Observer note, 2017

I experienced a psychological trauma from the threat of an unknown man knocking my door suddenly at the dawn. After that, I noticed a scribble next to the doorbell, and to my surprise later I found all other doors in the building had the same kind of scribbles.

I could figure out the observer's minute daring eyes who had made a small scribble next to a doorbell by reckoning the fact that something in a close distance can't be noticed easily. From that I also assumed its content and his intention. The changes in my psychology about the 'anxiety' have led me to feel anxious about my space which was once safest. For sure, someone had observed and he/she wrote its record next to doorbells. This ambiguous behavior colors daily lives with sense of anxiety.

When the scribbles were noticed, they were close to drawings rather than scribbles and a strange formativeness was coming out from them. Being similar to a signature, they came into my mind as an ambiguous form neither as a letter nor as a symbol. Collecting the scribbles on the wall through cameras removed the information about the place and shaping the scribbles made me focus on the encrypted symbols. Once the works completed going through various processes are put on the wall of a gallery (a white box) which has deep gap from our daily life, the connecting point of a relationship between the observer and residents has been removed.

缺點是這款手帳有點肥,因此把別人送的珠友書衣套上去後,試插了一下筆插,嗯,我手邊塞得進去的只有 UNI Style Fit 的筆芯管 Orz

Always remember to be thankful. I was told a story today by one of my accounts at work. He owns rental units. He mentioned a lady had just vacated the one unit where a family lived in the one that was attatched to hers. The wife of that family was leaving her husband. There were children involved. Fact is, the youngest boy found the husband first. They came to pick up stuff and the boy came out to the kitchen and said, "Mom, Dads laying down in the bed room. He's wearing a mask". Actually the husband had removed his face with a shotgun. I do not know these people, but after hearing this today, I cannot get that little boy out of my mind. For those so inclined, Pray for the boy who lives in "ENOLA, Pa." that lost his Father in such a selfish manner. Pray for his family.

I smile here in this picture realizing that no matter how bad I think I may have it, My lord loves me and My journey here on Earth is not about me, yet it is about what I can be. I struggle with a lot of things. Things that seem insurmountable. Then out of no where I am reminded in one way or another that nothing is impossible.

Another note to self: Ephesians 5:20. Simple. So simple.

Here is the thank you note Santa left us during his Christmas Eve visit:

Dear Alana,

When I came down the chimney I saw that you had made me a wonderful gingerbread house. I thought it was so nice that I couldn’t eat it, so I just ate the cookie.

I hope that you enjoy all your presents. The elves had a good time making them all.

Merry Christmas,

S. Claus

PS. Rudolph says that Ringer is a good watchdog. He woke up when he saw us coming. Santa had to give him a treat so he would stop barking.

My notes from Agile2008. I'm trying something new, uploading the notes to Evernote to store them and I thought others might be able to get something out of them.

As you can probably read in my notes, I have to write notes all the time. I'll forget stuff if I don't. You know how it goes. Out of sight, out of mind. Yeah I hate it.

Note the camouflage of the eyes that makes it difficult to identify the head end.

Xmas pressie on the way....... Santa fell behind on this one. ;D

(NOT MY PIC)

Overnight, someone placed this musical note (which I noticed as I processed the photo was in the shape of a lower-case B) in front of Creole Gallery, Robert Busby's home and gallery. By placed, I mean permanently affixed to a post which is anchored to the sidewalk. I wouldn't be surprised if there had been some city complicity in the memorial piece of artwork which a number of us suspect was created by a local artist/businessman who has had a hand in creating a couple of businesses in Old Town.

I photographed Odaiba of the evening.

Because wind was strong, it was the beautiful setting sun.

I'm using sticky notes to work out the complex puzzle of how to manage the many secrets that drive the plot of this novel.

The stickies are on the back of a piece of ugly wrapping paper I was never going to use. If you look closely, you can make out the candy canes.

Talk on Feb 11, 2014 at MaRS, Auditorium Toronto, ON.

April Rinne discussed how the collaborative economy has the potential to transform how we design products and services, create sustainable and “shareable” cities, re-imagine public services, reduce waste and connect communities.

music: make your own kind of music - mamma cass elliot

"Nobody can tell ya

There's only one song worth singing

They may try and sell ya

Cause it hangs them up

To see someone like you

You gotta make your own kind of music

Sing your own special song

Make your own kind music

Even if nobody else sings along

It can't be nowhere

The loneliest kind of lonely

It may be

Just to do your thing is the hardest things to do"

Most people live and die with their music still unplayed. They never dare to try.

i hate this stack of notes

Rough magazine spread for a fictional magazine called Note. The brief was wide open, my goal is to create spreads and an identity for a music magazine. The content will be more indie; with the absence of top 40 bands, but I want it to be as accessible as main stream magazines (such as Rolling Stone, Revolver, Billboard etc.), with the same kind of budget.

Still needs fine tuning but I'm curious to hear opinions so far.

Notes from Day 8 of this:

• I'm not resenting the need to use my camera at least once a day nearly as much as I imagined I would already. It's kind of nice to have a low-key goal. And just one photo isn't so hard to do. Just one. That's all. It's a small ambition, especially compared with the other things that are on my list each day: writing, researching, interviewing, life-planning. It's a task that fits in my hand.

• When only one photo can be the photo of the day, your vision gets a lot clearer. I took seven or eight crow photos today; this is the one I chose to share. It's nice; I was already a ruthless curator, but this makes it even easier to toss what doesn't get that coveted number in its title.

• Watching the small square tiles of this set fill in one by one, never faster? That slows time down a little bit. Not many things can do that for me now. I'm grateful.
