone is well!
Today's main activity was to write my thank you notes for my holiday gifts. While I didn't get a lot of gifts in terms of quantity, they were all items that I wanted. Some were pricey, and I didn't expect to get them, but due to hubby taking up a collection, I even got the suitcase I wanted....
Which I might get to put to good use if I tag along with him as a stowaway to Singapore! ;)
