European Robin [Erithacus rubecula]
Just helping herself to a winter feed (beef lard, salt-free crunchy and salt-free smooth peanut butter, flour, Niger seeds, golden linseeds, poppy seeds, chia seeds, sunflower nibs, crushed walnuts and maple syrup).
Initially, I made this mix for the wee long-tailed tits, but the Robin is always first to get to this new feeder. (I made this!! It’s a broken branch with drilled out holes for the mixture, and holes drilled for twig-perches).
A big hit!

22/52: The 52 week challenge - Rows of things.
I took two photos for this theme, the other was a high key, minimal image of three pen nibs in a row. My husband chose this one. I may well post the other one too as he usually chooses the wrong one! ;) This is my latest knitting project, a cushion cover. I only took up knitting last year (I'm a late starter) but I love it and like to have a project or two on the go.
I've given this a film filter and a bit of a fade as I thought it might give it a bit of added interest.
I am still really behind with viewing and commenting but attempting to slowly catch up.
Ha! Moccasin is spelled incorrectly, I have rare occasion to write that word and the spell check on the paper pad is busted!
Day 55/365:
Smile on Saturday - Postcards and Greeting Cards
I had to make a card for my friend's husband...always handy for a photo. I embossed the black card then blended gilding waxes to give the metallic effect. A few metal accents to finish. The vintage binoculars are just to add to the rich tones so don't really add to the story but I like them and haven't used them much so here they are.
Day 291/365:
18/31: October 2022: A month in 31 pictures
The hand came 'in handy' again today along with these vintage pen nibs. I'd left it a bit late to think of anything else.

Niborrekab Nightfire and her great styling.
I took this stealth shot when I spotted her at Enchantment.
Today's camera club challenge was the letter "I" with bonus for Indoor. I have been truly enjoying these challenges, as they give me a reason to play.
It only took me a few seconds to think of Ink, so off I went collecting tidbits from my calligraphy supplies, and this photo is the result of the effort.
Taken at home in Moncton, NB, Canada on 7 February 2020.
My Dads uncle was a sign writer and when he passed away his wife gave me his sign writing stuff including a box of pen nibs, so small, they can fit on a match.
Day 164/365:
Definitely Dreaming - Week 23: Writing
Things should start to calm down here now...maybe. It's been a manic month. My sister was staying with us for a couple of weeks. While she was here I had a very big birthday so there were family celebrations. Then we went to Norfolk for just over a week. The internet is dreadful there. So all in all I haven't been on Flickr much other than to post my photos. Now I'm home I will try to stop by and leave a comment or two.
While away I managed to pick up a few props. There is a lovely little vintage shop that I always try to visit and pick up a thing or two. This time there were several things I just couldn't resist. Some of them are in this photo: The ink bottle and box, lace doily, magnifying glass (I know I already have one but this one is different). Authentic ration book and the pen nibs. Imagine my excitement finding all those treasures...and more!
The admission tickets are from a garden we visited, I caught my husband about to throw them away, he now realises the error of his ways ;)
“[Gold] gets dug out of the ground in Africa, or someplace. Then we melt it down, dig another hole, bury it again and pay people to stand around guarding it. It has no utility. Anyone watching from Mars would be scratching their head.”

Hidden, then unhidden photo.
This a macro shot of the nib of one of my fountain pens. It is a 0.7mm custom-ground, cursive smooth italic nib. What a joy to write with, too.
I apologize for the ink on the nib. The pen is inked.

My wife and I still use fountain pens as our `default`, these four make up the collection with two for me and one for my better half. The third is our `scribbler` and we have a few of this type dotted around, you may be able to guess who`s is who`s?
138/365: I made these little envelopes, the nibs were a purchase from Sovereign Hill in Ballarat and the little book from a market in Berlin. Hearts from my craft stash.
Dip pen nibs and tin. Just in case I might use them! Have you seen the price of a bottle of ink these days?

"The material came bubbling up inside like a geyser or an oil gusher. It streamed up of its own accord, down my arm and out of my fountain pen in a torrent of six thousand words a day."
C. S. Forester, b: Cairo, 1899, d: 1966, California
Forester's most notable works were the 12-book Horatio Hornblower series, depicting a Royal Navy officer during the Napoleonic wars, and The African Queen (1935; filmed in 1951 by John Huston). His novels, A Ship of the Line and Flying Colours, were jointly awarded the 1938 James Tait Black Memorial Prize for fiction.
I borrowed a few of my spouse's well-tended — and well used —fountain pens to photograph.
