Lot's of distractions these day so I haven't been out with a camera very often. This one is from last October and the idea was that we'd get a fabulously colorful sunset - which didn't pan out. Instead, it was getting later in the evening and I tried my hand with a bit of focus stacking before it got too dark. Stacking has been on my "proficiency list" for a while but for one reason or another, I've been avoiding it. This image is a stack of two but I should have done at least three. Next time! Lot's of editing here for the toned effect, which should make it work for Sliders Sunday! HSS

After dinner I hurried out without a guide, and after noting the four points of the compass, plunged into the labyrinth of this city, which is intersected everywhere by canals but joined together by bridges. The compactness of it all is unimaginable unless one has seen it... I easily found the Canal Grande and its principal bridge, the Ponte Rialto, which is a single arch of white marble. Looking down, I saw the Canal teeming with gondolas and the barges which bring all necessities from the mainland and land at this point to unload.

I felt if he could speak to us or sing to us he would be singing " Oh what a beautiful morning " The beautiful male green crowned brilliant was on a nearby branch and I could not help but capture a few!! Such awesome beauty and Costa Rica has beauty at every turn . We will be heading back with Nature's Tapestry Photo Adventure Tours next November 2018 and April 2019 . The Château of Modave (French: Château de Modave), also known as the Château des Comtes de Marchin (Château of the Counts of Marchin) is a château near the village of Modave in the province of Liège, Belgium.
The oldest part of the building, the donjon, was built on a strategic rock high above the valley of the river Hoyoux. The oldest parts still visible today date probably from the 13th century and were erected by the lords of Modave. In the 16th century the castle and the estate of Modave became the property of the Haultepenne and de Saint-Fontaine families.
In the next century Jean-Gaspard-Ferdinand de Marchin (1601–1673), a great military commander, acquired the castle and turned it from a medieval fortress into a luxury Baroque residence. His son Ferdinand de Marsin neglected the property and lived in France.
Later owners were successively:
Maximilian Henry of Bavaria, Elector of Cologne and Prince-Bishop of Liège (1682–1684);
Cardinal William Egon of Furstenberg, and his heirs (1684–1706);
Baron Arnold de Ville (1706–1772); and
Anne-Léon, Duke of Montmorency, and his heirs (1772–1817).
In the 19th century it was owned by the non-noble families of Lamarche, Braconier and Van Hoegaerden. Finally, the Compagnie Intercommunale Bruxelloise des Eaux ("Brussels Intercommunal Water Company") bought the property in March 1941, in order to protect the important water catchments in the park. The company still owns the château today and has been restoring it with great care. It is open for visitors from April until October and it is also used as a prestigious venue for concerts and receptions.
