I drove through that downpour just to get to the other side for this view. With the sun peaking out, i knew there would be a rainbow and illuminating the foreground, the yellows made for a wonderful contrast against the dark skies. The rainbow is in another shot. I was parked on a dirt/gravel road alongside one farm looking east at the farm next door, and all that rain!! The road I am on had already been soaked by the rain. My white car was sporting a nice coating of sloppy wet dirt by the time I got back on the main road, LOL. But it was worth it :-)

In this view Stagecoach Optare Versa type 25271 is captured on the A149 twixt Salthouse and Cley-next-the-Sea as it picks up at the bus stop adjacent to the Norfolk Wildlife Trust centre. As we can see it is heading for Coasthopper with the above journey, no sorry that should read Wells-next-the-Sea. In the immediate background are parts of both Cley and Salthouse Marsh. A section of the latter, to the right as we look, is known as Carter’s Scrape, whilst on the horizon it is just possible to make out the shingle bank sea defence. The latter was again breached on the night of Friday 13th January 2017 and much devastation was caused, including the loss of both bird and other wildlife.

Stitched from 4 or 5 images. The view from the Special Tree.

You might have noticed a slight change between this image and the previous two. So, what's happened?

I bought this wig a month or so previously, but I knew I couldn't successfully pull off such a completely blonde look straightaway. I mean, well, I'm the respectable brunette girl, am I not?

So when I knew I was going to go to a party on this afternoon, I decided immediately that there would be no better time to make the leap. Even then, I asked one of the other girls in the changing room whether it should brunette or blonde. "Blonde", she said as I soon as I modelled it for her. So that was it.

After fitting it correctly, I checked myself in the mirror at the far end of the room. Even though my make up had taken a battering from the weather, my self-confidence took a surge upwards when I saw what was there. It felt very right and I felt very, very wicked.

So you might have to put up with more of this sort of thing.

I love that the Gorse Bear is in the woods next to a cave! That must be where he/she sleeps in the winter.

good weekend to all of you

The daylight is less than an hour old as N&W 382 hammers up grade at Watauga, Virginia, on her daily run to West Jefferson, North Carolina. The terrain is still gentle here, but over the course of the next 50 miles or so, both 382 and her crew will get a workout as their "Virginia Creeper" climbs grades exceeding 2.5%. They'll pass through White Top, the highest point ever reached by regular passenger service east of the Rockies before they finally arrive at the southern terminus of the Abingdon Branch, just past 11 AM.

This image was captured during an October 2010 Lerro Productions Charter on Pennsylvania's Strasburg Rail Road, in which the sole operable N&W M-Class #475 was very cleverly disguised as her long-lost sister #382, which served on Virginia's Abingdon Branch. This re-creation mixed train is pictured on Long Curve, just outside Paradise, PA.

Southwest Airlines flight 4156 was traveling from Chicago (MDW) to Miami (MIA) at 32,000 ft & 459 knots.

This was mostly luck and persistence - it was more than an hour past my predicted time window for getting a transit at or near home. For this plane I drove to a place along the river, so, basically, as far east as I could easily go.

It turned out to be the right spot.

Cley Next The Sea is a picturesque village on the North Norfolk coast, situated in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Cley (pronounced 'Cly') is just 1 mile east of Blakeney and 4 miles north of Holt, on the main coast road between Wells and Sheringham.

Well known for its Windmill and its magnificent church, Cley is also home to the NWT Cley Marshes Nature Reserve, internationally reputed as a premier birdwatching site, popular with birds and visitors all year round! Along with its Art & Crafts galleries, specialist food shops and welcoming hostelries, Cley has a lot to offer.

Cley is also popular with walkers and is on the Norfolk Coastal Path which can be followed along to Holme Next The Sea where it joins the ancient Peddars Way National Trail - ideal for those who like something more challenging!

Cley was originally a lot more 'next the sea' than it is now - in the Middle Ages it was a thriving trading port and the harbour was down in front of St Margaret's Church - hard to imagine when you visit the area today. Sadly the village was struck by the plague and a misguided landowner unlawfully attempted land reclamation which caused the river to gradually silt up, both of which contributed to a decline in the population and wealth of the village. Some lovely pictures of old Cley can be seen at St Margaret's Church

The village now thrives from tourism primarily brought in by the fantastic views, walks and wildlife. Cley is now a place of peace and tranquility and offers a warm welcome to anyone who wants to come and enjoy the area.

The shingle beach at Cley can be accessed via Beach Road by car or on foot along one of the footpaths through the marshes. The beach is suitable for sea fishing and there is parking at the beach Car Park. Parking is also available free at the Village Hall.

Until Next Year — Really enjoyed this year’s Christmas season, but also at the same time I am happy to look forward to 2021. Bring it on! This year’s season went by “in a blur!” ...I’ll see myself out.

The blue spots are clips placed on very young planted trees, to mark their whereabouts, I guess...

Life, of course, is serious business but I couldn't help imagining it as a board game with the people as the pieces, from this perspective.
